Specific Issue to be discussed: The risk (trend??) involved in the transmission of sensitive information via electronic means (internet and mobile networks). OR. The loss of sensitive information through electronic transmission. Known information that is relevant to understanding the issue: It is not uncommon for individuals/companies/organizations to use his/her/their personal/confidential particulars (e.g. full name, address, IDs, passwords etc.) to make purchases via the Internet/mobile networks. Problems: Leakage of information Types of information 1. Personal -> full name, address, health status, passwords, IDs, social security number, bank a/c no. etc. dignity, financial losses, 2. Corporate -> confidential information/directives (e.g. R&D information). Financial losses. 3. Government agencies-> intelligence

1. Another kind of security problem are problems due to users neglecting their own private informations. A good example of this kind of neglection is when someone gives away his or her email adress on a public forum. Some "crawler bots" (small programs coded to collect email adresses) could find the adress and add it to a mass-mail list, sending spam to the user. This may not be a dangerous "security" problem but the same can also happen with user names and passwords. Most of the big hacking cases occur simply because an important user of a particular network gave away his private information. 2.
