Anapanasati

What is Anapanasati?
In Ancient Pali language...
ana means in - breath
apana means out - breath
sati means to - be - one - with
Therefore, the total complex word... ANAPANASATI...
means... to keep one's total attention and awareness only on
one's normal breathing process.
Anapanasati ('Be with the breath') discovered by
Gautama Buddha is the easiest and fastest in getting
thoughtless state by 'observing one's own breath' without any
need of taking upadesam/deeksha/theekshai from any other
gurus. 'Our own breath is our own GURU'. All the masters in
the pictures shown in this document tells the mankind to do meditation and to live a
healthy life on earth.
Why Anapanasati? (Plus points of Anapanasati)
1. One can easily learn on his/her own without any need of approaching
yoga/meditation teachers and without any need of taking weekly/monthly course
outside as the case may be.
2. No cost is involved in learning.
3. Easily and comfortably be done in one’s own room/house or at your favorite
place.
4. Easily done during journey in bus, train, car, plane etc without getting bored and
without wasting time.
5. No age restrictions. No religious difference. No time limit. It's an ongoing process
which has to be treated as one of your daily routines.
6. No side effects unlike in Hatayoga/Pranayama where one has to undergo perfect
training in the presence of an expert guru/teacher/master.
7. No need to leave or come away from marriage/family life. No need to stop your
job/business life.
8. No other minus point (just jokin...but true)

Anapanasati Meditation Process in short:

Sit comfortably, close your eyes, clasp your hands, cross your legs, and observe
your natural rhythm of breath.

Fig: Meditation Posture

Enhanced process of Anapanasati Meditation:
1. Choose a little dark and decent place to begin.
2. Select a very comfortable posture to sit.
3. Make your spine straight. Never try to erect your spine always
4. Legs should be crossed and hands should be clasped (hand in
hand and fingers in fingers). (Recommended posture is
Sukhasan or Padmasan)
5. Take your own time to adjust your posture as comfortable as you
can so that in that posture you can be still without moving for as
long as you can.
6. Start closing your eyes very slowly, the same way a baby does
before going to sleep. You can even take more than two minutes
in closing the eyes.
7. Now Speak out loud or tell yourself the following affirmations
(these affirmations help in doing the meditation a better way and
in proper manner) ....
My whole body has
started to relax and is relaxing
I am observing my breath (start
observing natural rhythm of
your breath...how air is getting
inhaled and then how it is
getting exhaled)
I am calming my restless waves
of my mind
No way my thoughts and
outside sounds/noices disturb
my meditation.
I am entering into the thought-
free mind zone at the earliest.
I am entering much deep into the meditation.
I am getting flooded by the Cosmic Energy. (Illustration is given in
adjacent figure )
I can withstand any amount of Cosmic Energy inflow.
Each and every cell of my body stores the Cosmic Energy.
All my physical and mental debris are removed by the flow and
storage of cosmic energy in my body.
8. Just observe your breath naturally and never try to
exercise/concentrate upon your breath. Now simply witness
yourself what is going on within. Observation alone has to be
placed and never concentrate on any part of body or thought.
9. Any of the above affirmations can be repeated if you feel that
you are distracted by the thoughts or outside noise or
environment.
10.Be in this meditative state (thought-free state) for as long as you
can (Minimum 10mins…). More the time you spend in thought-
less state, more the cosmic energy you receive/store.

That's it you are doing meditation! 

At the end (before opening the eyes) keep your palms on your eyes for
atleast 5 secs and slowly open the eyes and free yourself from the
posture.
Note: The message to the mankind given by the masters Shiva, Gautama Buddha and
Jesus Christ from the above pictures is to practice meditation well.
