VI. ST. JOHN-ST. CHARLES DEANERY

ASCENSION OF OUR LORD: The CYO monthly meetings will be held on the
fourth Sunday after the 7 p.m. Mass in the Holy Family House...The remaining
sitting dates for families to take pictures for the upcoming Pictorial Directory are
Oct. 22-25 and Oct. 27-30.

HOLY FAMILY: The Saltzburg Cathedral Clock from the Extravaganza auction
is being raffled as a fund-raiser for the Altar Society and the Youth Group. The
clock was handmade from 200-year-old cypress wood. Its base is lighted and it
chimes on the quarter hour. Drawing is Nov. 16. For more information, phone

SACRED HEART OF JESUS: The Junior Beta Club is collecting black Coke
bottle caps through Oct. 31. The club earns five cents for each black cap
collected.

ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA: The parish will celebrate marriages of 25, 50 and
60 years on Nov. 22 at the 4:30 p.m. Mass. A reception at the CA building will
follow... Father Joseph Duc Dzien announced that, after consulting with priests of
the deanery, St.Anthony's will begin to schedule weddings for Saturday evenings.

ST. CHARLES BORROMEO: There will be an anniversary Mass for married


couples celebrating 25, 30, 40, 50 and 50-plus years of wedlock Oct. 25 at 4:30
p.m., with a reception following. Couples who qualify are asked to phone the
rectory, (985) 764-6383... The parish's annual golf tournament will take place
Nov. 14 at Ormond Country Club.

ST. GERTRUDE: The parish's Catholic Youth ministry has available clocks on a
plaque with a picture of the church for sale. Orders will be taken after all Masses.

ST. JOAN OF ARC: Mary Daigre was recently honored by the school on the
25th anniversary of her teaching career at the school. She is a fourth-grade
teacher...Fifth-grader Jaslyn Oberoi won the grand prize in the What it Means to
be Real essay contest. Among her prizes were a knapsack, T-shirt and a CD
player. The sponsor of the contest also gave a $600 check to the school on her
behalf... The next Senior Social will be held Oct. 30. The theme is Happy
Halloween.

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST: Winners of the recent Family Festival Pageant were
Sara Owens, Miss Queen; Rachel Held, Teen Queen and MaQue Hollins, Junior
Queen... Parishioners Gerner and Sybil Matherne recently celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary.

ST. MARK: The parish acknowledges the time and efforts of the teachers in the
school of religion: Teresa Henderson, kindergarten; Kayle Muller, first grade;
Clair Whittaker, third; Tammy Haydel, fourth; Paula Rechon, fifth; Kathy
Young, sixth; Tammy Cantrelle, seventh; Dawn Pintado, eighth; Lorraine
Faucheux, ninth; and Ernestine Kappel, 11th.

ST. PETER: The parish is calling all cooks to provide recipes for the second
edition of Heavenly Delights, the St. Peter Community cookbook. Recipes will
be accepted until Dec.1. The books will be available at the Mother's Day bake
sale on May 9, 2004... Volunteers are needed Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 to help prepare

VII. WEST BANK DEANERY

CHRIST THE KING: The parish will host a craft fair Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m.

ST. CLETUS: The Junior CYO will host a pizza night and volleyball tournament
after the 5 p.m. Mass Oct. 25... Children are invited to the parish hall and
breezeway to trick or treat Oct. 31 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Halloween festivities will
include games, face painting, and candy. The CYO will collect toiletries for
Covenant House at this event... All Saints Vigil Mass will be celebrated Oct. 31
at 5 p.m.

ST. JOACHIM: A race/walk will be held Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. Registration forms are
available in the book rack.

ST. JOSEPH: A comparative study of the Gospels is being offered Tuesdays at


10:30 a.m. through Nov. 25. For more information call the parish office at 368-
1313.

ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER: CCD, RCIA and IMANI registration will reopen
for one weekend, Oct. 25-26, in the church meeting room. The fee is $30 per
child. Classes will begin Oct. 29 at 6:45 p.m... The parish will sell raffle tickets
after all Masses Oct. 25-26. The drawing will be Nov. 16 at the Sweet Sale. First
prize will be $1,000.

ST. MARTHA: A fair appreciation dinner will be held Oct. 18 after the 5 p.m.
for everyone who worked to make Medieval Madness a success... The Youth
Ministry will present a Fall Festival Oct. 31. Halloween activities will include
trick or trunk, pumpkin decorating, a costume contest, bobbing for apples and
other activities... A workshop for extraordinary ministers of holy Communion
will take place Nov. 19 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Communion will take place Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon... Bishop Dominic
Carmon will preside over the sacrament of Confirmation Oct. 30 at 7 p.m... The
Blessing of Graves will begin at 10 a.m. Nov. 1 in St. Mary and St. Bartholomew
cemeteries... The school will host a skate night in the schoolyard Nov. 7 at 7
p.m... Geoffrey Vanison and Brittney Combel were selected as king and queen of
the Fall Fest for selling the most raffle tickets... Kevin Gilheany won first place
and the Iron Skillet Award for the best red beans.

HOLY SPIRIT: A baptismal seminar will take place Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. Call the
parish to register at 394-5492... John and Libby Vail recently celebrated their
50th anniversary.

ST. ANDREW THE APOSTLE: The parish recently honored couples celebrating
50 or more years of marriage with a special Mass and reception. They are
Edward and Delores Mulhearn, Jr., 57 years; Ephen and Vera Macaluso, Tom
and Enid Nielson and Melvin and Audrey Richoux, 50 years... The Ladies Guild
will meet Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the SANYO Building. Guest speaker will be
Barbara Turner, former president of Ursuline Academy.

ST. JOSEPH (Potash): An auction and raffle fund-raiser to benefit St. Patrick and
St. Joseph churches will be held at Port Sulphur Civic Center Nov. 1 at 5:30
p.m... Blessing of the Sick will be offered Nov. 9 at the 9 a.m. Mass.

ST. PATRICK: An evening for single, divorced and widowed parishioners will
be offered Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center... Blessing of the Graves
will take place Nov. 1 at noon in St. Patrick Cemetery... An auction and raffle
fund-raiser to benefit St. Patrick and St. Joseph churches will be held at Port
Sulphur Civic Center Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m... Blessing of the Sick will be offered at
the 4:30 p.m. Mass Nov. 8... The parish thanks Linda Destifano and her students
from Archbishop Blenk High School for directing the recent confirmation retreat.

OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP: The parish thanks fair chair-couples


Murray and Keri Armstrong, C.J. and Edie Freeney, Mike and Amy Mariana,

IX. ST. BERNARD DEANERY

OUR LADY OF LOURDES: The Rite of Welcoming will be held Oct. 26.

OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR: The Co-op Club will sponsor a Halloween
mini fair on the school grounds Oct. 31 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Newly
designed Halloween T-shirts will be sold.

ST. BERNARD: Father Herbert Kiff will celebrate the All Hallows Eve Mass in
St. Bernard Cemetery Oct. 31 at 5:30 p.m.... Archbishop Alfred C. Hughes will
celebrate an All Saints Day Mass at 1 p.m. Nov. 1 in the cemetery... The
Pumpkin Patch will begin Oct. 13 and run through Oct. 31... The parish will

begin having a 5:30 p.m. Vigil Mass Nov. 15.

ST. MARK: Grandparents Day will be celebrated at the school Oct. 28.
Grandparents are invited to visit classrooms from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m., followed by
a Mass at 8:30 a.m.

ST. MAURICE: The Fall bingo will be Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. in the gym. Cards are
$1 each. There will be hot dogs and chili for sale, a bake sale, a Thrift shop,
Parade of Prizes and a Wheel of Prizes.

SAN PEDRO PESCADOR: Family Day will be celebrated Oct. 26 at a 10:30


a.m. outdoor Mass. It will include a covered dish dinner.

X. EAST ST. TAMMANY-WASHINGTON DEANERY

ANNUNCIATION: Redemptorist Fathers Warren Drinkwater and John Morton


will lead the parish mission Oct. 26-30 at 7 p.m. each evening... Benedictine
Father Lawrence Phelps will bless graves at Bogalusa Cemetery Nov. 1 at 10
a.m. and at Hillview Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m.... Ron and Sundra Hauck will
hold a baptismal seminar Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at their home.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES: The Men's Club Fishing Rodeo will be Oct. 25 at
The Dock II Marina in Oak Harbor... The RCIA will have a Family Dinner Night
Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the Religious Education office.

ST. GENEVIEVE: Father Roel Lungay will bless graves around the Slidell area
Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon. All Saints Day Mass will be Nov 1 at 8 a.m... The
Creoles Sans Limits is offering free Creole classes at the White House.

ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS: The Saturday Vigil Mass will be at 4:30 p.m.
beginning Nov. 1... The Knights of Columbus will be collecting non-perishable
foods and monetary donations for Thanksgiving baskets.

ST. LUKE THE EVANGELIST: The Courtyard Craft Fair will be held Nov. 7
and 8... Marcy Mayeux has been elected president of the St. Luke Youth board...
The All Souls Mass of Remembrance will be held Nov. 2 at the 11 a.m. Mass...
The blessing of the Runners will be Oct. 25 beginning at 8:30 a.m...The parish
will hold a fish fry to raise funds for the Slidell Crisis Pregnancy Help Center
Nov. 1 from 7 to 11 p.m.

ST. MARGARET MARY: Boy Scout Troop 365 will be selling popcorn after all
Masses Nov. 1 and 2. Orders are being taken through Nov. 10... Respect Life
committee poster winners were Joshua Haab, fifth grade; Megan Bonck and
Lauren Hoth, tie, seventh grade and Scott Walley, eighth grade.

STS. PETER & PAUL: A relic of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos will be on
display in the parish hall Oct. 26 from 7:45 a.m. to noon... The parish will have a
blood drive for parishioner Aron Galiano Nov. 2 from 7:30 a.m. to l p.m.... A

XI. New Orleans East Deanery

RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD: Life and Lively Senior Citizens is


sponsoring a day trip to Crown Point on Nov. 5.

ST. MARIA GORETTI: The parish will host a listening session for the
archdiocesan Strategic Planning Process Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. All parishioners of St.
Bernard and New Orleans East deaneries are invited...There will be a Holy Mass
and Healing Service with stigmatist and mystic Alan Ames at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12.
His mission is many-fold, but primarily focuses on the eucharist, the rosary and
confession. The messages, based on his visions, stress a simple, conservative
form of Catholicism.

ST. PAUL THE APOSTLE: The Youth Group of St. Paul is inviting all youth
between the ages 13 and 18 years to become active members.

XII. West St. Tammany-Washington Deanery

MARY, QUEEN OF PEACE: Cynthia Durtsche was named steward of the


month for her dedicated service to the parish...The Peacemakers youth group is
collecting socks, hats and gloves for the Outreach to the Homeless Program.
They are also looking for old cell phones to benefit Crescent House for Battered
Women.

OUR LADY OF THE LAKE: New altar servers will meet Oct. 26 after the noon
Mass...The Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament will be Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. at
the Covington Country Club... A Supper and Substance will be held Oct. 25.

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST: Confirmation rehearsal will be Oct. 26, with
confirmation Oct. 28 at 7 p.m...The KC hayride will be Oct. 25 after the 5:30
p.m. Mass.

ST. PETER: A Mother-Daughter Program will be held Oct. 26 from 2 to 5 p.m.


in St. Mary Hall... Former Archbishop Philip M. Hannan will preside over a
celebration of the priesthood and consecrated life Oct. 26 at 11:30 a.m.... The
Right to Life calendar sale will be Nov. 1 and 2.
