NRCM at a glance
National Research Centre for Mushroom, Chambaghat, Solan was established in 1983
under the aegis of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The
Centre was established to conduct mission oriented and innovative research on all aspects
of mushrooms and to act as Centre of academic excellence and repository of mushroom
germplasm and information. It also coordinates network research on location specific
problems of National importance to achieve higher production/ productivity. It also promotes
human resource development and provides technical support to the mushroom industry, as
well as rural masses for poverty alleviation.

Important services provided by NRCM

Cultures & spawn of edible cultivated mushrooms.

Training to entrepreneurs, farmers/farm women, subject matter specialists,

International trainees and individualized training.

Consultancy on commercial project formulation, evaluation and execution.

Advice on various aspects of mushrooms.

Extension literature/video films/slides/photographs on cultivation technologies of

mushrooms.

Testing of compost, casing materials & composting ingredients.

Identification of mushroom insect pests & diseases.

Project work for PG students.

Contract research on specific topics of commercial importance.

Library Services
The NRCM library was established in 1983 and has made rapid strides. It has today a
large number of accessions including 1080 books, 2500 back volumes of journals. It
subscribes 8 foreign journals and 32 Indian journals. NRCM library provides the following
