Chapter 1 Anatomy of maxillofacial sturctures


The teaching of theory 6 periods
1. Emphasis:
(1) master the morphology of the structures in oral cavity
(2) Know well the anatomic structures of jaws
(3) Understand the sequence of tooth eruption
(4) Understand the occlusion of dentition .
2. Contents:
The morphology of teeth, periodontium, tongue, and the anatomic structures of jaws. Describe the
nerve supply, arterial supply and venous drainage of upper and lower jaws.

Chapter 4 Caries, pulpitis and periapical periodontitis

1. Emphasis:
(1) Master the diagnosis and treatment of acute pulpitis and periapical periodontitis.
(2) Know well the etiology and pathology of caries, pulpitis, and periapical periodontitis.
(3)Understand the treatments of incipient caries, reversible pulpitis.
2. Contents:
Describe and explain the etiology, pathophysiology, classification, clinical features and
management of the caries, pulpitis and periapical periodontitis

Chapter 5 Injuries of teeth, mandible, and maxilla

The etiology, pathology, history, the clinical feature, clinical examination, treatment considerations
of gingivitis, periodontitis and pericoronitis.

2. Contents:
Cysts in oral soft tissues; Cysts in jaws; epulis, ameloblastoma, neurofibroma, carcinoma of
tongue, carcinoma of gingival, carcinoma of buccal mucosa, carcinoma of the plate, carcinoma of
the floor of mouth, carcinoma of maxillary sinus.

Chapter 12 Diseases of salivary glands

(1) Master the clinical features, and treatment considerations of Sialadenitis, Sjogren syndrome,
mucocele, and tumors.
(2) Know well the etiology and pathology of diseases of salivary glands
2. Contents:
Acute pyogenic parotitis; chronic recurrent parotitis; chronic obstructive parotitis; sialolithiasis;
Sjogren syndrome; mucocele.

mucocele, and tumors.
(2) Know well the etiology and pathology of diseases of salivary glands

Observe under the microscope the pathological slides of diseases of salivary glands.

Chapter 13 Diseases of tempro-mandibular joint (TMJ) and dislocation of TMJ


The teaching of theory
1. Emphasis:
(1) Master the anatomy of tempro-mandibular joint
(2) Master the clinical features of tempro-mandibular disorders, and dislocation of the TMJ.
(3) Master the management of dislocation of the TMJ
(4) Understand the clinical features and treatment considerations of osteoarthrosis, ankylosis of
the TMJ.
2. Contents:
anatomy of tempro-mandibular joint; masticatory muscle disorders, internal derangement,
inflammatory disorders, and dislocation of the TMJ; osteoarthrosis, ankylosis of the TMJ.

Chapter 15 Clinical Pedodontics

(4) Know well the facial development and tooth eruption;
(5) Know well the oral habits in children
(6) Understand the pulp treatment of primary teeth.

Children management in the dental office; morphology of the primary teeth; Diagnosis and
treatment planning for the child patients; Roentgenography; pulp treatment of primary teeth; Face
development and tooth eruption; preventive orthodontics; oral habit in children; dental caries.
