FAMILY LAW ISSUES


Course Description
This training, led by an experienced attorney and a judge, will provide in-depth knowledge of the legal procedures involved in a Missouri family law case including divorce, paternity, and legal guardianship and Orders of Protection. It will address family law trial procedures, the do's and don'ts of being a witness and how not to upset the judge. This training benefits all staff working with families. Presenters
Marie Kenyon serves as the Managing Attorney for Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry (CLAM), where she has worked for the past 24 years. Marie was a volunteer for the Peace Corps from 1981 to 1983. She earned her J.D. degree from the St. Louis University School of Law in 1986. Ms. Kenyon has co-authored a number of publications and is the co-founder of Mothers and Children Together, a group that advocates on behalf of incarcerated mothers and their children. She served as President for the St. Louis Bar Foundation and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and was a member of the Missouri Catholic Conference from 1991-1994. She is currently a member of the Board of Governors for the Missouri Bar and a member of the Board of Directors for Access Academies, Penultimate Press, and Prison Performing Arts. Judge Thomas J. Frawley has served as a circuit judge in the 22nd Judicial Circuit for 18 years, seventeen of which have been in Family Court. He served as Administrative Judge of the Family Court between 1998 and 2008. He has a B.A. degree from Hamilton College in New York and earned his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Law in 1972. Judge

Judge Frawley served as Chair of the Family Court Committee of the Missouri Supreme Court and served a 3-year term on the Coordinating Board for Early Childhood. He currently serves on the National Advisory Board of the National Quality Improvement Center on Differential Response in Child Protective Services, which is a 5-year project through the American Humane Association and funded by the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children, Youth, and Families.
