I. INTRODUCTION

Nowadays the use of biogas as a source of fuel is being implemented by our local governments especially on those who have piggeries, poultries, and to the rural areas that can provide a biogas system. Through the biological breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen the biogas is produced. Organic waste such as dead plant, animal, and kitchen waste can be converted into a gaseous fuel called biogas.

The energy release by the gases methane, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide (CO) through combustion allows biogas to be used as a fuel for any heating purposes such as cooking. As an alternative to the fuel or gas that is constantly changing its price, biogas can lessen the expenses regarding this matter. A biogas system that can supply the community with this substitute is constructed to monitor its production and also with the other purposes such as detecting earthquakes, source of fertilizer, and water treatment.

This biogas system can detect earthquake using the sudden release of energy in the Earths crust that creates seismic waves. The movement of the biogas molecules inside the tank will give signal to the device that will warn the users that there will be an incoming earthquake. Wi-MP BED is an innovation that promotes the use of biogas as a substitute to high priced fuel and gives awareness and safety for the community regarding earthquakes.

II. System Description

Problem Statement

An earthquake is a shaking of the ground caused by the sudden breaking and movement of large sections (tectonic plates) of the earth's rocky outermost crust. The edges of the tectonic plates are marked by faults (or fractures). Most earthquakes occur along the fault lines when the plates slide past each other or collide against each other.

A biogas system is a technology that produces biogas. Biogas is a type of renewable energy formed by the anaerobic digestion of organic matter. Anaerobic digestion refers to bacteria-aided decomposition that occurs in an oxygen-free environment. The fuel may be used for heating or, in its concentrated form, for vehicle propulsion. A biogas system provides an airtight environment for the anaerobic digestion to occur and is usually composed of a digester and a gas holder. This system is place particularly underground that can detect different reactions. Before an earthquake hits the ground thermal reaction occurs. The gas molecules in the Wi-MP BED move faster as a result of this reaction. The earthquake detecting device in this system will give signal to alarm the registered users of the biogas through these sudden changes. An earthquake can damage a lot of properties in just a few minutes and the proponents of this design project found out that an innovation is needed to solve this problem. Developing a biogas system that involves an integration of

wireless communications to give an advanced warning to the users a better chance of getting to safety is conducted.
Some of that technology is being used to help Californians stay one step ahead of disaster. A company called "Seismic Warning" is developing what it says is the first regional earthquake early warning network. The "Net Quake Guard" uses sophisticated sensors to detect the first waves of an earthquake. It then sends out a signal to a network of devices. They in turn send out an alert that an earthquake is coming as much as 30 seconds before damaging seismic waves hit. Developers say such advanced warning gives everyone a better chance of getting to safety. "It can stop surgery centers in operation mode, " said George Dixon with Seismic Technologies. "It can communicate to water systems, re-route water or gas mains, utilities, so it's basically creating a network that's a disaster utility."s The regional system is being tested first in the Palm Springs area. The company hopes to expand it statewide within five years.

Objectives of the Study The general objective of this study is to design and develop a Biogas System that can detect Earthquake which uses the integration of communication technologies including global system for mobile communication (GSM). This study is then entitled Wi-MPBED (Wireless Multi-Purpose Biogas Earthquake Detector). In details, the following specific objectives would be the guidelines of the researchers in achieving their primary objective:

1. To establish a biogas system that will provide biogas to the consumers through SMS 2. To develop other purposes such as water treatment and a source of fertilizer

3. To warn the community about the coming earthquake before it hits.

Target market a. Members of the community b. Farms implementing Biogas system c. Rural areas

Service Description

Wi-MPBED is an SMS-based Multi-Purpose Biogas monitoring and earthquake detector system that helps community to monitor the production of biogas in their households and to be warned by the incoming earthquake. This project serves as a monitoring system to the biogas plant, through SMS, the system will provide a biogas to the consumer. It also serves as an earthquake detector. The structure of the biogas plant is design radically with its base covered with metal casing that will immediately react to the sudden release of energy of the earths crust. The change of the temperature together with the movement of the container will caused the biogas molecules to move faster. This scenario will enable the Wi-MP BED alarm to warn the registered users that there is an earthquake detected. This detecting device uses sophisticated sensors to detect the first waves of an earthquake. It then sends out signals to a network of devices. They in turn send out an alert that an earthquake is coming before damaging seismic wave hits. Technical Description-System Requirements 1. Technical Specifications

Scope of Work and Delimitations The study is focused on the design and development of a biogas monitoring system and biogas earthquake detector using wireless technologies. The basic aim of this project is to monitor the biogas system and detect an earthquake through biogas. Only at the rural areas can Wi-MPBED be placed. Though the biogas system is planted in the particular area, only those who are registered can have the entire benefits of the design.

Each hydroponic plant boxes will be implanted by liquid level indicators, as well as the reserve liquid tank. The number and type of components to be used will depend on the proponents. Also the design of this study is delimited to use SMART as the network provider for the testing of the system functionality.
