TOSP is the Awards and Formation Program established by businessman Jose Concepcion Jr. as a way of galvanizing the youth into action for social progress. It has honored the likes of Dr. Patricia Licuanan, Cecille Guidote-Alvarez, Abp. Antonio Ledesma SJ, Atty. Rene Saguisag, the Late Senator Raul S. Roco, Fr. Manoling Francisco SJ, and Vicky PinedaGarchitorena, among others. The programs prestige stems from the fact that most of its Awardees are now models of excellence, integrity, leadership, and socio-civic engagement. What distinguishes the program is the fact that it is not merely an awarding ceremony, rather, it is a formation program where finalists undergo intensive self-actualization and values formation sessions. This ensures that the finalists are challenged into being better persons and leaders than they already are, in service of God and country. In effect, the finalists remain dedicated to the program, thus the creation of the TOSP Alumni Community (TOSPAC) a community of leaders who seek to inspire and serve. The TOSPAC is now an official program partner by providing needed human capital and acting as vanguards of the program standards. As of this day, the TOSPAC has community chapters in 8 regions in the country, working hand in hand with Regional CHED Offices and other local partners in implementing the TOSP Regional Search and Formation Program. The TOSPAC also serves as trainers and facilitators for leadership trainings for schools, business and non-government organizations. The TOSP honors graduating college students who have not only excelled academically, but have also lived a life of dedicated service to be able to make a difference in their respective communities, organizations, and fields of interest. It is the domain of dedicated servantleaders who have heeded the call of life-long learning, leading and serving. This years search is extra special as we commemorate the 150th birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal the inspiration for the creation of the TOSP Program, the 50th year anniversary of the TOSP Program itself, and the 10th year anniversary of the TOSP Alumni Community. Its 150 years of inspiration, 50 years of celebration, and 10 years of affirmation. This years theme then focuses on being a BayanI a call for the I to serve, to inspire, and to lead the Bayan with a heart so that we all become one with the Bayan and be a BayanI. This theme cascades into all pipelined activities for the 2011 Search such as the Regional Search, the National Week Activities, Youth Hours, and Formation Programs. This years logo perfectly encapsulates this challenge of living out heroism. The word Bayan is emboldened to represent the need for Filipinos to put the primacy on the nation, while the I is distinguished but not isolated to represent that the individual should stand out but not separate from the nation. The heart connects to the I to represent the necessity of developing a love for the Bayan within the I if the individual is to be a genuine BayanI. The TOSP is a commitment of RFM Foundation in partnership with the RFM Corporation, the Commission on Higher Education, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, National Book Store, and the TOSP Alumni Community.

BRIEF HISTORY OF TOSP AWARDS and FORMATION Program
1961 June 19, 100th birth year anniversary of Jose P. Rizal, the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) was launched by Mr. Jose Concepcion, Jr., publisher of Student Life. 1972 September 21, President Ferdinand Marcos declared the country under martial law. TOSP awards ceased to exist in the suppressive regime. 1988 November, RFM Corporation together with Rotary Club of Makati Central in cooperation with the Department of Education Culture and Sports (DECS) joined hands in reviving the search for the TOSP. 1991 RFM Foundation was established and the TOSP became an annual project of RFM Foundation, RFM Corporation, in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Makati Central, Commission on Higher Education and National Bookstore. 1994 To further expand the TOSP program, pilot regional TOSP searches were launched in Cordillera Administrative Region for Northern Luzon, Region VII in the Visayas, and Region XI for Mindanao. 1995 The regional searches of TOSP went to greater distance by the inclusion of Regions I, II, V, VI and X. 2001 TOSP alumni got involved in the search program by facilitating a three-day formation program. This marked the institutionalization of the TOSP Alumni Community. 2004 CALABARZON area was included recently in its effort to further expand the TOSP awards program, hoping that every region/province will have their own TOSP searches. 2008 - the National Capital Region started its own regional search, furthering the regionalization scheme. 2011 - the CALABARZON Region starts its own regional search, furthering the regionalization scheme

Three tablets appear below to signify what the TOSP commemorates this year, to wit: 150 years since Dr. Jose Rizals birth, the hero who served as the inspiration for the establishment of the Program in 1961; 50 years since the program was given birth to by Jose Concepcion Jr. in affirmation of the promise of the youth as the hope for the nation; and 10 years since the TOSP Alumni Community was born to serve as continuous inspiration for the youth as they move towards nation-building.
