GODS GIFT
GODS GIFT
BY PASTOR FRED SORIANO 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13
It is particularly at this time of the year, the Christmas season, that the idea of gifts and gift giving is on our minds. People are out in hordes cruising the malls and factory outlets for that special present for their special loved one, hopefully on a special discount. People are also gifts that God has given us to guide, provide for our every need, to protect, to teach, and see to it that we are always safe. Parents, teachers, employers, managers, and supervisors are all Gods awesome gifts to us, because he cares. But one special gift that not all are blessed with is a good pastor. Has God blessed you with one? Do you appreciate him? When we do show our support and appreciation for our pastor(s) we ultimately show our love and obedience to the One from whom he came - the Lord. We can express our appreciation and our love for our pastor(s) in very practical and biblical ways. Some of those include: acknowleging his spiritual authority over you (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13); honoring him (1Timothy 5:17); supporting him financially (1 Corinthians 9:14); praying for him everyday (Colossians 4:2-4/Hebrews 13:18-19); following his godly example(Hebrews 13:7); faithfully living godly lives (3 John 1:3-4); submitting to his direction (Hebrews 13:17); being patient with him (1 Corinthians 13:4-7); and respecting him (1 Thessalonians 5:13/ Philippians 2:29) Why do all this? Our message text tells us to do it ...because of their work. Winning souls and discipling people are not works of the pastor but the work of God himself and coming along side our pastor(s) again ultimately proves our love and obedience to God Himself. Lastly, it is an important ingredient that result in a peaceful and harmonious church life together.
