REGULATION

Organization / Objectives
1. The Global Kids – International Film Festival – is organized by Global Kids Associação Cultural; the official program
includes movies in and outside the competition.
2. The Global Kids Festival aims to promote and encourage the production and exhibition of movies dedicated to the
infant-juvenile universe and themes. Special attention is given to work with strong artistic and educational qualities,
promote the values of dignity of the human being and incite intercultural communication. The Global Kids Festival
offers to stimulate the diffusion and sensitization towards the audio-visual and multimedia.
3. The International competition it will take place in October 22 - 27, 2007 in Lisbon

All entries must be submitted in the official application form of the Festival and sent to

Deadline
4. All entries must be submitted no later than August 10th 2007 along with the documentation determined by this
regulation

Eligibility
5. Applications for international competition are admitted, for the following categories:
Cinema: Fiction and animation short and feature films and documentaries;
Television: Television movies, mini-series and documentaries; Video;
Multimedia: films (Animation/Fiction) for the Internet;
First works: Young directors’ end course projects.

6. Will be taken into account for the competition:


Work produced after January 1st, 2004
Work not commercially exhibited in Portugal
Work not shown in another Film Festival in Portugal
All feature films must not exceed 90 minutes
All short movies must not exceed 30 minutes

Selecction
7. Both the application form and the copy for selection must arrive at the Festival in the stipulated deadlines.
8. For selection proposes, not only the conventional formats are accepted, but also VHS and DVD.
9. All work must be presented in its original language.

Selected Work
10. The applicants selected will be notified by the Festival to send their films’ final copies.
11. All selected work will be seen in its original version, which is considered to be the version exibithed or to be exibithed
in its country of origin. If it is a co-production envolving multiple countries, the decision will be made by the Festival
Manager, after hearing the official jury.

12. All films in foreign language will be translated and subtitled into Portuguese and Portuguese films will be translated
and subtitled into English, at the Festival's expense.
13. The films’ final copies must be sent in the following formats:: 16mm, 35mm, Betacam Digital, Betacam SP and DVD
(PAL or NTSC, Region Free); For multimedia formats, the hyperlink for download or the CD-Rom will suffice.
14. All participants grants to Global Kids – Associação Cultural, the right to use the films in the online competition, in all
the marketing for the Festival, press showcases and special exhibitions, to take place at schools and/or associations
in Portugal.
15. Postage and all due customs taxes are of the responsibility of the producers or the responsible entity.
16. A Global Kids, Associação Cultural garantees civil responsibility insurance for all films, while they are in its
possession.
17. Only film and Betacam formats will be returned.

Documentation
18. The Festival should receive detailed documentation for each selected film, namely: a plot outline, artistic and
technical credits, director’s and lead actors' biography and filmography, a scene photo gallery, a photo of the director
and a complete quote list.
19. Work done for School/ College or Professional Courses must be accompanied by a written consent by the teaching
institution.

Jury
20. The official Festival Jury will be made up with youngsters from various countries, who, during the week of the event’s
duration, will participate in an online workshop, during which they will watch and vote on the films, basing themselves
on the evaluation manual, supplied by the Festival.
21. The official Adult Jury will watch the films in auditorium and it will be made up by a vast group of distinct professionals
from the film and audio-visual industries, (film distributors, programmers, producers, among others) as by the
specialized media, parents and tutors.
22. The decisions of the jury cannot be appealed.

24. - Festival winners of 2007 competition will receive trophies and the rest of the competitor’s will receive certificates.
