Stonewater Consulting Group asked a cross section of Chief Information Officers (CIO) and Chief Technology Officers (CTO) to comment on what they believe are going to be the main Technology agenda items in 2011. People/Talent 21.8% Cloud Computing 20.3% Devices/mobility 14.0% Cost Optimisation 9.4% Value Creation 7.8% Innovation 7.8% Vendor Management 6.3% Green IT 6.3% Governance 4.7% Social Media 4.7%
The general consensus is that enterprises are embarking on various transformation projects and at the heart of these are new approaches to technology. There has been a legacy of trimming, spending, and improving output so never has the IT function been more closely monitored than in the year to come. The expectation is the banking, financial services and insurance sectors to be key early adopters in the market, with the government also emerging as a big spender due to various e-governance and technology projects The predictions are that new technologies trends such as Cloud Computing and virtualization will continue to play a big part in the year to come and are likely to figure on the IT agenda.
The next-generation workforce has radically different abilities and expectations regarding information. They demand and deserve the tools to work effectively, usually in collaboration and not normally at a desk or in an office.
