Volunteer at the Animal Shelter

A.  Read the article below that appeared in last week’s newspaper.

Hundreds of pets are found each week roaming the streets, looking for food and love. 
Some of them ran away from home.  Some of them got lost.  Many of them were left.  Still others 
were born out on the streets and have never had a home.  Each day we pick up so many dogs and 
cats and bring them back to our shelter to help them get healthy again. And our ultimate goal 
here at Grady’s Animal Shelter is to find each and every one of them a loving home.  But in the 
meantime, we need your help.
Have you ever wanted to give back to your community?  Do you have a few hours a week 
to spare that you’d like to do something worthwhile with, something that will make you feel good 
about yourself?  We need you!  Here at Grady’s we strive to give every pet as much love as we 
can by spending time with each and every one of them for at least a few hours a day. How can 
you help?
Maybe you like to exercise and would like to take our dogs for a run or walk.  Perhaps you 
would like to play with the dogs by taking them to the park and throwing a ball or Frisbee. 
Maybe you’d like to help us feed the pets and clean their cages.  Maybe you would like to sit and 
pet the cats or snuggle with the puppies.  Whatever you do best, we’ll find something for you to 
do here at Grady’s.  We guarantee you’ll feel good every time you’re here.  And maybe you’ll 
even find a new friend to adopt!
Make it a family project!  Children are great caregivers to animals and with your 
supervision, your kids can get a lot out of volunteering.  Teach them what it means to give back, 
and spend some family time while you’re at it!
