PART 1 NASOLOGY
Purpose
1.To master the anatomy feature of nasal organ and it’s clinical significance, and to understand the
nasal physiologic function and rhinology research evolution.
2.To know well the pathogenesis , the clinical situation and the therapeutic principle of allergic
rhinitis.
3.To know well the cause of epistaxis,and the relationship between epistaxis and system disease.
To know well the therapy of epistaxis.
4.To know well the clinical situation and therapy of acute , chronic rhinitis and sinusitis. To
master the characteristic of rhinogenic headache.
5.To master the clinical situation,the therapy of nasal septum diseases and the nasal polyp.
6.To understand the endoscope application in nasal cavity and nasal sinuses.
7. To understand the complications of sinusitis.
8.To understand the clinical situation , diagnosis and treatment of neoplasms of nasal cavity and
paranasal sinuses.

The teaching of theory


Anatomy and physiology of nose.
Emphasis:the construction of nose,the feature and clinical significance of veins in nasal surface.
Acute and chronic rhinitis; allergic rhinitis.
Emphasis:the aetiology, clinical features, differential diagnosis and treatments of each rhinitis.
Nasal septum and its diseases; nasal polyp.
Emphasis:the clinical features, diagnosis and treatments of devation of nasal septum and nasal
polyp.
Epistaxis; acute and chronic sinusitis.
Emphasis:the characteristic of rhinogenic headache, the application principle,merit,indication and
contraindication,process of operation,aftertreatment and complication of ESS used in nasal cavity
and sinus. The diagnosis and treatment of the complications of sinusitis.
Neoplasms of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses.
Emphases:the clinical features, diagnoses and treatments of devation of nasal septum and nasal
polyp.
6. Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS)
Emphases: the application principle, merit, indication and contraindication, process of operation,
aftertreatment and complication of ESS used in nasal cavity and sinus.

Practice
According to the anatomy feature of nose, to introduce the equipments needed in examination of
nose, the commonly used instruments and the using methods, to demonstrate the methods the
external nose and nasal cavity are examined with.
To explain the examination methods of nasal cavity, the endoscopy in nasal cavity and sinuses
and the nasal function examination.
Based on the content taught in the class,to demonstration the common diseases and frequently
encountered diseases,Such as acute and chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, nasal polyp, trauma of nose and
neoplasm of nose.

PART 2 PHARYNGOLOGY
Purpose
1.To master the anatomy and physiology of pharynx.
2.To know well the diagnosis and therapy of acute , chronic pharyngitis and tonsillitis, and to
know well the relationship between the tonsillopathy and the general immunity reaction.
3. To know well the diagnosis and therapy of abscesses in relation to pharynx.
4.To know well the diagnosis and therapy of pharyngeal tumor; Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea
syndrome(OSAHS).

Teaching contents
Anatomy and physiology of pharynx.
Emphases:the divisions of pharynx, the structure of pharynx wall, the lymphoid tissue of pharynx,
the anatomy of tonsil.
Inflammations of pharynx (acute,chronic pharyngitis and tonsillitis).
Emphases: the diagnoses of the acute suppurative tonsillitis and the relation between tonsilla and
general immunity reaction.
Abscesses in relation to pharynx (peritonsillar abscess , retropharyngeal abscess and
parapharyngeal abscess).
Emphases: the diagnoses, treatments and complications of peritonsillar abscess, retropharyngeal
abscess, parapharyngeal abscess.
Tumours of oropharynx.
Emphases: the significance of early diagnosis and treatment in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).
Emphasis: the diagnosis and therapy of OSAHS.
Practice
1.To introduce the equipments and instrument used in examining pharynx,and their using
methods, and to demonstrate pharyngealscopy.
2. Based on the content taught in the class,to demonstrate the acute and chronic pharyngitis and
tonsillitis,tumours of Oropharynx and OSAHS.

PART 3 LARYNGOLOGY
Purpose
1.To master the anatomy and physiology of larynx.
2.To understand the clinical situation and therapy of Laryngotracheal Trauma.
3.To know well the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic laryngitis, to know well the
diagnosis and therapy of acute epiglottitis and acute laryngitis in children, to know well the
diagnosis and treatment of corditis nodosa and polyp of vocal cord.
4.To understand the diagnosis and treatment of laryngeal papilloma. To know well the early
diagnosis of cancer of larynx. To understand the principle of classification of cancer of larynx and
the advancement in modern laryngosurgery.
5. To know well the diagnosis and therapy of laryngeal obstruction, to understand the indication
and operation method of endotracheal intubation and tracheotomy.

Teaching contents
Anatomy and physiology of larynx.
Emphases:the frame,muscles and division of larynx.
Laryngotracheal Trauma.
3.Inflammations of larynx ( Acute and Chronic Inflammations of Larynx).
Emphases: the clinical situation and therapy of acute epiglottitis and acute laryngitis in children.
4.Benign tumors and cancer of larynx.
Emphases: the etiopathogenisis, clinical situation and staging of cancer larynx, and the
introduction of the modern therapeutic progress of cancer larynx.
5.Laryngeal obstruction; endotracheal intubation and tracheotomy.
Emphases: the reason and staging of laryngeal obstruction, the indication and operation method of
tracheal intubation and tracheal intubation.

Practice
1.To introduce the equipments and instrument used in examining larynx,and their using methods,
and to demonstrate laryngealscopy.
2. Based on the content taught in the class ,to demonstrate the acute and chronic laryngitis, acute
laryngitis hi children, acute apiglottitic, Benign tumours and cancer of larynx. to demonstrate
tracheal intubation and tracheotomy.

PART 4 TRACHEO-OESOPHAGOLOGY
Purpose
1.To master the anatomy and physiology of trachea, bronch and esoph.
2.To understand the examination method, indication and counterindication of tracheo-
bronchoscope and esophagoscope.
3.To know well the diagnosis and treatment of the foreign bodies of air passage and food passage.

Teaching contents:
The anatomy and physiology of the trachea,bronch and esoph.
Emphases: the anatomy of pars cervicalis trachea and esoph, and the three normal construction of
esoph.
The examination with tracheo-bronchoscope and esophagoscope.
Emphases: the indication, counterindication and method of operation.
Foreign bodies of air passage and food passage.
Emphases: the diagnosis and therapy of foreign bodies of air passage and food passage.

Practice
To introduce the equipments and instrument used in examining larynx,and their using methods.
To demonstrate trachea,bronch and esoph.
Based on the content taught in the class,to demonstrate the diagnosis and therapy of foreign bodies
of air passage and food passage.

PART 5 OTOLOGY
Purpose
1.To master the anatomy and physiology of ear.
2.To understand the diagnosis and treatment of injury of auricle and injury of tympanic membrane,
to know well the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of external ear.
3.To master the category and therapeutic principle of chronic suppurative otitis media, to know
well the complications of otitis media.
4.To know well the clinical application ,diagnosis and differential diagnosis of otospongiosis and
Meniere disease.
5.To understand the audiologic clinical examination, and to know well the classification of
deafness.
6.To master the reason , diagnosis and therapeutic principle of prosopoplegia, to know well the
diagnosis and differential diagnosis of peripheral paralysis of facial nerve.
7. To understand the tumor of ear, including the cancer of the middle ear, and acoustic neuroma.

Teaching contents
The anatomy and physiology of ear.
Emphasis:the anatomy of middle ear.
Diseases of external ear and trauma of ear.
Emphases: the diagnosis and treatment of inflammations of ear canal, impacted cerumen and
foreign bodies in external auditory meatus, the diagnosis and treatment of trauma of the auricle,
tympabic membrane and temporal bone fracure.
Facial nerve and its disorders.
Emphases: causes, diagnosis and treatment of facial paralysis, the differential diagnosis peripheral
facial paralysis and central facial paralysis.
Otosclerosis and Meniere’s disease.
Emphases: the clinical situation, the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of otosclerosis and
Meniere’s disease.
Hearing loss and prevention and cure.
Emphases: the classification, degree and therapeutic principle of hearing loss.
Tumors of the ear.
Emphases: the diagnosis and treatment of acoustic neurilemoma and carcinoma of middle ear and
mastoid.

Practice
To demonstrate the method to check the ear, including the examination of extanal ear,tympanic
membrane and eustachian tube,and to demonstrate the uses of the commonly used equipments in
ear.
Based on the content taught in the class, to demonstrate the otitis externa, secretory otitis media
and chronic suppurative otitis media.
3. To demonstrate the common methods of hearing examination and vestibular
function examination, to explain the result and clinical significance of brainstem electric response
audiometry (BERA) according to the patient’s situation, and to explain
CT-film of temporal bone.

PART 6 CERVICAL PART


Purpose
1.To master the clinical anatomy of cervical part.
2.To know well the diagnosis and treatment of thyroglossal cyst and fistula, to understand the
diagnosis and treatment of branchial cyst and fistula, to understand the diagnosis and therapy of
acute, chronic lymphadenitis and crewels of neck, and to understand the diagnosis and therapy of
carotid body tumor.
3.To master the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment of trachelophyma, to understand the
zonation of cervical gland and the classification and step of neck dissection.

Teaching contents
The anatomy of cervical organ.
Emphases: the division and trigone of cervical part, the muscles of cervical part, the cervical
glands, throid gland and parathyroid gland.
2.Diseases of cervical organ (thyroglossal cyst and fistula, branchial cyst and fistula, tuberculous
lymphadenitis, carotid body tumor).
Emphases: the diagnosis and treatment of thyroglossal cyst and fistula, branchial cyst and fistula,
acute, chronic lymphadenitis and crewels of neck and carotid body tumor.
Trachelophyma and radical neck dissection (RND).
Emphases: the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment of trachelophyma, the division of
cervical gland, and the classification and step of neck dissection.

Practice
According to the anatomy feature of cervical part, to introduce the equipments needed in
