Program setting
In this setting, the room temperature is controlled by the
pre-set program.
Heating setting
In this setting, the room temperature is permanently
controlled according to the temperature pre-selected on the
day-temperature selector (1).
Reduce setting
In this setting, the room temperature is permanently
controlled according to the reduced (ni ght) temperature.

1 Gertebeschreibung
Der VRT 390 ist ein Raumtemperatur-
regler mit Wochen-Hei zprogramm.
Darber hinaus kann er die Warm-
wasserbereitung und eine Zirkul ations-
pumpe steuern.
Sobald der Regler angeschlossen ist und
die Uhrzeit eingestellt ist, fhrt er ein
sinnvolles Hei zprogramm durch. Hierfr
mu der Betriebsartenschalter (7, vordere
Kl appseite) in der Stellung Programm
stehen.
1 Device description
VRT 390 is a programmable room
thermost at. It can also control the hot
water supply and a circul ation pump.
Once the controller is connected and the
timer set, it efficiently runs the heating
program. Note that the operating mode
switch (7, on front-panel si de) should be
set to the Program position.
1 Description de l'appareil
L appareil VRT 390 est un thermost at
d ambi ance programmation
hebdomadaire dun circuit de chauff age.
Il peut commander en plus l a prparation
de l'eau chaude et une pompe de
recycl age.
Ds que le thermost at est raccord et que
l'heure est rgle, il excute un pro-
gramme de chauff age appropri. Il f aut
pour ce f aire que l'interrupteur de slec-
tion de mode de service (7, cl apet front al)
se trouve en position Programme .

2 Bedienung
Damit Ihr Hei zgert optimal arbeitet,
stellen Sie den Betriebsartenschalter (7,
vordere Kl appseite) auf Programm
.
2.1 Raumtemperatur einstellen
Mit dem Tag-Temperaturwhler (1,
vordere Kl appseite) knnen Sie die
Raumtemperatur Ihren indivi duellen
Bedrfnissen anpassen. Position
entspricht einer gewnschten Raum-
temperatur von ca. 20 C.
Raumtemperatur Erhhen
Drehen Sie den Tag-Temperaturwhler
nach rechts.
Raumtemperatur Senken
Drehen Sie den Tag-Temperaturwhler
nach links.
Diese Temperaturregelung ist nur aktiv,
wenn die Betriebsart oder
eingestellt ist.
2.2 Lften
Stellen Sie den Betriebsartenschalter (7,
vordere Kl appseite) whrend des Lftens
auf Absenken . Damit vermei den Sie
eine unnti ge Hei zungseinschaltung.
Nach dem Lften stellen Sie ihn wieder
zurck in Stellung Programm .
2 Operation
In order to ensure optimum operation of
your heating appli ance, set the mode
switch (7, on front-panel si de) to
Program
.
2.1 Adjusting day temperature
With the day temperature selector
(1,front folding page) you can adjust the
room temperature to indivi dual needs.
Position is set to approx. 20 C.
To increase temperature
Turn the day temperature selector
to the ri ght.
To decrease temperature
Turn the day temperature selector
to the left.
The temperature can only be adjusted if
the operation mode of the appli ance is
set to heating or program .
2.2 Ventilation or house airing
During airing switch the operating mode
(7, front folding page) of the appli ance
to Ni ght setting to avoi d activating
the heating mode. After ventil ating,
return it to the Program setting .
2 Commande

2.1 Rglage de la temprature jour
Avec le slecteur de temprature jour (1,
cl apet front al), vous pouvez adapter l a
temprature ambi ante vos besoins
indivi duels. La Position correspond
une temprature ambi ante de consi gne
d environ 20 C.
Augmenter l a temprature ambi ante

Tournez le slecteur de temprature
vers l a droite.
Abaisser l a temprature ambi ante

Tournez le slecteur de temprature
vers l a gauche.
Cette rgul ation n est active que si le
mode de fonctionnement Chauffer ou
Programme est slectionn.
2.2 Ventilation
Pendant l aration, mettez le commut a-
teur de mode de fonctionnement (7,
cl apet front al)) sur Abaisser .
Vous viterez ainsi un fonctionnement
inutile de l a chaudire.
Aprs l a ventil ation, ramenez-le en
position Programme .

2.3 Partyfunktion einschalten
Ihr Gert ist mit einer Party-Funktion
ausgest attet. Diese erl aubt es Ihnen, da
die Hei z- und Warmwasserzeiten ber
den nchsten Abschaltpunkt hinaus
fortgeset zt werden. Dies ist z. B. bei
einer Feier sinnvoll, denn der Regler stellt
sich am nchsten Morgen automatisch
zurck auf die Zeitfunktion.
Diese Funktion l t sich nur aktivieren,
wenn der Betriebsartenschalter auf der
Position steht.
Drcken Sie die Partyt aste (2, vordere

Kl appseite).
Im Displ ay erscheint der Schrift zug
Party und neben dem Symbol
erscheint das Symbol .
Mit dem St art der nchsten

programmierten Hei z zeit endet der
Party-betrieb automatisch. Der Regler
arbeitet dann wieder nach den
programmierten Zeiten.
Sie knnen die Party-Funktion aber
auch dadurch beenden, indem Sie
die Partyt aste (2) zweimal drcken.
2.3 Override mode
Your thermost at is equi pped with an
overri de mode, which enables you to
overri de the next stopping time for your
heating and hot water. It is therefore not
necessary to change your programmed
st andard settings e. g. for a one-off
overri de.
This function can only be activated if the
operating switch is set to symbol .
Press the overri de button (2).

The displ ay says overri de, and next to
symbol the symbol appears.
With the st art of the next programmed

heating period the overri de mode
switches off automatically. The
thermost at returns to the programmed
timings.
The overri de mode can also be
stopped by pressing the overri de
button (2) twice.
2.3 Touche party
Votre appareil est qui p d'une fonction
party. Ceci vous permet de prolonger le
temps de chauff age ou l a priode d'eau
chaude au-del du prochain point de
dsactivation. Cette fonction est utile si
vous organisez une rception ou une
soire, car vous n'tes pas alors
obli g(e) de modifier l a programmation
du thermost at. Cette fonction ne peut tre
active que si le commut ateur de mode
de fonctionnement est en position .
Appuyez sur l a touche party (2).

Le thermost at fonctionne ensuite de
nouveau selon les priodes
programmes.
Vous pouvez galement dsactiver l a
fonction Party en pressant deux fois l a
touche Party (2).

2.4 Einmalige Ladung fr Warmwasser
Ihr Gert ist mit einer Funktion zur
einmali gen Ladung des Speicherwassers
ausgest attet. Diese erl aubt es Ihnen, den
Warmwasserspeicher sofort auf zul aden
bzw. bei VC W- Gerten den Warmst art
des Aqua- Comfort-Systems zu aktivieren.
Dies ist sinnvoll, wenn Sie z. B. eine
Stunde frher als gewhnlich eine
grssere Menge Warmwasser benti gen.
Diese Funktion l t sich nur aktivieren,
wenn der Betriebsartenschalter auf der
Position steht.
Drcken Sie die Partyt aste (2, vordere

Kl appseite) zweimal.
1x Speicherl
..
Der Regler fragt das Hei zgert ab, und
schaltet die einmali ge Aufl adung aus,
sobald das Hei zgert den Speicher
aufgel aden hat.
Ist der Speicher bereits Aufgel aden
wird die einmali ge Aufl adung nach
45 Minuten abgeschaltet.
Sie knnen die einmali ge Aufl adung
auch manuell abschalten, indem Sie
die Partyt aste einmal drcken. Der
Schrift zug 1x Speicherl. verschwindet.
2.4 One-off filling for hot water
(Not for stored water in GB)
Your appli ance is fitted with a function
that provi des for one-off filling with t ank
water. This allows you to fill the hot-water
t ank immedi ately or in case of
combination boilers (VUW, VMW) to
activate the warm-st art function of the
Aqua- Comfort system. This function is
useful when for example a l arge
quantity of hot water is required an hour
earlier than normal. This function can
only be activated if the operating mode
switch is in the position .
Press the party overri de button (2,

front-si de of panel) twice.
The displ ay will show the message
1x t ank-fill.
The controller polls the heating appli ance
and shuts down the one-off filling
function, as soon as the heating
appli ance has filled up the t ank.
If the t ank is already full, the one-off
filling function is shut down after 45
minutes.
You can also shut down the one-off
filling function manually by pressing
the party button once.
The 1x t ank-fill displ ay message will
now disappear.
2.4 Remplissage unique de l'eau chaude
Votre appareil est dot de l a fonction de
remplissage exceptionnel de l'eau du
ballon. Celle-ci vous permet de remplir
le ballon d'eau chaude et activer le
systme de Aqua- Comfort sur les appa-
reils VUW. Cel a est recommand quand
vous avez besoin d'une plus grande
quantit d'eau chaude que d'habitude
une heure plus tt par exemple.
Cette fonction ne peut tre active que si
l'interrupteur de slection de mode est
sur l a position .
Pressez l a touche Party (2, cl apet

front al) deux fois.
Sur l'cran apparat l'inscri ption
1x remplissage ballon
Le thermost at interroge l' appareil de
chauff age et dsactive le remplissage
exceptionnel ds que l' appareil de
chauff age a rempli le ballon.
Si le ballon est dj rempli, le
remplissage exceptionnel s'teint
aprs 45 minutes.
Vous pouvez arrter manuellement le
remplissage exceptionnel en pressant
une fois l a touche Party. L'inscri ption
1x remplissage ballon disparat.

3 Energiespartipps
Stellen Sie die Raumtemperatur nur so
hoch ein, da diese fr Ihr Behaglich-
keitsempfinden gerade ausreicht.
Jedes Grad darber hinaus bedeutet
einen unnti gen Energieverbrauch
von etwa 6 %.
Senken Sie die Raumtemperatur fr
die Zeiten Ihrer Nachtruhe und
Abwesenheit ab.
ffnen Sie whrend der Hei zperiode
das Fenster nur zum Lften und nicht
zur Temperaturregelung. Eine kurze
Stolftung ist wirkungsvoller und
energiesparender als l ange
offenstehende Ki ppfenster.
Stellen Sie whrend des Lftens den
Betriebsartenschalter (s. Gerteber-
sicht) auf Absenken (Symbol ).

3 Energy saving hints
Set your room temperature in such a
way that it just reaches your comfort
level. Every degree over and above
that level represents an unnecessary
waste of energy of about 6%.
Reduce your room temperature during
the ni ght and when the dwelling is
not occupied.
When the heating is on open
windows for airing only - not for
regul ating the room temperature.
Short periods of airing are more
effective than having a small window
open for long periods.
During airing switch the operating
mode of the appli ance to Ni ght
setting (Symbol ) to avoi d
activating the heating mode.
In the room where the thermost at is
fixed all radi ator valves should be left
in the fully open position.
Do not cover your thermost at with
furniture, curt ains or other objects. It
must have free access to the air
circul ating in the room.

4 Basic settings

Der nebenstehenden Tabelle knnen Sie
die werkseiti gen Einstellungen
entnehmen.
Sind Sie mit den Einstellungen zufrieden
brauchen Sie keine weiteren nderungen
mehr vorzunehmen.
Wollen Sie die eine oder andere Einstel-
lung ndern, gehen Sie bitte in das
entsprechende Kapitel der Bedienungsan-
leitung.
Tipp!
Bei genderten Einstellungen ist es
sinnvoll, die Daten in die freien Felder
der nebenstehenden Tabelle einzutragen.
5 Setting the timer programs
The system can control a heating circuit,
the hot-water supply and the circul ation
pump.
5.1 Pre-set values
The timer programs for the indivi dual
circuits are f actory adjusted to normal
def ault settings. The opposite t able shows
all values which already have been pre-
set. If you are happy with those settings
there is no need for any further action.
Should you wish to change the one or
other settings please look at the
respective chapter in the instructions.

You mi ght find it helpful to enter any
changed settings into the empty
boxes of the t able opposite.

den Regler an die Hei zungsanl age
anzupassen. Die Funktionen,
Einstellbereiche und werkseiti gen
Einstellungen knnen Sie der
nebenstehenden Tabelle entnehmen.
Die Anpassung auf Ihre Hei zungsanl age
hat Ihr Inst all ateur bei der Erstinbetrieb-
nahme vorgenommen. Im Normalf all ist
keine nderung mehr erforderlich.
Da diese Einstellungen einen Einfluss auf
die Arbeitsweise und Wirtschaftlichkeit
Ihrer Anl age haben, sollten sie nur von
einem Fachmann vorgenommen werden.

6 Special functions

As these adjustments have a bearing on
the running and efficient operation of
your system, they should only be carried

message Language in the

groes Volumen in der Hei zungsanl age,
Leistung des Hei zgertes etc.).
Zum Beispiel kann bei Problemen mit
einer berdimensionierten Anl age durch
Verringerung des Wertes das Regel-
verhalten verbessert werden.
Raumtemperatur (RT)-Abgleich
Mit dieser Funktion knnen ungnsti ge
Einflsse auf den Raumtemperaturfhler
ausgeglichen werden.
Thermische Desinfektion
Ist die Funktion auf ein geset zt, wird
jeden Mittwoch mit dem ersten Schalt-
fenster fr die Speicherl adung die
thermische Desinfektion frei gegeben.
Diese Funktion wird nicht von allen
Gerten unterstt zt, bitte lesen Sie in der
entsprechenden Bedienungs- bzw.
Inst all ationsanleitung nach.
Sol ange das Hei zgert die Desinfektion
auf ein geset zt hlt, wird vom Regler
die Zirkul ationspumpe angesteuert.
Die thermische Desinfektion dauert ca. 2
Stunden, whrend dieser Zeit ist kein
Hei zbetrieb mglich.
Rgulation tout ou rien
En cas de besoin, il est possi ble de
modifier l a rgul ation tout ou rien en
rgul ation const ante.
Adaptation
Avec cette fonction, l a rgul ation peut
tre adapte en fonction des carac-
teristi ques de l'inst all ation chauff age (par
exemple gros volume dans l'inst all ation,
puissance de l' appareil, etc.).
Par exemple, en cas de problme avec
une inst all ation surdimensionne, on peut
amliorer l a raction de l a rgul ation en
abaissant l a valeur
Compensation de temp. ambiante (RT)
Cette fonction permet de compenser des
influences df avorables sur l a sonde de
temprature ambi ante.
Dsinfection thermique
Si l a fonction est mise sur " marche " ,
chaque mercredi, l a dsinfection ther-
mi que est dclenche avec l a premire
fentre de commande pour le remplissage
du ballon. Cette fonction n'est pas sup-
porte par tous les appareils, veuillez
consulter votre manuel d'inst all ation et
d'utilisation.
Tant que l' appareil de chauff age main-
tient l a dsinfection sur " marche " , l a
pompe de recycl age est pilote par le
thermost at. La dsinfection thermi que dure
environ 2 heures. Pendant cette dsin-
fection, le chauff age ne peut fonctionner.
On-off control
When required, the regul ator can be
converted from on-off to continuous
control mode.
Control mode/ line matching
This function allows the regul ator mode to
be matched to the characteristics of the
heating system (e. g. l arge volume in the
heating system, performance of heating
device, etc.).
In the case of problems with an
excessively-l arge system for example
this value can be decreased in order to
improve controller performance.
Room temperature (RT) equalization
This function can be used to compensate
for any undesired influences on the room-
temperature sensor.
Thermal Disinfecting
(only available with a compatible boiler
and electronics)
If this function is set to O N, the thermal
disinfecting system is activated every
Wednesday along with the first activation
window of the t ank-filling function.
This function is not supported by all
appli ances, so please read the
corresponding operating or inst all ation
instructions.
For as long as the heating system
disinfecting function is set to O N, the
controller runs the circul ation pump.

8 Error messages
In case of a f ault with the thermost at the
following error messages can appear:
Fault
A f ault has occurred in the appli ance.
No Connect.
The connection between appli ance
and thermost at is not working.
Check in your operating instructions of
the appli ance if you can rectify the
problem yourself, if not please call an
inst aller.
Maintenance:
(only available with a compatible
boiler and electronics; currently not
available in GB)
The maintenance displ ay indicates
that the heating system is due for
servicing. Once the heating system
has reached a cert ain pre-set period
of operation, the appli ance sends a
maintenance si gnal to the controller.
The maintenance si gnal is activated /
processed by the heating appli ance.
This function is not supported by all
appli ances, so please read the
corresponding operating or
inst all ation instructions.
8 Messages d'erreur

The heating system can be controlled
remotely by means of a communications
interf ace (accessory). This controls,
among other things, the operating mode
and the required room temperature
(follow the inst all ation instructions for the
accessory).
When remote control is being used, the
displ ay shows the symbol , the
required room temperature that has been
set and the remote controlled operating
mode.
By activating the function switch or the
day temperature selector, the remote
control function is discontinued.
11 Factory-adjusted elements
If you wish to return the device to its
f actory- adjusted def ault settings, press the
party button (2) and the adjuster (3) at
the same time (rear-f ace of panel, page
58). The displ ay shows the fl ashing
def ault set. message.
Keep both buttons pressed until message
stops fl ashing. The dat a can now be
reset.

2 Regelgert montieren
2.1 Wandmontage
Bei der Wandmont age ist fol gendes zu
beachten:
Der gnsti gste Mont ageort ist meistens im
Hauptwohnraum an einer Innenwand in
ca. 1, 5 m Hhe.
Dort soll das Regel gert die zirkulierende
Raumluft ungehindert von Mbeln,
Vorhngen oder sonsti gen Gegenst nden
erf assen knnen. Der Anbringungsort
soll so gewhlt werden, dass weder die
Zugluft von Tr oder Fenster noch
Wrmequellen wie Hei zkrper, Kamin-
wand, Fernsehgert oder Sonnenstrahlen
das Regel gert direkt beeinflussen
knnen. Im Zimmer, in dem das
Regel gert angebracht ist, mssen alle
Hei zkrper-ventile voll geffnet sein,
wenn die Raumtemperaturaufschaltung
aktiviert ist.
2 Installing the thermostat
2.1 Installation on a wall
The room thermost at must be inst alled in
a position which ensures a correct
functionning.
The best pl ace to fix the thermost at is
usually in a main living area, on an
insi de wall at a hei ght of approx. 1. 5 m.
The thermost at should be freely exposed
to the circul ating air in the room, and
should not be covered by furniture,
curt ains or other objects. The exact fixing
pl ace should be chosen in such a way,
that the thermost at is not directly exposed
to draughts from doors or windows, or
direct heating sources such as radi ators,
chimney walls, TVs or sun li ght. In the
room where the thermost at is inst alled,
radi ator valves have to be kept fully
open at all times.

Le thermost at d ambi ance doit tre pl ac
un endroit appropri pour son
fonctionnement.
Le lieu de mont age le plus f avorable est
gnralement situ sur un mur intrieur
de l a pice dhabit ation princi pale,
une hauteur de 1, 5 m.
C'est l que l a rgul ation doit capter l' air
qui circule dans l a pice, sans que des
meubles, des ri deaux ou d' autres objets
ne constituent une entrave quelconque.
Le lieu de mont age doit tre choisi de
telle sorte que ni les courants d' air
provenant des portes ou des fentres, ni
les sources de chaleur tels que les
radi ateurs, les parois des chemines, les
tlviseurs ou le rayonnement sol aire ne
puissent influer directement sur l a
rgul ation. Dans l a pice o l a
rgul ation est inst alle, tous les robinets
des radi ateurs doivent tre compltement
ouverts en permanence quand l a fonction
temprature ambi ante est active.

Verlegen Sie die elektrischen Leitungen
zum Hei zgert zweckmi gerweise
schon vor Anbringen des Regel gertes.
Gehen Sie wie fol gt vor:
Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Kabel

zum Regel gert stromlos ist.
Drcken Sie eine Schraubendreher-

spit ze in die Haltenocken an der
Oberseite des Regel gertes leicht ein
und nehmen Sie die Mont agepl atte
(1) vom Regel gert (2) ab.
Bringen Sie zwei Befesti gungsbohrun-

gen (3) mit Durchmesser 6 mm
entsprechend nebenstehender
Abbildung an und set zen Sie die
mitgelieferten Dbel ein.
Fhren Sie das Anschlukabel durch

die Kabeldurchfhrung (4).
Befesti gen Sie die Mont agepl atte mit

den bei den mitgelieferten Schrauben
an der Wand.
Schlieen Sie das Anschlukabel

gem dem fol genden Kapitel 2. 2
Elektrischer Anschlu an. Beachten
Sie die Hinweise!
Set zen Sie das Regleroberteil so auf

die Mont agepl atte, dass die Stifte an
der Rckseite des Oberteils in die
Aufnahmen passen.
Drcken Sie das Regleroberteil auf

die Mont agepl atte, bis es einrastet.
2.1 Installation on a wall (cont.)
It is advisable to run the electric cabling
to the heating appli ance before the
actual fixing of the thermost at. To inst all
the thermost at proceed as follows:
Turn the main switch of the appli ance

to " off.
Press the end of a screw driver into

the fixing holes on top of the
thermost at and carefully remove the
cover (1) from the thermost at (2).
Make two fixing holes (3) of 6mm

di ameter as per the att ached drawing
and insert the wall plugs supplied.
Run the connection cable through the

cable channel (4).
Fix the mounting pl ate on the wall

using the two screws supplied.
Connect the cable as shown to the

terminal stri p (1) of the thermost at.
Pl ace the thermost at top onto the

mounting pl ate in such a way that the
fixing lugs at the top of the thermost at
locate into the fixing holes.
Press the thermost at onto the pl ate

until it clicks in position.
2.1 Montage mural (suite)
Posez, comme il se doit, les cbles
lectri ques de raccordement l' appareil
avant mme d'inst aller l a rgul ation.
Procdez comme suit:
Mettez l'interrupteur princi pal de

l' appareil sur " Arrt " .
Enfoncez lgrement une pointe de

tournevis dans les ergots de retenue de
l a f ace suprieure de l a rgul ation et
retirez l a pl aque de mont age (1) de l a
rgul ation (2).
Introduisez les chevilles comprises dans

le matriel livr dans deux alsages
de fixation (3) d'un di amtre de 6 mm,
selon l a fi gure ci-contre.
Faites passer le cble de raccordement

travers le passage pour cble (4).
Fixez l a pl aque de mont age au mur

avec les deux vis comprises dans le
matriel livr.
Connectez le cble de raccordement

l a rglette bornes (1) de l a rgul ation
conformment l a fi gure ci-contre.
Posez l a partie suprieure de l a

rgul ation sur l a pl aque de mont age
de telle sorte que les broches de l a
f ace arrire de l a partie suprieure
pntrent dans les ouvertures.
Serrez l a partie suprieure de l a

rgul ation sur l a pl aque de mont age
jusqu' ce qu'elle prenne l'encoche.

Nehmen Sie die Anschluverdrahtung

gem der nebenstehenden
Abbildung vor.
An den Anschluklemmen 7, 8, 9
wird der Regler angeschlossen.
Bei Anschlu des VRT 390 muss eine
Brcke zwischen Klemme 3 und 4 des
Hei zgertes eingeset zt werden.
2.2 Electrical connection

When connecting the VRT 390 unit,
there must be a bri dge connection

heating appli ance.
