Please note that you do not need to solve all of problems, as indicated in the table below, if it
is mentioned selective, you may select representative problems and try to solve them. You
should be very conservative about your time. Read the problem. Think. If you have no doubt
about how to solve it, go to the next problem, otherwise solve it. I have published my
suggested solutions to some of the problems. Its sole purpose is to guide you through
necessary steps needed in solving mathematics problems. My solutions are just suggested
ones, i.e. there may be other methods to solve the given problem.
WARNING: It is of the greatest importance that you first solve (or try to solve) the given
problem yourself and then compare your solutions to those of mine. Just reading my
solutions may not help you to solve a similar problem yourself.
Page 54 of MaA&B 4000 is a guide for problem solving: Read and understand the
problem! Think! Make a plan! Carry out your plan! Control and analyse your results. These
steps are of the greatest importance in solving any problem. Read the page 54 and think about
it a few times during the course.
Mathematics must be studied and exercised continuously. Solve the recommended homework
problems the day they are assigned. Do not postpone their solutions to a few days before the
test. Doing so creates unnecessary stress on your part, and prevents you of learning
mathematics in properly.
