Liverpool R.C. Archdiocesan Trustees Reg. Charity No. 232709

Welcome : We welcome into Gods family Olivia Rose Gillard who will be baptised during Mass on Sunday. The Christian Community welcomes you with great joy.

Saints of the Week : This week is a very English week in the Liturgical calendar as we celebrate the feasts of some great saints of our country : Tuesday is the feast of our own St Edmund Arrowsmith and we pray for the staff and students of our High School who return this week. Wednesday is the feast of St Aidan who, following in the steps of St Columba, brought the Gospel from Iona to Lindisfarne and the north of England. Thursday is the feast of three great women of the time of the Reformation - St Margaret Clitherow, St Anne Line and St Margaret Ward - all of whom were martyred for their faith. Friday is the feast of Gregory the great, Apostle of England, who sent St Augustine of Canterbury to England in 596. Volunteers, Please! As many of you will know, the area to the side and rear of the Parish Centre is greatly overgrown and in need of a lot of work if we are to bring it back into use rather than it be left as wasteland. This will not happen overnight but, as I heard recently, the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. If anyone has an hour or two to spare on Monday of this week (Bank Holiday Monday) I would be grateful for some assistance, especially if you could bring a strimmer, hedgecutter or even plain old shears. Weather permitting, we will start at 10am. Many thanks. Flower Arranging: Wednesday 1.30pm in the Smith Room : 1 long and low basket with handle. If you dont have 1 we have some here in church. 1 chrysanth., 1 spray carnation + something else of your choice and foliage. Dont forget your square round container to go in the basket. Congratulations to Amanda Sullivan and Kevin Ryder who will be married here on Friday of this week. May the Lord bless you all the days of your life together. Emmaus Group : The first meeting for adults wishing to be baptised or received into full communion with the Church (RCIA) will take place on Tuesday 6th September at 7pm in the Smith Room. If you know of anyone who may be interested please let me know. Legion of Mary : On Wednesday 7th September the Legion of Mary will be hosting Mass to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the founding of the Legion of Mary in Ireland and the 70th Anniversary of our own parish Praesidium. Refreshments will be served in the Parish Centre after Mass. All are welcome. New Mass Times :Next weekend sees the introduction of the new timetable of Masses between Our Ladys and St Wilfrids. Inevitably, this will result in a degree of uncertainty for many people but we may be confident that the Lord will guide our steps in the weeks ahead. May I take this opportunity to thank all who, week by week, give of themselves as readers, choristers, Eucharistic Ministers, catechists, collectors, counters and countless other ways, and express the hope that you will continue to do so wherever and whenever you choose to celebrate the Lords day. Last weeks Collection ; Gift Aid : 296.90 Loose Plate : 225.56 Total : 522.46 Day for Life: 103.99 Many Thanks. Your Parish Priest: Fr. John Gorman
