DESCRIPTION:
Environmental Engineering Technologists assist Civil Engineers in the research, design, construction and maintenance of projects such as dwellings, roads, bridges, dams and water supply systems. They estimate costs and prepare specications for materials, inspect civil engineering works, ensuring nished works are within specications, contract terms and regulations.
SKILLs:
Ability to work as a team, communicating technical information in an organized manner Good oral and communication skills Ability to work within a timeline and deal with unexpected situations effectively
EDUCATION:
Completion of a three year college program in civil engineering technology or a closely related discipline is require for civil engineering technicians Certication in civil engineering technology or in a related led is available through provincial association may be required for some positions
OVER THE NEXT 2 DECADES 40% OF NEW JOBS WILL BE IN SKILLED TRADES AND TECHNOLOGIES
The Environmental Engineering program provides students with a general knowledge of the concepts of air, water, and waste management. The program focusus on water quality and pollution, municipal solid waste management, environmenmtal site assessment and remediation of contaminated sites and environmental impact of construction projects to provide a student with the skills needed to analyze and remediate construction sites.

GETTING STARTED
THE FOLLOWING ARE 3 SIMPLE WAYS OF GETTING STARTED IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY:
You can begin by applying for a job directly in the Civil Construction Industry. Once you begin working with a Construction Company or Contractor you will quickly gain the necessary skills needed to advance yourself through in-house, work-as-you-learn training. You can enrol in a University, Community College or a Private Technical School to study and prepare yourself for a Career in Civil Construction. All of this information may be found through our website. You can get started through an apprenticeship program by combining on the job training with technical in-class training gaining experience and increased responsibility. You can work in the industry, get paid and work towards earning credits.
