The company is best known for its flagship product Coca-Cola , invented in 1886 by pharmacist John Stith Pemberton in Columbus, Georgia . The Coca-Cola formula and brand was bought in 1889 by Asa Candler who incorporated The Coca-Cola Company in 1892. Besides its namesake Coca-Cola beverage, Coca-Cola currently offers more than 500 brands in over 200 countries or territories and serves over 1.6 billion servings each day. Coca-Cola is recognized by 94% of the worlds population Approximately 10,450 Coca-Cola brand drinks are consumed around the world each second of every day. There are 27 different varieties of coke made by Coca-Cola First bottle of Coke was sold 120 years ago on May 8, 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia. From July 1998 to September 2000, Isdell served as chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola Beverages Plc in Great Britain . He retired as vice chairman of Coca-Cola in December 2001. From January 2002 to May 2004, Isdell was an international consultant to The Coca-Cola Company and headed his own investment company in Barbados . Mr. Isdell served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Coca-Cola, and has held these positions since June 1, 2004 until July 2008.

Challenges faced by coca cola

Isdell take some decisions about which he said Company salvation lies in simply tuning up soda operations and capitalizing on existing brands. We are not talking about radical change is strategy we are talking about dramatic changes in execution Isdell responded to the growing consumer interest in healthy beverages by introducing several new non-carbonated beverage brands. These included Minute Maid Juices to Go, Powerade sports beverage, flavored tea Nestea (in a joint venture with Nestle), Fruitopia fruit drink and Dasani water, among others.

Minute Maid division launched the Simply Orange brand of juices including orange juice.
