¿IS JESUS SEATED NOW IN DAVID’S

THRONE? (Luke 1:32)

By Mario A Olcese

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SURPRISE YOU: ¡ JESUS IS NOT SEATED IN DAVID’S

THRONE UNTIL THE SECOND COMING!

What the book of Revelation has to tell us

INTRODUCTION

Amillennialists and Full Preterists sustain that our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, is
now seated in David’s throne in heaven. They allege that the Messiah returned
to heaven to govern his people from his personal throne (“the throne of
David”), fulfilling this way Luke's prophecy in chapter 1 and verses 32, 33.
However, what these amillennialists ignores is that Jesus the Messiah didn't go
to heaven to sit in his own throne but in his Father's throne!. These teachers
ignore that The Messiah will have (at his return) his throne AND HIS
GOVERNMENT in the earth (2 Sam.23:1, VV.1960, Jer. 3:17), and that His Father
has now His own throne in heaven where He is seated with Christ. Therefore, it
is moment to clarify this matter that has been gone for high by most of Bible
students. We are going to expose the error of the teaching that says that the
Messiah is now reigning in his throne (“that of David”) in heaven, either from
the year 33 AD or from the 1914 AD.

THE TESTIMONY OF JOHN AND THE APOCALYPSE

Let us examine what JOHN says in Revelation on the existent thrones in

heaven, and then we will examine all the verses where the word “Throne” or
“thrones” appear. In this way we will be able to discover if a personal throne
exists for the Father and another personal throne for the Son--- and in passing
for the Holy Spirit! The texts where the words “throne” and “thrones” appear
in the book of Revelation are the following ones: Rev. 4:2,4,5,6,9,10; 5:1,6,7,11,13;
6:16, 7:8,10,11, 15,17; 8:3;11:16; 12:5; 14:3,5; 16:10,17; 19:4,5; 20:4,11; 21:5; 22:3.

REVELATION 4: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10:

Revelation 4

2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven,
and One sitting on the throne.

3And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance;
and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.

4Around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw
twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in (white garments, and (golden crowns on
their heads.

5Out from the throne come flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of
thunder And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which
are the seven Spirits of God;

6and before the throne there was something like a sea of glass, like crystal; and
in the center and around the throne, four living creatures full of eyes in front
and behind.

9And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who
sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever,

10the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and
will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before
the throne, saying,

COMMENT

In these verses it is spoken of a single Divine Person which is seated in a throne

and surrounded by 24 thrones that are for the 24 elders. Notice that these verses
doesn't says that the 24 thrones are surrounding two thrones, and much less,
three.

REVELATION 5: 1, 6, 7, 11, 13:

Revelation 5

1I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a book written inside
and on the back, sealed up with seven seals.

2
6And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a
Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the
seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

7And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the
throne.

11Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and
the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of
myriads, and thousands of thousands,

13And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the
earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, "To Him who sits
on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion
forever and ever."

COMMENT

If we examine carefully these verses of the chapter 5 of Revelation where the

word “throne” appears, we won't find evidence that the Messiah is sat down in
his own individual or personal throne. This is clear.

REVELATION 6:16

Revelation 6

16and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from
the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the...”

COMMENT

In the chapter 6 of Revelation neither we find evidence that Jesus the Messiah is
seated in his own throne in heaven.

REVELATION 7: 9, 10, 11, 15, 17

Revelation 7

9After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could
count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing
before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm
branches were in their hands;

10and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation to our God who sits on
the throne, and to the Lamb."

3
11And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders
and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and
worshiped God,

15"For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day
and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His
tabernacle over them.

17for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will
guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from
their eyes."

COMMENT

In this chapter 7 of Revelation we have examined all the verses where the word
“throne” appears and we observe that no one say anything that the Son is
seated on His own throne. In verse 10, for example, we discover that the one
who is seated in the throne is the Father and not the Son.

REVELATION 8:3

Revelation 8:

3Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much
incense was given to him, so that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints
on the golden altar which was before the throne.

COMMENT

Neither in chapter eight of Revelation it’s impossible to find that The Messiah is
seated in his personal or singular throne.

REVELATION 11:16

Revelation 11

16And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their
faces and worshiped God.

COMMENT

Neither we can discover in chapter eleven of Revelation that Jesus the Messiah
is seated in his personal or singular throne. It is true that it is spoken of thrones
but these are for the 24 elders.

REVELATION 12:5

4
Revelation 12

5And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a
rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne.

COMMENT

In chapter twelve of Revelation appear the word ‘throne' once in the verse 5.
nevertheless, this throne is not the Son's throne but of Yahweh, the Father.

REVELATION 14:3

Revelation 14

3And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living
creatures and the elders; and no one could learn the song except the one
hundred and forty-four thousand who had been purchased from the earth.

COMMENT

It is clear that neither in chapter 14 of Revelation is spoken of a personal throne

of the Son of God. The verse 5 says clearly that the throne is of God, the Father.

REVELATION 16:17

Revelation 16

17The seventh angel poured his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of
the temple, from the throne, saying, "It is done!"

COMMENT

Neither in chapter 16 is spoken of a throne for the Son of God. It is simply

spoken of a throne that is in the temple of heaven.

REVELATION 19: 4, 5

Revelation 19

4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and
worshiped God who is seated on the throne, saying, "Amen. Hallelujah!" 5 And
from the throne came a voice crying, "Praise our God, all you his servants, you
who fear him, small and great."

COMMENT

5
In the chapter 19 of Revelation neither are spoken of a throne that belongs to the
Son of God, but to God alone. This is very important because some people don't
distinguish this singular detail.

REVELATION 20: 4, 11

Revelation 20

4 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was
committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their
testimony to Jesus and for the word of God, and who had not worshiped the
beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their
hands. They came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 11 Then I
saw a great white throne and him who sat upon it; from his presence earth and
sky fled away, and no place was found for them.

COMMENT

This is a vision of the coming era when Jesus the Messiah inaugurates his
millennial Kingdom in the earth. The thrones that are seen are the thrones of the
martyrs that will reign with The Messiah in the earth. In Psalms 122:3-5 is
revealed that the thrones of judgment will be in Jerusalem and not in heaven.

REVELATION 21:5

Revelation 21

5 And he who sat upon the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." Also
he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true."

COMMENT

Neither this verse (neither their context) tells us that this throne belongs to the
Son of God, but rather to the Father.

REVELATION 22:1, 3

Revelation 22

1 Then he showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing
from the throne of God and of the Lamb 3 There shall no more be anything
accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants
shall worship him.

COMMENT

6
Chapter 22 refers basically to the era of the Kingdom in the new earth, and the
only verse that speaks to us of the Father's throne is the 3rd. But anything in the
context indicates us that this vision is one heaven, but of the new earth, when
God and its Son dwells with the men (21:1-3).

FINAL COMMENTS:

JESUS THE MESSIAH IS SEATED IN HIS FATHER’S THRONE

We have demonstrated that the Lord Jesus the Messiah is not seated in HIS
throne of authority in heaven. It is crucial to mention that the same Lord Jesus
says the following statement: “He who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on
my throne, as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne”. Take
note that the Messiah is seated in His Father's throne--- Not in his! This truth is
gone for high by Bible students. Most believes that our Lord is now seated in
his own throne (that of David, his father in the flesh) in heaven, but this doesn't
have base in the Scriptures. It is impossible that the Messiah is seated
simultaneously in his throne and in His Father's throne. But there will be a
throne for the Father and another for the Son when the New Jerusalem
descends to the earth and God and His Messiah will be among men. Therefore,
Jesus has still not seated in his own throne, because it has not arrived its hour to
make it, neither the hour of the saints. But it will arrive the day that Jesus and
their saints occupy their thrones in the earth (Daniel 7: 13, 14, 18, 22, 27).
