1. Title : To increase the understanding of students form Two Perdana on Algebraic Expressions through Table Method 2. Researcher : En.

Ahmad Faizal bin Muhamad Zabari 3. Research Background: SMK Dato Bendahara CM Yusuf is located at Tanjong Tualang, Perak. It is located about 50 km from Ipoh town. Mostly, the background of students family came from the middle class. Their parents work as government servants, labors, and do their own job to support their on live. The students at this school consist of several races. It is combination of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Singh and Orang Asli. Mathematics is a compulsory subject that students have to take. Hence, to make the mathematics easier to learn the action research is carried out. Form Two Perdana will become a sample experiment to test the effectiveness method of teaching and learning. There are 38 students in form Two Perdana, which are 18 boys and 20 girls in this class. A good achievement in this subject after SPM and STPM will brings a better future. At the same can ensure the bright opportunity to student to continue a further study at university. 4. Reflection of Previous Teaching and Learning: The researcher has four years experienced taught this subject. Nevertheless, for the researcher this is a great challenge need to overcome since the researcher was transferred to this school lately about two months. With the experienced and knowledge the researcher believes he can manage efficiently. Therefore, the research will carried out and more focus to subtopic to do the evaluation.

5. Problem Statement: The researcher found that during teaching and learning the students form Two Perdana are difficult to understand the problem solving as stated in the text book. Therefore to overcome this problem, the initiative has taken by researcher to introduce the alternative method to be conducted during teaching and learning. As a result, the researcher hopes with the new alternative method there are increasing achievement among the students. 6. Research Aim: To increase the achievement of student in mathematics. 7. Research Objectives : 7.1 To identify the difficulties of students when answer the questions. 7.2 To identify the method use in teaching and learning which can increase the level of understanding of students. 8. Research Target: This group of research consist of 38 students form Two Perdana year 2008, which are come from SMK Dato Bendahara CM Yusuf, Tanjung Tualang, Perak. 9. Limitation of Research : 9.1 The research is facilitate to the ability of students understanding on Algebraic Expressions only. 9.2 The Table Method is use for teaching and learning. 9.3 This research only limited to students form Two Perdana year 2008, at SMK Dato Bendahara CM Yusuf.

10. Researh Method : The research is carried out with suggested methods for action research by Development and Research Division, Ministry of Education. The methods suggested are planning, conducting, observing and reflecting. 10.1Planning 10.1.1 Indentify problems through; - Discussion of action research committee - Interview with the student - Pre-Skill Test 10.1.2 Interpreting and summarization The collecting data through interview and pre test would be analyzed. Then the result is used to determine the action taken to overcome the problem 10.1.3 Action Planning The chosen activity will be conducted during teaching and learning session. The tools and learning methods are provided. This activity will be carried out base on the time provide during classes. 10.2Assessment The researcher will perform the activities chosen for teaching and learning. Those activities are: 10.2.1 Conducting pre-test to measure the achievement of students after teaching And learning.

10.3Observation Observation will be made on the change of behaviour of students during teaching and learning. The Table Method is use. The feedback from the student will be recorded to determine their weaknesses. At the same time, researcher can determine the level of understanding of the students according the topic given. 10.4Reflection To ensure the effectiveness of the action research, each activity would be reflected after the activities are completed. Overall overview is made after the evaluation of students achievement is finished. 11.
