Introduction of the Topic

Health & safety polices are not available in most of the garments manufacturers & exporters in Readymade Garments Industry of Bangladesh. As a requirement of Human Resource Management course, this project is prepared on Health & Safety issues in present Garments Industry of Bangladesh. Because if Health & Safety policies cannot be established properly, in near future garments sector of Bangladesh will face very tough competition for ensuring its competitive survival in the world market. The objective of this issuance is to protect every workingman against the dangers of injury, sickness or death through safe and healthful working conditions, thereby assuring the conservation of valuable manpower resources and the prevention of loss or damage to lives and properties, consistent with national development goals and with the States commitment for the total development of every worker as a complete human being. These Standards shall apply to all places of employment except as otherwise provided in this Standard. "Health" shall connote a sound state of the body and mind of the worker, which enables him to perform his job normally, in a state of well-being. "Safe or Safety" shall refer to the physical or environmental conditions of work or employment, which substantially comply with the provisions of these Standards.

Statement of the Problem

This section provides an overview of workplace Health and Safety issues. Topics covered include preparing Safety Statements and conducting risk assessments, as well as an overview of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005.

Rational of the Study

Health & safety issues are concerned with the evaluation of the human workforce and the design of the working environment to obtain maximum satisfaction in productivity, and workers" health, safety and well being. OHS may include various local components (Ahasan 2002b), including work-related data and be expanded to cover the prevention and control of WRPs. OHS application focuses on the ways in which the workers should be protected from various

exposures in their workplace. Health, safety application can be treated as the form of a three dimensional (3-D) model for improved working life (through job satisfaction) that also includes workers physical, social and mental elements affecting industrial productivity, national economy and social development

Objectives of the Report

1.) Present necessity of Health & Safety policies in work place & invented implementation in developed countries 2.) Analyze the present the Health & Safety situation in workplace of Garments industry comparing to other part of the world 3.) Present guidelines for building proper Health & Safety plan for present garments manufactures & exporters.

Scope of the Report

This report will be very fruitful for any ready garments manufacturer for ensuring proper Health & Safe environment within his organization by establishing a proper Health & Safety plan. Not only that this report will provide formal guidelines lines for building the HS Policy. On the other hand it will help the manufactures to understand the necessity of the policy because example of developed countries & few goon manufactures are mentioned here. From the past unexpected

incidents the garments manufactures can discover that what kind of loss in the previous various garments organizations occurred because of lack of Health & Safety policy. The connection of Health & Safety in the organization with Human Resource Department.

The following methodology has been followed to come to a successful conclusion. To successfully finish the project certain methodology has been followed. Analytical Review A critical analysis of the data has been made through the bar and line graph over the last few years. This will enable me to visualize the trend of the variable of interest over time. Indicators of Garments Health & Safety issues have also been computed thorough ratio analysis.


Because of limitation of time this report is prepared based on the collected secondary data from various electronic journals of office and websites. More recent news & reasons can be presented if data are collected after building a primary questionnaire for conducting a survey among garments workers of Bangladesh who are now working in very unhealthy & risky environment. This health & safety issues are now very important topic in everywhere in the world. But in Bangladesh it is not very well known issue. For this reason I cannot get sufficient information about Health & Safety of AJ GROUP.

Visionary Recommendations

As far as possible, to have any risks to your health and safety properly controlled. To be provided, free of charge, with any personal protective and safety equipment. If you have reasonable concerns about your safety, to stop work and leave your work area, without being disciplined. To tell your employer about any health and safety concerns you have. To get in touch with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or your local authority if your employer won't listen to your concerns, without being disciplined. To have rest breaks during the working day, to have time off from work during the working week, and to have annual paid holiday.

Lastly I want to say that AJ groups Health & safety issue is working better than comparing any other companies. As like the others, they have problems, benefits those I faced when working there. I try completing the report with the correct information about Health & Safety issue in AJ group.
