23rd September, 2011 Sir/Madam, The Centre for Urdu Language, Literature and Culture, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, in collaboration with Muslim Educational Social and Cultural Organization (MESCO) and Institute of Objective Studies (IOS), New Delhi, is organizing a three day International Seminar on Islamic Culture and Art, from 25th to 27th November, 2011, at Hyderabad. The Centre for Urdu Language, Literature and Culture is committed to promote awareness about the role of Urdu Language and Literature and Islamic cultural values in developing a composite culture to live in peace with other cultures. MESCO is engaged in similar work while spreading education and social and cultural awareness among Muslims in India and abroad. The relentless efforts of MESCO over past 30 years, resulted in establishment of 30 Projects in various parts of the country and many other such initiatives abroad. Institute of Objective Studies is well known for high lighting the socioeconomic and political issues of the marginalized sections among minorities in general and Muslims in particular. The idea of the seminar came up as part of celebrating the silver Jubilee of IOS, as it is conducting such programmes throughout the country to signify the contribution made by Islam globally and in India in particular. The seminar will highlight different facets of Islamic culture in India and abroad covering Literature, Music, Architecture, Art, Sufi movements etc. It gives us great pleasure, to extend an invitation to you to participate, or send a representative from your esteemed organization to make a presentation on any of the themes mentioned in the enclosed brochure.
