VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES OPERATION HOMEFRONT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Presenters-Along with providing the services we do, one aspect of that is educating military members and their families on those services at PreDeployment briefs on military bases and facilities. We need enthusiastic volunteers to do just that, meeting with military command representatives and explaining the mission and purpose of OHSoCal. Usually just a two-hour time commitment, it involves delivering a brief and manning a booth to answer questions from military members and their families regarding the services provided by OHSoCal. Client-Service Representative-We receive many calls and applications daily from military families requesting assistance. Our Client Service Representatives (CSRs) work with families to assess their needs and complete the application for assistance. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity to fit your schedule, will allow you to perform duties in your home and give you a real opportunity to make a real difference, become a CSR today! CSRs interact with our clients on a personal level to assess the client's needs and how Operation Homefront can meet them. CSRs may also interact with donors and service providers to arrange for client assistance. This is a flexible position that allows you to perform most duties in your own home and set your own hours depending on caseload. Average time investment is about 3 to 10 hours weekly. We provide full training and support. Warehouse Volunteers-When a family has need of an item that we have stored in our warehouses in Escondido and on Naval Base San Diego, they meet with one of our Warehouse Volunteers to open the doors to the warehouse, help them find the item and load it into their vehicle. Currently, we need people to fill this role of meeting with our clients and getting them the items they need. Email David Michael at david.michael@operationhomefront.net if you are interested. CAMP PENDLETON AREA EVENTS 4th Annual Family Legacy and Leadership Expo: "Join Together. End Domestic Violence. Are You In?" Pacific Views South Mesa Club, October 20th, 2011, The Marine Corps campaign against domestic violence is ongoing and every year we commemorate October as Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness Month. The 4th Annual Family Legacy and Leadership Expo will not only be a resource fair, but an interactive educational event to feature guest speakers Maj Goode, from Base Legal and Jeffrey Bucholtz, Director of We End Violence. Maj. Goode will speak on the Lautenberg Amendment, Potential Career Impact, and the Legal Process. Jeffrey Bucholtz will present Before it Happens: Realistic Strategies for Preventing Relationship Violence and The Hiding: A Conversation about Male Victims of Relationship Violence. Participants should be Active Duty, spouses or members of the military community. The best solution is to prevent violence before it starts. In an effort to combat intimate partner violence and help create a healthy and stable environment for families, Counseling Services is proposing that, with Command support, we can implement the Expo as a prevention initiative to educate our Marines, their families and support staff. Haunted Harvest Festival Abby Reinke Community Center and Teen Programs presents Haunted Harvest Festival at the Abby Reinke Community Center, Bldg 201019. They will have all kinds of activities for the whole family to enjoy including jump houses, giveaways, snacks, arts and crafts, DJ, vendors, costume parade and much more! they have some fantastic prizes to be won. Those who show up in costume will also receive an extra entry for the grand prize. Please call 760-763-0649 for any questions. Saturday, October 8th, 11am to 3pm! Live in the Camp Pendleton area?
