 About the rules:
 The business should be in the fields where
foreigners are allowed to own more than 50% of
the capital (from July 30th 2007). Otherwise,
Mekong Capital would only invest at the legal level.
 The business should not be directly competitive with
the current funding of Mekong Capital.”

 Both English & Vietnamese are OK.
 Should contain:
 One soft & one hard versions with signatures of all
the team members on the hard & their names on the
soft.
 Main parts: Overview (< 1 page)/Detail plan/Finance
report/CVs of team members & people who are going
to run the company/Salary system for the
management board.

 Judgment is based on:
 The business plan:
 The market size and its development trench.
 The business model has been proved to be profitable
in Viet Nam or other similar countries.
 Suitable assumptions in the finance report (including
a method to price the company).
 A complete plan of a strong human resource:
recruitment and development.
 Strategy:
 Deeply analyze the market.
 Originated idea.
 Weak points and how to minimize them.
 Successive points and how to maximize them.

 What will the “champion” get?
 400.000$ will be invested in the company (in which
10.000$ will belong to the champion).
 The management board will get 50% of the stocks
after 5 years if the company can be priced 20M$ at
that time (i.e., 10M$).
 CEO = 3000$ and 2 managers = 2000$ per month.
 After the 1st year, the salary will be increased
30%/year but can not be over 7,5% the annual profit
of the company that year.
 Mekong capital will support the formation of the
company.

 Competition’s milestones:
 Early deadline - March 30th 2007.
 Late deadline - May 30th 2007.
 First round - June 15th 2007 : interview 20 best
teams.
 Second round - June 30th 2007 : 5 best teams.
 Deadline for optimization - July 15th 2007.
 Final round – July 30th 2007.
 Announcement: August 2007.

The idea
 Business logistic:
 Provide the third party inbound logistic
services in Viet Nam.
 The services include:
 Standard : Pick and pack, warehousing,
distributing.
 Advanced : Standard + Import/Export,
Insurance, Online ordering and tracking.
 Premium : Integrate with the customers and
take their entire logistic function.

 The market size and its development:
 The market size is huge: Logistic has not been
well developed in Viet Nam (just small individual
transportation and warehousing).
 Its development is very bright:
 Viet Nam is building the country, so she needs a
national service to import/export, transport, store
and distribute everything.
 An increasing number of foreign vendors are working
in Viet Nam, they need a professional and national
logistic system.

 Develop a national branch of
transportation and warehousing by self-
building and co-operating.
 Do the Export/Import, Insurance
procedure as a proxy of the customers.
 Provide value-added services for
customers with an efficient IT network
(real time tracking, ordering, changing
orders…)

 1st: Build and maintain a warehousing network
with a common quality standard.
 2nd: Build and maintain a transportation network
with a common quality standard.
 3rd: Build and maintain a quality management
network which is highly-informative and fast-
response.

 5th: Obtain the ISO quality control system.
 6th: We’re having a big competitor.
