Discourses 251 – 300

251. Lord preaches according to the level of people

Do not bother that you are unable to practice the highest truth today itself. At least accept
the truth in theory. That first step is sufficient. One day or other, either in this life, or in
some future life (human life is assured for any one who tries constantly) you will
succeed. If you accept theoretically, you have put your foot on the first step of right path.
Journey and achievement of goal are inevitable. It is only a matter of time. But if you
deny the truth even theoretically, you are in the wrong path. You want immediate fruit
and so you want to lower the goal. You want to sleep at 8 PM and want to become I. A. S.
officer.

You want 40 marks as pass! You think that you can get the 40 marks and pass. But My
dear friend! If you keep 40 marks as goal, you will get five or ten marks only! Actually
100 is distinction and 40 is a pass mark. But we have kept it as secret and say 100 marks
is the pass, so that you will achieve 40 certainly while trying for 100. This is called as
“Arthavada” (which means a statement created for a purpose) in the Veda. It means a
spiritual secret like the business secret.

When you get five marks only and feel discouraged by seeing at 100 mark goal, then, in
your case, to encourage you, we shall say that 40 marks is the pass-goal. Therefore,
Acharyas know to close and open the secrecy of truth according to the condition of the
student. In some context truth has to be opened and in some other context, truth has to be
covered. This brought the difference in the preaching of the human incarnations, which
was based on the difference in the stages of different people, they faced in their times. If
you realize this practical problem you can easily realize that there is only one God in all
the divine human incarnations.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

252. God can enter two human bodies at a time

When God becomes the human incarnation, He enters into a human body as said in the
Gita (Manusheem Tanumasritam). The word asritam means the entrance of God into the
human body. Another verse in the Gita clearly states that God is not modified into the
human body which means that God has not become the human body (Avyaktam vyakti
mapannam). The current entered the wire but the current is not modified into the wire.
The current has not become the wire. If God became the human body, God should also
perish when the human body perishes. When the divine work is over, God exits the
human body. When the Lord left the body of Krishna, it was cremated by Arjuna as said
in Bhagavatam. Therefore, you should not think that a particular human being is God.
God has not become that human being. God only entered that human being. God can
enter any human being provided the human being is eligible for His entrance and is
suitable to His work. God can enter two human bodies at a time for two different works.
The fan is moving and at the same time the electric bulb is glowing simultaneously. The
same current has entered the fan to give air and entered the bulb to give light
simultaneously. God entered Rama and Hanuman simultaneously. Through Rama God
wanted to show the path of ideal human being (Pravrutti) and through Hanuman God
wanted to show the path of practical devotion (Nivrutti). The first criterion for His
entrance is eligibility which can be achieved through practical devotion. The proof of
love is only service as said in the Veda (Sayuja Sakhaya, Kurvanneveha). The second
criterion is the suitable efficiency for the specified divine work. The fan is suitable to
give the air but is not suitable to give the light. The bulb is suitable to give the light but
not the air. Between these two, eligibility is more important than suitability. If you want
to select a person for a job in your office, you must give importance to eligibility first and
then only to suitability.

If the candidate has good character without corruption, he is eligible to your service. The
talent required for your service can be developed in him by giving a short training. Even
if the candidate is suitable with already acquired talent, he should not be selected if he is
corrupt. He is suitable but not eligible. Therefore, God selects the human body of a
devotee which is eligible by practical devotion. In such case even if the talent is absent,
God will grant the talent in a moment by His grace. Therefore, to reach the divine
knowledge God selects a particular eligible human being. Such selected human being
becomes a scholar in no time by His grace.

Even though several scholars exist who are suitable for His divine work, He will not
select them because such corrupt scholars are not eligible. Jesus selected the eligible
fishermen to propagate the knowledge but not the corrupt priests who were suitable to the
work. Any country develops by selecting eligible candidates and by giving them suitable
training for the profession. Therefore, the education must give eligibility and the specific
department should give required training. Eligibility comes only by spiritual knowledge.
Today the education is giving suitability only from the beginning and forgets imparting
the eligibility at any stage. This mistake in the education is responsible for the fall of
India. The fruits of programmes of the Government are not reaching the needy people due
to corrupt officials, who are selected by the only criterion of suitability that is imparted
from their childhood.

253. A devotee can become God, but...

In the first level of ignorance, the soul derives happiness only from happy situations
which are like sweets. In the second level of realization, the soul derives happiness both
from happy and unhappy situations, which are like sweets and hots in the meals. In the
final level of the state of God, if the soul derives continuous happiness from hots only,
such a soul has become almost God (Mama Sadharmyamagatah – Gita). Such a soul is
almost equal to God. Such a devotee also attracts the sins of deserving devotees and
makes them happy. Such an attraction of sins is always a secret because the deserving
devotee will never agree to such transfer of sins.
A devotee who had reached this highest level came to see Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa,
who was suffering with cancer. The devotee sat near Sri Paramahamsa and was trying to
attract the cancer onto him. Sri Paramahamsa, who was the human incarnation
immediately recognized this and pushed the devotee away from Him. Therefore, the
devotee can attain all the powers of God and the divine nature of God, which consists of
continuous sacrifice for the sake of devotees. Then, why not the devotee, be called as
God in full sense? Except one point, the devotee can become God in all aspects and that
one point is the creation, maintenance and destruction of this universe.

You are immediately misunderstanding God through various doubts. Perhaps God does
not want anyone to become equal to Him and therefore, is not granting this special power.
You are mistaking God due to the ignorance of truth and lack of analysis on this point.
God is ready to give this power to any soul. The creation, maintenance and destruction of
the world is a big responsibility. Who will not sacrifice the responsibility? One may
hesitate to sacrifice the fruit of work but not the responsibility and work. The work and
responsibility are headache only. If you analyze, you will clearly understand that it is
impossible to transfer this responsibility to any soul. The soul is made of awareness,
which is basically the primal energy. The creation starts with the creation of this primary
energy (Mula Maya). Before the creation of this primary energy, this primary energy
cannot exist. When the primary energy does not exist, the soul (awareness) which is a
form of this primary energy also cannot exist. Then, how can the soul create this primary
energy?

If the soul created this primary energy, then what is the material of the soul? The material
cannot be awareness because awareness is a modification of the primary energy only. If
the food is not given to a person, the supply of energy stops. The person becomes
unconscious, where the awareness disappears as in the deep sleep. The stored energy in
the body in its basic form of inert energy maintains the heat of the body for sometime.
This is a clear proof of the concept that awareness is a modification of the inert energy
only. Therefore, it is impossible to make any soul creator and therefore this point always
differentiates God from any soul. Due to such impossibility only, God is not giving this
power to any soul. Even if there is a trace of possibility, God is the happiest to get rid of
this headache and responsibility.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

254. Type of Devotion-God undergoes the misery of His devotees

Devotion is of two types. The first type is called as Bhakti, which consists of prayers or
songs through words and emotional feelings through mind. This Bhakti gives temporary
happiness only. Knowledge is related to intelligence, which is the discrimination of real
and unreal through logical analysis. By such discrimination, you can realize that all the
forms of matter and all the feelings of awareness are unreal. When you have realized that
all the forms (Rupa) and all the feelings (Guna) are unreal even before the level of
yourself, which is pure awareness, your life becomes completely an entertainment in both
happy and unhappy situations. The self realization makes you a spectator of the cinema
which consists of both happy and unhappy scenes. You will reach the state of an actor
who is entertained in all the scenes of the drama on the stage. Thus the knowledge gives
you permanent happiness which is called as bliss. Therefore, knowledge (Jnana) is
greater than devotion (Bhakti). Here, you must note that the Bhakti is related to words
and mind, whereas Jnana is related to intelligence. Hence, both devotion and knowledge
belong to theoretical phase only which is limited to words, mind and intelligence.

The second type of devotion is called as Para-Bhakti, which is related to practice or

sacrifice of service. This divine devotion (Para-Bhakti) consists of divine service by
sacrificing work (Karma Sanyasa) and by sacrificing the fruit of work (Karma Phala
Tyaga). This second type of devotion is far superior than the knowledge. The Bhakti and
Jnana are selfish because in both your aim is the attainment of bliss by yourself. The
divine devotion or the divine service is completely different, which has no selfish aim. In
this divine service, your aim is to please God and not to please yourself. You have to
receive the continuous loss and displeasure in the divine service. In this stage you are
achieving the nature of God. God always enjoys the fruits of the sins of His devotees and
is thus subjected to continuous misery. His aim is to make His devotees happy. God is
serving His devotees. Service is always sacrifice to make others happy at the cost of self
-happiness. The Veda says that God is bliss (Anando Brahma). The Veda reveals the
meaning of this statement by further saying “Eshahyeva Anandayati” which means that
God makes His devotees happy. Therefore, when we say that God is bliss, that does not
mean God is continuously enjoying the happiness. It means only that God is making
others happy continuously. In fact such a definition only, is the proof of God being bliss.
How do you say that the fire is hot? Since the fire is making others experience its heat,
people say that fire is hot. Similarly, if you make others happy, then only you are the
embodiment of that happiness. Now the point is whether God is continuously unhappy by
such sacrifice, which is His service to His devotees. The answer is that God is
continuously happy through such sacrifice. He is deriving happiness continuously by
enjoying the misery of His devotees. He is not unhappy to enjoy the sins of His devotees.
Therefore, He is happy always and making His devotees also happy.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

255. Suicide!!!

This human life is very rare. Next human birth is still rare. The ignorance of real aim of
the life leads to thoughts of suicide due to tensions created in this unreal drama. Will any
body kill himself or herself really on the stage while acting a drama? Is he or she not a
fool? Is he or she not mad? Suppose a student is defeated in cricket game and commits
suicide. Is he or she not mad? Suppose a student is defeated in cricket game and commits
suicide. Is he not a fool? The game itself is a side activity meant for a change. This
worldly life is just a side activity and one should not get even tension in this worldly life,
not to speak of suicide!
Lord is substratum of the whole creation and hence forms base. Without Him creation
cannot sustain. Lord created the universe for entertainment. He has given free will to all
the human beings to do whatever they like. But, the results will follow the deeds. So, He
is indirectly controlling, that is to say that enjoyment for good deeds and misery for bad
deeds. Misery is to bring realization only and not to repeat the same bad deed. Otherwise,
He is not responsible for one's deeds.

Creation is in Lord but Lord is not the creation. But such a Lord can enter creation at the
request of devotees who wants Him only and His service. He comes down to give four
fortunes to His devotees (to talk, to touch, co-living and to serve).

We have no right to take our own life. This human life is very precious, and in the next
life, human birth is not guaranteed. Lord has given us this human life for a very important
thing, it is to realize Him, by serving Him in His mission of divine knowledge
propagation. All other activities in this world are only a side activity in this respect. We
should not get entangled in the side activity. It is like enjoying a game, while keeping our
eye on the main aim. Main aim is to please Lord, through selfless service.

But, unfortunately people have mis understood the side activity as the main activity and
are entangled in those, with out even having time to think about God. Remember that in
this temporary world all our family relations are temporary only. One day or the other
these relations will vanish.

One should be very cautious not to over indulge in these family bonds. Only thing is that,
one should do his responsibility to them without any mental attachment and should divert
most of his time in meeting the main aim of life which is pleasing the Lord.

Lord comes in every human generation in human form for uplifting the souls of this
world. He is known as human incarnation. This is the only way to please Lord. The
unimaginable Lord has taken human form and move in this generation for the
propagation of divine knowledge. Pleasing Him is by participating in the mission.

He gives divine knowledge without any partiality to every body alike. Shall we use this
golden opportunity to directly involve in His service? Why should one loose his precious
life which is very very rare to obtain, by silly suicide? Is it not the high time that we
should reduce our side activity and channelize it towards God?

I once again tell you to realize the main aim of this human life and forget the insult in the
side activity. For a student the education is the main activity and he should be upset if he
fails in the unit tests. But, he should not be worried, if he fails in a game conducted as an
extra-curricular activity in the college. All this worldly life is only a game of extra-
curricular activity only. If you fail in your efforts to achieve the grace of the Lord, you
shall get tension because the spiritual effort is the main activity and aim of this human
life. Othello killed Desidimona and ended his life also doubting her character and his
doubt was actually unreal. But I assuredly tell you that this entire worldly life made of
these unreal dramatic bonds is really unreal and even if Desdimona is wrong, if Othello is
a realized soul, he will neglect the total issue as an extra-curricular activity.

Love in free atmosphere alone is worthy and in a compelled atmosphere the hypocritic
love is useless. Before matter, energy is negligible because energy condensed is matter.
Before energy, awareness (soul) is negligible, which is the weakest form of energy.
Before awareness the feeling is negligible, which is only the wave of awareness.
Qualitatively matter and energy are one and the same energy. But quantitative difference
brings the negligence to be treated as almost unreal (Mithya). These bonds are feelings
only and you can laugh at these bonds as said in the Gita (karmabandham prahasyasi).

You can end your life here, but it does not mean that everything is over. The fruits of
action done upon the earth one has to receive either here or in the upper worlds. One
cannot escape the divine administration of Lord. One may escape the judiciary in this
world, but one cannot escape from Lords divine administration. Each and every act is
recorded and the fruits are given according to the merit. Thus withdrawing the life from
this earth, need not mean that the end of the story.

The emphasis on this topic is that, this human life is very very precious, it should not be
wasted unnecessarily. Why cannot one attempt in this life itself to turn his activities
slowly towards Lord? All these suicide and negative thought all arise from attachment to
the worldly bonds, the main reason behind it is the selfish motive in maintaining our
relations.

God hate selfishness, He likes unselfish service. If you see and analyze the worldly
activities you can find the risk involved in the material activities. One has to labor like
anything to maintains these worldly relations, as one more and more attached to the
family he will put more and more effort to store money and hence he has to work more
and more, with selfishness.

But if you see the Lords work, which is the propagation of divine knowledge is devoid of
any selfishness. One is involved in His service because of unconditional love.
Unconditional love means without any expectation. Such work carries no burden, and it
is light to carry. Lords work is very light unlike the worldly work.

Lord comes in every human generation in human form to be able for us to serve Him. By
this we get the opportunity to touch, see, talk to Him and co-live with Him. We can clear
all our doubts. He gives the divine knowledge which removes all our doubts.

Then, is it justifiable to loose this precious life? Remember that only upon this earth, can
we do actions. In the upper worlds there is only enjoyment of our deed only, which is
happiness or misery according to our deeds, once these enjoyment is finished one has to
return to this temporary earth again. If we are lucky to get human birth, which is very
very rare, it should properly utilized to please the Lord, rather than wasting in indulging
too much in the worldly bonds and at last loosing everything.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

256. The majority of the people will oppose the spiritual path preached by you. Only
one in thousands can accept your path. Should you not be universal and preach the
path acceptable to all the people?

In spiritual path, majority always goes to hell. Gita says that one in thousands can only
reach the God. Even that one person will reach the Lord after several births (Kaschit
Maam Vetti, Bahunaam Janmanaam). Jesus also says that the path leading the hell is very
wide with full of rush. The path leading to the Lord is very narrow and only one or two
persons will be traveling. The path to the hell is filled with flowers and the path to the
Lord is filled with thorns. Therefore the path to the Lord is not acceptable to all. Then
shall I recommend the path filled with flowers to all the people, which is easily
acceptable to all of them?

I am universal because I am preaching the narrow thorny path to all the people. But the
path is not universal. I cannot help for that. In the spiritual path only minority exists.
There is only one in millions like Sankara, Ramanuja, Madhva, Jesus, Sai, Vivekananda
etc., in the spiritual path. The gravel stones are in majority. There is only one Kohinoor
diamond, which is valuable. The fraud Gurus shows that flowery path which is “Amrutha
Visham” i.e., it looks like nectar but it is actually the poison. The Satguru shows the
thorny path, which is “Visha Amrutham” i.e., it looks like poison but it is actually the
nectar. Gita says the same (Yat Tat Agre Vishamiva).

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

257. Bhakti

Our effort should be concentrated to achieve “Bhakti” which is the love on God. “Bhakti”
is achieved and is grown by the knowledge of God. For example, you came to know that
Bombay City exists. This is the knowledge of existence of Bombay. By this you want to
see Bombay. As you know the details of Bombay more and more, your desire to see the
city becomes more and more. Knowing details about the Bombay City is again the further
knowledge. So, knowledge is directly proportional to desire. First Rukmini heard that
there is Lord Krishna on this earth. As she heard more and more about Lord Krishna from
Sage Narada, her love on Krishna increased enormously. Narada means he who gives
knowledge. Therefore, ‘Jnana” (knowledge) generates and develops “Bhakthi
(devotion)”. Due to Bhakthi, the Lord is attained. Gita says the same ‘Only By Bhakti I
Am Attained’ (‘Bhaktya………’).

In the spiritual path all your effort must be concentrated in acquiring the knowledge of
God day by day. Once this knowledg- based Bhakti (devotion) is achieved, your qualities
good or bad are immaterial. Whatever may be the vessel, the drink in it is important. The
value paid in a hotel is for the drink only. If you have taken a cup of coffee, you are
paying the cost of the coffee only whether the cup is made of glass or metal. Similarly,
God gives value only for your Bhakti and not for your quality. I will give a beautiful
example here.
“Sabari” is with good qualities and offered fruits to the Lord Rama who is Vishnu. A
hunter called “Kannappa” gave flesh to the Lord Siva. Sabari reached the ‘World of
Vishnu and Kannappa reached the World of Shiva”. Both have reached the same Lord
because Veda says, “Shiva is Narayana”. Both of them have been given the similar value
by the Lord because in both cases, the intensity of the devotion is the same as both gave
even their food without eating. Therefore, this proves clearly that the Lord has no
objection for your bad qualities. Hence, all the effort should be only to achieve and
increase the intensity of love devotion or Bhakti on God. It is not necessary to bother
about your qualities that are inherent coming from millions of births. They are the born
qualities.

The tail of the dog is curved. Any effort cannot make it straight. By force, we can keep it
straight but it has not become straight. Similarly you can control your bad qualities for
not disturbing peace of the world by some force. When you come to God, you come in
your natural state because you can deceive the world showing that your banded tail is
straight but not the God. Whether the river comes in straight path or curved path, the
ocean receives only the water with equality. Similarly, God receives your love
irrespective of your quality. He received “Sabari” and ‘Kannappa” equally. Sabari with
good qualities and Kannappa with bad qualities reached the same Lord, as their devotion
is of same intensity.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

258. The love towards Lord should be spontaneous

The divine knowledge will make you realize that though this world is real for the soul,
the bonds between souls are unreal and dramatic. The sage Astavakra preaches the King
Janaka through “Astavakra Samhita”, in which, the sage says that the mother and son in
this life are becoming husband and wife in the next life! It is a hero and heroine acting
two different roles in different pictures. We have two pictures running side by side in two
theatres in which the same couple of actors acting as husband and wife in one picture and
acting as mother and son in another picture! This bond did not exist in the past birth and
will not exist in the future birth. That which was unreal in the past and will be unreal in
the future is also unreal in the present according to Shankara. It is just a dramatic bond.

Realize the main aim of human life and concentrate on that. You are unnecessarily
worried in the side activity, which is just a change for recreation. Let her or him go to
hell. Do not bother about it. There should be no tension in a game for a student. Game is
just a recreation arranged for change. Do not be jealous on a classmate in a game. Be
jealous in studies on the same classmate, because study is the main aim of your college
life. Attractions are spontaneous, which can neither be created nor suppressed by force.

A forced attraction by fear is not real and what is the use of such faith and love? In
spiritual path also, the attraction to God should be spontaneous and natural without fear
or force.
At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

259. What is the reason for the very strong obstruction in spreading the true
knowledge in this world?

The true God comes down in human form with true knowledge and His few true devotees
accompany him. These few devotees belong to His inner most circles and constitute His
family. In Satyaloka (True world), He is surrounded by millions of angels and sages, who
will be hearing the true knowledge from His mouth. All of them are His followers and
they constantly praise Him. After some time the Lord wants some rest and He comes
down to the earth along with His family. On this earth nobody recognizes Him, nobody
listens Him and nobody follows Him.

It is just like a big officer disgusted with the large crowd in his office goes to some
foreign place along with his family, where he is not identified.

The Lord emits the true knowledge on the earth and His own family members who are in
the human form will only listen and follow Him. What is the use of that drama here?
Already they were His followers. The aim of this drama is to inspire the people of this
world so that at least one person on the earth can become His follower. Gita says the
same (Kaschitmam..). The Lord is not fond of money or fame because He is the husband
of the Goddess of wealth. He is not fond of the fame, because He was bored with the
fame as millions of sages and angels praise Him. When the Lord comes as preacher, He is
called Satguru.

The other human beings are called as only Gurus. These Gurus are fond of money and
fame. They don’t know the true knowledge. Even if they know they will not preach it
because not a single person will turn to them. In fact even in the case of Satguru, same is
the case but His followers who accompanied Him are turning to Him. Therefore the Guru
preaches false knowledge following the psychology of ignorant people. To please the
ignorant person, you must preach him strictly following his psychology. Even if you say
something in addition, that should not contradict his basic psychology. For Ex: - when
you preach a blind person, he will be happy if you say that there is always darkness in
this world.

He will be happy since he always experiences the darkness. In addition, if you say that
there is Sun on the sky, you must say that the Sun is also black. He will be happy to this
additional Sun because the Sun is also black. Suppose you say that there is light in the
world, he will not agree since it contradicts his experience of darkness. Suppose you
establish the existence of light and the existence of illuminating Sun through powerful
logic, he will become emotional and violent because your concept not only contradicts
his experience, but also could not be defeated by his counter logic. It is a double blow on
him. Kauravas did not concede the preaching of Lord Krishna for the same reason.
The priests for the same reason opposed the preachings of Jesus. Mohammed fought with
several religious leaders for the same reason. The priests who were killing animals in the
sacrifice opposed Buddha. Conservative religious leaders oppose even a true scientist.
The scientist wants practical proof and logical proof. All the human incarnations never
adjusted themselves to the world. They preached the true knowledge only because their
aim was the future generations. One generation is nothing compared to millions and
millions of generations on this earth.

When the Lord comes down as Paripurna Avatara, His devotees existing in Brahmaloka
or Satyaloka come down along with Him to assist His mission. The other human
incarnations are the human forms into which the power of the Lord enters. Such human
incarnations are called Avataras of Kala, Amsa etc. Such incarnations are followed by the
devotees existing in the lower worlds below Satyaloka, which are called as Jana Loka,
Tapoloka, Maharloka etc. When the Lord Himself exists in the human body that is called
Paripurna Avatara like Lord Krishna. In the case of Purnaavatara also the Lord exists but
does not emit the true knowledge like Rama. The human incarnations from the upper
worlds come to the earth. In the same manner the human incarnations of Saturn (Kali)
also come to the earth from the lower worlds below the earth. These worlds are called as
Asura Lokas, which are the abodes of demons. These lower worlds are called as intensive
hells.

A soul fallen in these hells is condemned and can never return to the earth. There is a hell
in the upper worlds also. Such souls, which can be rectified by punishment, will enter that
hell in which the Lord is sitting in an energetic body called ‘Yama’. Veda says that a soul,
which harmed itself by turning towards the world, is committing the real suicide. Such
soul goes to the lower permanent hells. Thus both the divine and evil forces enter the
earth and fight with each other. In this Kaliyuga the strength for divine force is only one-
fourth. It is like a question with multiple choice having three wrong answers and one
correct answer.

Lord can destroy all the evil forces in a fraction of a second. But He allows the opposing
force because both the forces are essential for a game. This world gives entertainment to
the Lord like a game. Veda says that the purpose of the creation by the Lord is only the
playful entertainment. Moreover, if one comes out with such multiple-choice questions,
such success is real. Whatever the Lord does, it is always multi-dimensional.

Therefore, you should not be discouraged by this severe test. Your devotion and
determination in the service have a real test in this Kali age. Sankara emitted the true
knowledge irrespective of various opposing scholars. Finally He was killed by the black
magic of Kapalikas. He died by the disease called ‘Bhagandhara’, which is flow of blood.
Kapalikas tried to cut His head also. But He never feared and established the true
knowledge for the future generations. Similarly Jesus, Bhuddha and Mohammed. Even
Swami Dayananda was killed by food poisoning, because he established the true
knowledge based on Vedas and Sastras.

260. Significance of early morning in the worship of God?

Early morning is called Brahma Muhurtham, which means that it is the time to worship
God. At that time, all the people are in deep sleep and nobody will disturb you. The
atmosphere is sacred because the vibrations of mind involved in world matters are not
emitted from the people since they are in deep sleep. Mind is also a form of energy. Mind
disappears in deep sleep. The atmosphere is not polluted by the radiations of worldly
feelings. At that time devotees awake and pray God. Their pure mental rays pervade all
over the world and make the time sacred. Thus it becomes congenial and encouraging
atmosphere.

After sunrise people awake and the materialistic mental radiations are emitted through
their physical senses. The atmosphere is polluted. People will disturb you dragging you to
materialistic discussions. Even by seeing face, you will be affected. If you see a devotee,
you become sacred. The mind and body are inter-related. Since mind is energy and
energy is matter, even if you see the body, the mind in that body is emitted out affecting
you. Therefore, avoid even the vision of materialistic people, not to say about their touch,
conversation and co-living.

After sunrise when you worship God, close your eyes to avoid such people. But, their
mental radiations spread all over the cosmos and are inevitable. It is better to walk in the
early morning while singing devotional songs. Morning walk is good for health. Apart
from this, the mind desires dynamic condition of the body. The body was in static
condition all over the night. Mind is always for a change. Satisfy the mind and you
should not unnecessarily control the mind when it is not necessary.

You can pray God even without bath. Veda, Gita and the very first verse of
Sandhyavandanam say that God can be worshipped irrespective of physical formalities.
After some time body is tired and the mind needs rest. By that time, sunrise is over. Now
you sit at a place and worship God closing your eyes. Thus the time has its own invisible
effect on the spiritual effort. Sattvam is prominent in the early morning. Rajas is
prominent in the day time. Tamas is prominent in the night. Therefore early morning is
the divine time called as Brahma Muhurtham.

261. Yoga & God

You have to receive both the friend and enemy with equality (Suhrunmitraryudasinah—
Gita). By this you will treat the Lord with the same devotion even if He reacts as enemy
towards you to test your faith. The Lord also tests your attachment with the worldly
bonds with reference to His bond. You must prove that His bond is highest. For this you
have to reduce the attractions in the world. Such reduction of your attractions is a part of
Yoga and is useful directly before the Lord.

You should serve the Lord without aspiring anything in return and you must treat both the
respect and insult with equality (Sukha Duhkhe Same, Manavamanayoh—Gita). You
must treat both profit and loss with equality because when you approach the Lord you
may some times get loss instead of profit. Without undergoing such training to achieve
self-control or Atma Samyama, one cannot succeed in the tests of the Lord.

Sudama developed such self-control during the poverty for a long time. He did not do any
sin in spite of the suffering of his family members with poverty. Such training helped him
when he went to Lord Krishna. He stayed with the Lord for a few days. During this
period he never asked the Lord for anything. The Lord also sent him back without even a
trace of help. Sudama never criticised the Lord for not doing any help. He succeeded in
the test of the Lord and achieved infinite wealth.

Thus Gita gives the real meaning of Yoga, which is the self-control without being
attracted by diversions. Such diversions are these charkas, which are nothing but the
obstructions to pass in the test of the Lord. This training is like one full year academic
course and is very important. The test of the Lord is a matter of three-hour examination at
the end of the year. If you have finished this training, the Lord Himself will come to you
in human form, conduct the test and will give you the certificate.

Therefore you should concentrate on the Gita, which is called as Yoga Sastra or The
scripture of Yoga. The examiner, examination and the certificate are consequent steps,
which will take place spontaneously on the divine will. Therefore the study of Gita helps
you really on this day of festival and eating these sweets leads only to problems of
indigestion.

Praising the examiner with songs (Bhajans) also will not help you because the examiner
is very clever and strict and cannot be soaped. It is better to hear His divine knowledge,
assimilate and pass the examination. Such path gives you a dignity and respect to the
divine teacher also.

Instead of taking this royal path, why are you sorting to unlawful means of soaping like
chanting His name (Japam), worshipping Him (Puja), singing (Bhajans) in order to get
such certificates.

262. Identification of Lord Must Be Aided by Buddhi

The Knowledge given by the Lord in human form like the Bible, Gita etc is divine
knowledge. If the concept of human incarnation is realized, the divine knowledge is
recognized. If people can believe in Krishna, Jesus etc as the Lord in human form, the
Gita, Bible etc are recognized as the divine knowledge. But the problem is that there are
several interpretations of such divine scriptures.

These interpretations are contradicting each other. These interpretations are given by
different human beings and no human being can decide the correct interpretation. You
yourself cannot decide the correct interpretation because you are also a human being.
Therefore the original author of that sacred scripture alone can convince you with the
correct interpretation. Such correct interpretation is called as the real divine knowledge.
For this you have to recognize the human form of the Lord present in your generation.
The identity of such recognition is revealed to your inner self, which gets convinced by
such real interpretation. The identification must be aided by your careful and patient
analytical faculty of the intelligence called as buddhi. Even an illiterate person has this
inner self and the analytical faculty even in the absence of language.

263. God and His physical appearence when He come in Human form

A king in Srirangam was attracted to the beauty of the eyes of his wife. Sri Ramanuja
showed the eyes of the Lord, which were radiating with divine knowledge and the king
was attracted to the Lord leaving his wife. The physical appearance of the gross body is
external personality, which is temporary. The qualities of the internal subtle body (along
with the causal body) constitute the internal personality. When the wonderful God
charges the human form by entering the human incarnation, generally He charges the
internal subtle and causal bodies so that the qualities become divine and wonderful. The
qualities of co-human beings may be good but not best and wonderful. Sometimes God
charges the external gross body also according to the requirement as in the case of
Krishna, which may become wonderfully beautiful or even radiating, giving divine
visions and viswarupam is the highest.

Shirdi Sai Baba was not externally beautiful, but His internal personality was divine,
charged by God. God withdrew Himself even in the case of Krishna from the external
gross body at the end. The internal body (subtle and causal) can be called as Brahma or
Vishnu or Shiva according to the predominating quality of the subtle body. Various
qualities arise due to various mixtures of these three qualities giving rise to various
deities. In the Viswarupam, all these deities were shown with the central three qualities.
Whenever the wonder (Maya) is mixed with the medium (Prakriti), the attraction
becomes highest. Wonder (Maya) indicates the presence of God (Mayinamtu …the
Gita).

The atheist says that God does not exist. For him God is nothing i.e., vacant space. This is
the first stage. When he sees miracles he becomes the believer in God. He accepts God as
some power or energy. The power or energy is also formless, like vacant space. So the
concept of God is near to his previous concept and thus the atheist (Scientist) accepts the
formless (Nirakara) God very easily. The third stage is God with form (Sakara). In this
stage statues in the human form are introduced. The training is given to do the sixteen
upacharas (services) to these statues in human form. This training indicates that they have
to worship the God in human form in this way. The sixteen upacharas are actually related
to the human form only. For eg: the first upachara ‘Aavahanam’ means invitation
corresponds to the human being only and not to inert statue. The statue in the temple is
better than the statue in your house.
Why? Because in the temple the ‘Pranaprathista’ i.e., initiation of life is done to the
statue. This again indicates that you have to worship the statue with life. The concept is
the inert statue plus life is equal to human being. Therefore in the temple the statue
indicates that you have to worship the statue with life i.e., the human form of God only.
Like this you are slowly trained to worship the human form of the God by the sixteen
upacharas. In this training when your egoism and jealousy is completely destroyed now
the human form of the God is introduced. Unless your egoism and jealousy are
completely destroyed you cannot accept the human form directly. So the worship of the
inert statue in the human form introduces the concept of human form, then the initiation
of life (Prana pratishta) introduces the concept of living human form. Thus this is a
gradual transformation of you by reducing your egoism and jealousy. When your egoism
and jealousy are completely removed, the final human form of God is introduced. Only a
particular man like Lord Krishna is God. This is Advaita philosophy, which is extended to
every man due to the same jealousy and egoism. If every man is God, nobody requires
salvation.

Like this when you are traveling from vacant space to formless energy or power then you
are accepting the human form but without life which is a statue in your house. In the
same stage you are accepting the statue plus life in the temple, which means only a living
human form. Finally you are catching the God in the present living human form.
Whatever I preached here is having the best practical proof. Hanuman, the greatest of the
human beings in this world worshiped Rama only who was a living human being in his
time. He did not go down i.e.; he never meditated upon the formless God or the statues.
In Valmiki Ramayana such things are not mentioned. He never worshipped even previous
human incarnations like ‘Vamana’. He worshiped only the human incarnation present in
his generation.

Similarly Radha never worshiped ‘Rama’ but worshiped only Krishna who was the
human incarnation of her generation. As per Bhagavatham Radha also never worshiped
the statues or the formless God. Hanuman became Brahma and Radha became the queen
of the 15th World ‘Goloka’. Nobody in this world will attain a better position than these
two. So your spiritual journey must end in recognizing the human incarnation of God
present in your generation. God is impartial and so He comes down in human form in
every generation. If you say Lord Krishna is only the latest incarnation, then that
generation was blessed and God became partial. Therefore God is coming in human form
in every human generation. People are not recognizing Him because after the incarnation
of Krishna the egoism and jealousy are growing continuously in all the human beings.
The man did not recognize the God coming in human form after Krishna. After Krishna
and before ‘Kalki’ is ‘Kaliyuga’. Due to the influence of the ‘Kali’ people are full of
egoism and jealousy and so they cannot recognize the human form of God in ‘Kaliyuga’.

God comes in different human forms in the same time in various levels for the sake of
devotees in various levels. He comes as a schoolteacher for the school students, as a
lecturer for the college students and as a Professor for the post graduate students. Since
the school students and college students are large in number he comes down as a number
of schoolteachers and college lecturers. Such incarnations are called as ‘Amsavataras’,
which mean the incarnations of a small portion of His power. The incarnation of His
radiation is called ‘Kalavatara’ which is the formless God like light worshiped by some
believers. The light travels as waves and the Siva Linga in the temple represents this
formless God. Since the Post graduation students are less in number only one professor
comes down and He is the ‘Pari poorna tamavathara’ i.e., the most complete incarnation,
which reveals the final true knowledge. He is called ‘Satguru’ or the original Datta in the
human form.

Datta exists in two forms. 1) The three headed form. 2) One headed form. The three
headed form indicates ‘Para brahma’ (God) who creates, rules and destroys the Universe
by His three faces. The other single headed form is the external human form in which the
three-headed form exists as the internal form, which is not seen. This is the essence of the
‘Eka Mukha Datta’ (One headed from) and ‘Trimukha Datta’ (The three headed form).
Therefore the Schoolteacher shows miracles and converts the atheist into theist. The
college lecturer trains the theists in the worship of the statues having human form to
remove ego and jealousy in the man and make him a devotee. The last university
professor gives the final true knowledge that God comes down in human form only and
that He (the professor) Himself is God.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

264. The Names of The Lord

The names like Rama, Krishna, Jesus etc., belong to the external human body, which has
taken birth. Such names are generated only after the birth of these human bodies.
Therefore, such names are certainly the names of the external human bodies only, which
are like the shirts. When the human bodies perish, these names also must perish. But
these names exist as eternal names even after the disappearance of these human bodies
due to death. The reason is that these names were directed towards the inner Lord even
during the time of existence these human bodies. A person is carrying vegetables for
selling. You call him by the name “ Vegetables”. The person is not vegetable and the
vegetables are not the person also. But the possessor of the vegetables is called by the
name of the possessed material. Similarly, when the name “ Krishna or Jesus” was called,
this name was directed towards the internal Lord also. Therefore, even if the human body
perished, since the Lord is eternal, Krishna or Jesus is also eternal. When Krishna said
that He will come again and again, whenever necessary ( Yada Yada hi….Gita), it means
the eternal Lord present in the human body will come again and again through different
human forms. Similarly, when it is told that Jesus will come again, it means the Lord
present in that human body will come again. Here the names Krishna and Jesus indicate
the Lord and not the human body.

When some body says that He will come again after 20 years, it does not mean that he
will come in the same shirt. Even in the case of the ordinary human beings the name
indicates the inner eternal soul also. When people say that Subba Rao died, it means that
the name indicates the external human body. People say that Subba Rao’s last journey is
today. It means that the name indicates only the external body, which is going to be
cremated in the burial ground on that day. In these sayings the name indicates the external
human body. But after one-year people say that today is the yearly ceremony of Subba
Rao. When you have stated that Subba Rao finished his last journey one year back, how
can you bring Subba Rao again after one year? Here the name indicates the inner soul.
Therefore, even in the worldly terminology the name indicates both the external body and
inner soul according to the context.

Therefore, when you say that Jesus was crucified and killed, the name indicates the
external human body. When you say that Jesus will come again on final day of
destruction of this world, the name indicates the inner Lord. Thus, the same name
indicates the external or internal item according to the context. When you say that
Krishna danced in Brundavanam, the name indicates the external human body. When you
say that Krishna will come again and again whenever necessary, the name indicates the
inner Lord. If you realize this discrimination, you have no quarrel with any religion.
When you say that Jesus or Krishna will come again, it means that the inner Lord is going
to come in different human bodies again. When you are drawing the picture of Jesus or
Krishna, the picture represents the external human body only and not the inner Lord. You
can never draw the picture of the inner Lord because He is beyond the realm of
imagination. You cannot say about the existence of two unimaginable Lords. When the
Lord is unimaginable, He can be only one. If you say that there are two entities, it means
that both the entities are imaginable. Therefore, you have to accept that there is only one
unimaginable Lord or God. The external human bodies are different and cannot be one.
When I say that Krishna is Jesus, it means that the Lord in the body of Krishna and in the
body of Jesus is one and the same. It does not mean that the two different bodies are one
and the same.

265. The Father & Jesus

Jesus is said to be born to only mother without Father. He always praised Father and did
not regard His mother so much. When a lady cried that His mother is great, He said that
the follower of the instruction of His Father is really great. What is the inner meaning of
all this? Does this mean that He disregarded His mother and praised the non-existing
Father? No. In His language the Father is God. The mother is the primordial energy. He
has gone to the final stage of divine knowledge and realized that God is the root of the
root cause. An atheist does not accept Father and believes in the sole existence of mother
(nature). A theist believes in both. A realized devotee believes only God, since the nature
is also created by God. Without realizing this inner concept, the Christianity is divided
into two schools of son and mother taking everything in physical sense. The son of virgin
means the concept of science, which says that a child is produced from Nature which is in
the form of parents.

In science, both mother and father are equally important representing the sperm and
ovum. This is the material sense, which is not here. In spiritual sense, both are nature or
mother only. There are so many couples without children. The will of God is the father
without which no child is produced. But God is hidden always and is inferred by
knowledge. This point is represented in the example of father and mother even in
physical sense. Therefore, Jesus caught the root of root cause, who is the God or divine
Father and not this primordial energy or mother up to which only science can go based on
perceptional analysis. This does not mean that Jesus really disregarded His mother and
this explanation also does not mean that one should disregard the mother. In the physical
sense both are equal because both are mother only in spiritual sense. God is the father in
the spiritual sense, who is the hidden cause in both the concept and simile.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

266. When God enters one’s life, the mother may loose Godship but not the
mothership. Then God will be God and mother will be mother. In such case one’s
responsibility towards his mother cannot vanish. So, mother cannot be left in taking
‘Sanyasa’. What do you say?
=======================
If your question is correct Sankara (Human Incarnation of God) should not have left his
mother, especially when his mother was without any alternative assistance. Therefore
when God enters, the mother looses not only her God-ship but also her mother-ship. The
God becomes mother for a realized soul. The mother is only a co-actor in this life drama.
As soon as this drama dress (Gross body) is left the actors become disconnected. They go
to the producer of the drama for the remuneration and for the appointment in the future
drama. Similarly when the souls leave their bodies in this world, they become
disconnected and go to the Lord to receive their remuneration which is good and bad
fruits.

After that they will come to the next life with different connections. Therefore for a
realized scholar the Lord becomes mother and father and wife and children. He is related
only to the Lord through all the bonds. The Lord brings the soul to this world like a seed
soaked in the field by the farmer. Thus the Lord becomes the father. Gita says the same
(Aham Bija Pradah Pita). The Lord created the five elements and thus the Gross body of
the soul formed in the mother’s womb is also by the power of the Lord. Therefore, the
Lord is the real mother. The child is delivered only by the will and force of the Lord.
Therefore God becomes the real father and the real mother. For an ignorant person this
mother is both mother and God because he is under the illusion of this dramatic ‘Maya’.
He is forgetting that the soul of mother is acting as mother as per the written rigid script
of the drama called as ‘Vidhi’.

The actors should behave as per the script of the drama. Therefore, the love of the mother
is not real. If it is real, when the soul leaves her body, she should not have forgotten her
son. But the Lord remembers all the previous births because His love on you is real. Gita
says the same (Tanyaham Veda Sarvani Natvamvettha). This means that the Lord
remembers all the births of the soul. But the soul does not remember even a single birth.
This proves that the love of the soul is unreal since it is dramatic. When Abhimanyu died
and went to heaven, the Lord took Arjuna to the heaven. Arjuna was the father of
Abhimanyu.

Abhimanyu could not recognize his father. This proves that the feelings of these dramatic
bonds disappear as soon as the soul leaves the Gross body, which is only the actor’s
dress. Such an ignorant person is a type of the atheist who treats his mother as the God. In
the second stage one treats mother as mother and God as God. He is putting his two legs
in the two boats. In the third step he treats God as mother. These three stages constitute
the entire spiritual journey or Sadhana.

Unless these bonds are broken the bond with God cannot be formed. Unless one is
relieved from the old institution, he cannot join the new institution. The bonds of this
world are many like parents, wife, children, money etc. But the bond with the Lord is
only one as said in Gita (Eka Bhaktih Visishyate). The breakage of the old bonds in this
world is called salvation (Moksha). The formation of the new bond with the Lord is
called as Union with God (Saayujya).

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

267. Buddha kept silent about God

Buddha kept silent about God. This means that God is beyond words, mind and logic as
said in the Veda. Buddha means the Buddhi or Jnana yoga that speaks about the absolute
God. Thus He is the greatest incarnation of God. If one thinks Him as atheist, there can
be no better fool. Mohammed showed the formless medium in which God exists, which is
energy and this is presented by Shankara, because basically energy and awareness are one
and the same. The prophet itself means human incarnation. Prophet is carrying on the
message of God.

The divine knowledge is in Him. Is He not greater than other human beings? Message of
divine knowledge is the characteristic of God (Satyam Jnanam – the Veda) and so we say
God is in Him. Why do you deny it, when God is omnipresent? Then every human being
should give the same message of God, since God is omnipresent. But why Mohammed
alone gave it? Because the power of God or knowledge of God is in him only. Then the
power of God, in the form of knowledge is not omnipresent. In any case, you have to
accept that either God or His Power is only in Prophet Mohammed. That is what human
incarnation is.

You are fighting with us, without analysing the concept of human incarnation. Thus
Buddha, Mohammed and Shankara have made the single phase, which was essential to
the level of the followers at that time. The concept of human incarnation was well
established by Krishna and Jesus. You can find all three branches of Hinduism (Advaita,
Visishta Advaita, Dvaita) in Christianity because Jesus told that He and God are one and
the same (Advaita), that He is the son of God (Visishta Advaita) and that He is the
messenger of God (Dvaita). The stage of philosophy was expressed according to the
required stage of the people of that time.

268. God (Holy Spirit) And Human Incarnation

STATEMENT: - MATHEW 10: 40

Lord Jesus was the human incarnation of the Holy Spirit. The human body of Holy Jesus
is like the metallic wire, which was all over, pervaded by the Holy Spirit. Veda says
‘Antarbahischa’ which means that the Holy Spirit pervades all over the body of Human
Incarnation. Wherever you touch the wire the electric shock is given. Similarly the entire
human body of Holy Jesus is holy. The holiness is the nature of Holy Spirit just like the
shock is the property of electricity.

As the electricity cannot be separated from the wire, the Holy Spirit cannot be separated
from the Holy Jesus. So here the Holy Spirit is the Holy Jesus. Holy Jesus refers this
Holy Spirit as His Father. He tells that He was sent by His father as a messenger. Though
He and His father are one and the same, He speaks like this for which there is a practical
reason i.e.; every human being repels with another human being. A man cannot accept
another man as God due to Jealousy and Egoism. Bhagavatgita says, “A man will insult
Me when I come here in human form (Avajananti mam….)”. For this purpose Holy Jesus
wants Himself to be called only as the messenger of the Holy Spirit by the disciples
whenever He is introduced to the public. If He tells the truth the egoistic public will not
hear even what He preaches and will reject Him. Therefore He is telling His disciples to
introduce Him as a messenger only. Of course, the disciples are really the messengers of
Holy Jesus.

Holy Spirit has taken over the human body of Holy Jesus and pervaded all over the body
to preach the divine knowledge to this world. The same Holy Spirit is sending the
disciples for the propagation of the Divine knowledge. Both the body of Holy Jesus and
the disciples are instruments of the Holy Spirit chosen for different purposes. The Holy
Spirit is preaching through the body of Holy Jesus and is propagating the divine
knowledge through disciples. Therefore if you respect the disciple you are respecting the
Holy Spirit indirectly. Though both the instruments exist like this, the Holy Spirit is
present in Jesus and is not present in the disciples.

Due to this difference the disciple is an indirect instrument and the direct instrument is
Holy Jesus. The disciple propagates the divine knowledge after hearing from the Holy
Jesus. Therefore when such disciple is respected, Holy Jesus is respected first and then
the Holy Spirit. But among the disciples there may be some person who cannot repeat
what Holy Jesus exactly preached. In such a case the Holy Spirit will take over the body
of that disciple and preaches (Mathew 10: 20). Such a disciple differs from Holy Jesus
because the Holy Spirit resides in that disciple for some time only where as the Holy
Spirit resides in Jesus all the time.

Holy Jesus is telling that He is the messenger of the Holy Spirit and He is also telling that
the disciple is His messenger. He is giving the same status to Himself and the disciple by
telling like this. The reason is that some disciple may become jealous in future if He says
that He Himself is the Holy Spirit where as the disciple is His messenger only. The
difference in the status may bring jealousy. Therefore He is maintaining the equal status
so that no devotee becomes jealous of Jesus in the future. Due to jealousy the disciple
may slip from Holy Jesus.

When He says that He is only the messenger, this shows the humble and submissiveness
of Holy Jesus. He wants His disciples to be humble and submissive to the Holy Spirit
through out their lives. For this purpose He sets Himself as an ideal. The Holy Spirit
present in the human body of Holy Jesus is the essence of true and infinite knowledge as
Veda says “Satyam Jnanam Anantam Brahma….”. Humbleness and submissiveness are
the fruits of the Divine Knowledge. Therefore the humbleness and submissiveness are the
qualities of the Holy Spirit itself. This means whatever Holy Jesus speaks is the statement
of the Holy Spirit only.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

269. I & Father Are Same, Son Of God, Messenger Of God

To a deserving devotee, Jesus told He and His father are one and the same. When Jesus
saw a devotee who was slightly affected by jealousy and egoism, Jesus came down by
one step saying that He was the son of the God. The word son is indicating that He is
different from the God but the same spirit is present in both like the same blood in the
father and the son. This means that He is different and smaller than the God but at the
same time has the same essence. It is like the relationship between the mighty ocean and
the tiny water drop. The father is major and the son is minor component. They resemble
qualitatively but differ quantitatively. This is the visishta advaita of Ramanuja.

When Jesus met a devotee who is fully bacterialised by jealousy and egoism He told that
He was the humble messenger of God. This is the Dvaita of Madhva. Therefore the
human incarnation will declare its level based on the level of the receiver. Mohammad
told that He is the messenger of the Lord. Thus there is a gradual degradation of spiritual
obedience and the gradual growth of jealousy and egoism. Jesus stands as a transition
bridge between the Advaita of Krishna and Dvaita of Mohammad.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

270. Science and God

Science has developed tremendously and faculty of logic improved a lot. People used to
reject the existence of an unimaginable item. They refused God, who is unimaginable.
But today in Science, Heisenberg proves the existence of uncertainty or unimaginability
owing to the limits of human capability. Today is the right time to introduce the
unimaginable concept of God. Buddha kept silent about God because, He did not like to
introduce God through some unreal concepts. But, this lead to the misunderstanding of
Buddha as an atheist. Shankara introduced God as almost unimaginable by representing
God as awareness. Awareness is almost unimaginable to an ordinary person. Mohammed
introduced God as power or energy. Awareness is energy only. Thus there is no
fundamental difference between these two incarnations. But a common man cannot
imagine God through that concept. God is represented by the energetic form as Narayana
by Ramanuja or divine Father in heaven by Jesus. The awareness or the energetic form is
charged by God and thus there is no lie even if it is considered as God just like the
electrified wire considered as current. But the entire awareness or energy or all the
energetic forms are not charged by God.

All the wires are not electrified. Angels, who are servants of God, are not God. Indra, an
energetic form was not God as proved by Krishna in Bhagavatam. The energetic form is
imaginable but not perceivable. It appears only to the mind. It appears to the eyes also,
but very rare. Even, if it appears to eyes, the time of appearance is very short and so it is
not congenial for preaching the knowledge. Therefore, the materialized form is necessary.
The human body is the best suitable form for such purpose. A statue or photo can be also
perceivable and God can charge it also. But such photo or statue cannot preach. It can
preach also by the super power of God. But it becomes quite unnatural. The unnatural
means create tension and fear, which are not good background or conducive for receiving
the knowledge. Such form cannot mix with humanity freely to preach the knowledge.
Therefore, the concept of Krishna of human incarnation (Manusheem… the Gita) was
more stressed by Madhva through Rama and Hanuman. Krishna, a human form declared
that He is God based on the electrified wire. The same concept of “God in flesh” was
introduced by Jesus, who stated that He and His Father are one and the same.

Suppose you have started a school with first standard and you are not admitting anyone
into the next second standard from outside. Then you are teaching only to the first
standard, though you are a postgraduate and can teach up to the 10th standard. To start
the second standard in that year, majority was not available. You will teach the same
students next year in second standard in another full section. Meanwhile if one or two
students worthy of second standard approach, you will guide them personally. Same was
the situation. Whenever the human incarnation came, it was dealing with the majority as
a section and the lesson pertaining to that standard was only taught. He taught a few
devotees of high standard personally but that was not carried on. Therefore, today you
think that the preaching of God in the human form on that day was only the first standard.
Today, majority is available due to the development of logical faculty and so the high
standard is opened as a section.

271. Spiritual Knowledge - Concepts Of Science

Science is the logical analysis of the items existing in this creation based on only one
authority that is perception (Pratyaksha Pramanam). Even in the ancient logic, all the
authorities (Pramanas) are based on perception only. You see the fire giving smoke. This
is deduction or perception. When you see the smoke coming from a distance and do not
see the fire, you say that fire exists there and this is induction or inference (Anumana
Pramanam). But this induction is based on your previous deduction only. Somebody says
to you that fire gives smoke. If that person is your dearest, you believe it and infer the fire
from the smoke. This is authority of word ‘Shabdha Pramanam’.

Though you have not seen the fire, your dearest person has seen the smoke coming from
fire. Like this all the authorities are based on perception only. I do not find any scripture
of any Religion, which contradicts the experience of perception. There are four ways of
authority. 1) Sruthi, which is the original scripture. 2) Smrithi, which is the commentaries
of Scholars on the original scripture. 3) Yukthi, the logical analysis based on deduction,
induction etc., 4) Anubhava, the experience based on the perception of the items in this
world, which may be direct or indirect. Out of these four ways, the fourth way is the most
powerful. If anything contradicts the fourth way, that is not valid or it may be a
misinterpretation based on misunderstanding of the Sruthi or Smrithi or Yukthi. Thus
Science and Philosophy are not separate. The very frame of the spiritual knowledge is
Science only. Thus Science is the basic foundation and over all underlying structure of all
the Scriptures.

A true Scientist should always stand on the perception and should not deny the
experience derived by perception. If he denies, he is not a scientist. All top most scientists
were philosophers and spiritual people only. Those scientists have travelled along the
river of Science and reached its end, which is the ocean of spiritual knowledge called as
philosophy. Philosophy is pervading all the branches of Science. Every branch of Science
gives Ph.D as the final degree. Ph.D means Doctor in Philosophy. If Science and
Philosophy are different, why this word Philosophy is regarded so much by all the
branches of Science? Philosophy means the essence of the knowledge of every branch
that is experienced when one reaches the end of that branch.

Therefore, the spiritual knowledge, which is the ocean is the Philosophy in which all
branches of Science and all the Religions merge and loose their identity. A scientist who
has not reached the end of Science and who is still travelling in the river only denies the
existence of the ocean, since he is still perceiving the limiting boundaries of his
knowledge – river. Such river-travelers are called as atheists. They neither see the ocean
nor see the other rivers. Even the follower of any particular Religion is in the state of this
atheist only.

He is no better than these atheists because he believes that God is a particular form only,
which is a small part of this creation. Some other followers believe God as formless, who
is the all-pervading cosmic energy. Since cosmic energy is also a part of the creation,
their form of God is very big. These atheist-scientist believe that this creation is God.
Thus all these are atheists only. All these atheists, who may be scientific atheists or
religious atheists, will realize the true nature of God only when they reach the end of the
Science or Religion.

A scientific atheist is contradicting his own authority, which is the perception. When the
human incarnation performs the inexplicable miracles, how can they deny the perception
of such miracles? You may do that miracle in an alternative way, but that does not
contradict the different path of the original miracle. One may get first class by copying.
Such false first class cannot contradict the genuine first class. The result is same, but the
process is different. You may produce ash by putting a fine powder of wet salt in the
grews of your hand like a magician. The same ash may be produced by a divine miracle
also. Since the result is same, can you argue that the process also should be same? Since
the first class result is same in the case of the original student and a fraud student, do you
mean that the hard work of the original student is fraud?

Do you mean that the original and fraud students are one and the same? Therefore, the
same result can have two different processes. Since the result is same, processes need not
be same. Do you mean that a result has only one process? Is it not contradicting the very
fundamentals of Science? A Chemical compound can be produced in several ways (Hess
Law). Since the compound is same, do you mean that the alternative reactions are also
one and the same?

Same Chennai city can be reached by several ways. Since the end City is same, do you
mean that all the paths are not different? Do you mean that all the paths are merged as
one path only and thus there is only one path to reach the Chennai city? Therefore,
conservative scientists and conservative religious followers can be categorized as
immature analysts. The immaturity indicates their position in the river and maturity
indicates their position in the end of the river, which is the ocean. Einstein, Newton,
Heisenberg etc., are the top most scientists who have traveled and traveled along the
Science River and reached the final spiritual ocean.

272. Should we ask the Lord to protect us at the end of our prayers and meditation?

First of all we must know that prayers by mouth and meditation by mind do not have any
value like offering a cup of water to the guest has no value. Even in the hotel one can
drink a cup of water without paying anything. If you ask the Lord to protect you for your
prayer and meditation it is something like charging the customer for drinking a cup of
water in the hotel. Only service to the Lord in terms of sacrifice of work (Karma
Sanyasa) and Sacrifice of fruit of work (Karma Phala Tyaga) can have the value like
serving a plate of meals to the customer in the hotel. Of course the plate of meals should
be always associated with drinking water also. Similarly the service to the Lord should
also be associated with prayers and meditation. Service without prayer and meditation is
ninety-nine percent and cannot be one hundred percent.

The prayer and meditation have significance and value only when they are associated
with the service. Therefore asking for protection after prayer or meditation is not at all
justified. Of course asking for protection after the service associated with prayer and
meditation is justified but not appreciable. When you ask for the fruit, it shall be given
according to the value of your service only. But if you don’t ask for the fruit your service
attains infinite value and you will get the permanent protection from the Lord without any
account of your service. Are you asking your son for the fruit as soon as you serve him?
Whatever service you can, you have done to your son and when you become old
whatever service he can he renders it to you.

Is there any account between you and your son? If you deserve, the Lord will protect you
and you need not remind Him about this. If you are not deserving He cannot violate His
own rules and administration for the sake of an undeserving fellow. If you are not asking
Him for any favor, you are a good follower of His administration and He will be pleased
with you even without your prayers and worship. He will become angry if you ask Him
to protect you even if you deserve, because he becomes angry since you have
unnecessarily reminded Him. He becomes angry with you if you do not deserve, because
you are asking the Lord to violate His own administration. Therefore in both the cases
you should not mention your desire for protection or for any other fruit before the Lord.

Though no body is there to question the Lord even if He violates the rules, the angels and
sages are constantly looking at Him through meditation. If the Lord violates the rules in
the case of undeserving, these divine devotees will be shakened in their impression about
the Lord and their meditation is spoiled. Therefore the Lord will never harm the divine
devotees.

273. I am that Dattatreya

I am that Dattatreya born to sage Atri and mother Anasuya. I came down from Sahya hill
– to establish true spiritual knowledge. I correct the spiritual preachers, hence, My
students are very few. In that generation I had only one student that was Adi Shankara.
The reason is not due to the high standard of My knowledge. The only reason is that My
knowledge is the truth always. Truth is not liked by many; only Maya attracts the masses
here. The gravel stones are plent; only one Kohinoor Diamond. A school-teacher has
hundreds of students surrounding him. They are always fond of biscuits and sweets
always. They always like miracles to fulfill selfish desires. They like to use God for them;
not to use themselves for God. Arjuna used God for his work, he has no temple at all
here. Hanuman used Himself for God’s work, for Him many temples.

At the lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

274. God uses fruit of your bad deed to create devotion in you

God grants certain desires also to uplift the soul gradually. God is preacher in this world
He uses the fruits of your deeds to develop you spiritually. This world is called as Karma
loka, where you develop yourself guided by God acting as preacher. This world is not to
consume fruits of your good and bad deeds. For that the upper worlds exist; they are
called as Bhoga Lokas. God uses fruit of your bad deed from the list of your punishments
to create devotion in you; souls are like ignorant children only.

They will never become devotees by the real devotion here. They study for five minutes
on giving a small stroke with cane.
They become again mischievous forgetting the effect of cane. Similarly, a trouble is a
cane, you will become devoted to God. You derive happiness, again you forget devotion
[and] become yourself. The fruit of your good deed acts as a gap between two troubles.

The happiness gives a gap making you fresh for re-devotion. That comes again in the
next trouble, another stoke of cane.
Like this God uses your deeds in any sequence He likes as per the requirement of your
spiritual development in this world.

When you are not changed you will face final enquiry after this rare human birth and you
will be thrown to hell forever. If you are good for society without any devotion to God,
you will be sent to heaven till the duration of fruit exists. [Then] You will come down to
earth. God acts as a judge only after your exit from this human birth, not as a preacher at
all. Therefore, there is no re-birth, certainly no human re-birth. Only for few exceptional
cases, in which there is hope of future spiritual development, God grants human rebirth.
The liberated souls, by his devotion, are always with God taking human re-births to assist
God in human form here.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

275. Pravrutti and Nivrutti

God comes in human form to set up Pravrutti and Nivrutti. For Pravrutti, angels follow
Him; monkeys were angels of Rama.
Pandavas were also angels, who assisted Krishna to protect justice. For Nivrutti, closest
circle and top most sages follow Him. Some times God Himself comes in the role of
assistant also. Gopikas were top most sages. Radha was God Himself. Lakshmana was
Adishesha, from innermost circle to show the path of firm devotion in service. Hanuman
was God Himself. These groups assisting God are called as Ganas. He is their Lord,
hence, He is called as Ganapathi. All divine names stand for Him. He is Brahma since
greatest here; He is Vishnu pervading world by His preaching of divine knowledge.
Narayana means source of Divine knowledge only. Shiva means sacred in spite of the
Maya exhibited by Him in testing devotees. Satguru is the final meaning.

At the Lotus Feet of His holiness, Sri Dattaswami

276. Yoga means reaching God here

Gita is called as Yoga Shastra since yoga means reaching God here. After recognizing His
human form, yoga means union; it is reaching the contemporary human incarnation,
Krishna during that time. Recognition itself is very difficult; retaining is very very
difficult, since He throws away devotees by exhibiting powerful Maya. The first five
steps of yoga of Patanjali give achievement of perfect physical and mental health
required for divine service. It is the stage essential for drama; today people stop here
only.
The next three steps of Yoga give firm service to God here. Dharana is bond with God,
Dhyana is concentration of that bond, Samadhi is firm decision without any vibration in
the bond. Hanuman is the best example for the eight steps of Yoga.
Today people prepare stage, by following the first five steps. Pratyahara is the fifth step
in which you withdraw from world.
By that you save mental energy without any dissipation of it. Then you concentrate all
that in the service of the Lord here.
While crossing sea, angels tested Hanuman for His mental power. Apart from physical
strength it is also essential in His service. Today after the fifth step, yoga is used to
concentrate mental power by withdrawing it from society to focus it on self and his
family! After fifth step, diversion is done from the line of God to family. By this, yoga is
no more divine; it becomes only a medical science. Patanjali fixed Lord as goal of Yoga.
The chakras are only whirlpools that try to swallow the swimmer trying to reach the other
bank, God. Chakras have no physical significance. They are only simile for bonds other
than God; cross them not straight, but by a curving turn only.

Cross whirlpool in the same way. Cross Maya by using Maya only. You have to know
both sincerity and tactful cheating to reach God. Sincerity in the bond to God, tactics in
the worldly bonds is needed. Shankara cheated mother, but always sincere in mission of
God. Cheating is sin in Pravrutti, but in Nivrutti it is not sin at all. The human incarnation
is human being charged by God.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

277. Veda says that space came – from the soul, Atman

Then, the process of creation is explained in sequence. At the end, the soul, Purusha, is
said to be generated. Atman and purusha are same, but there must be difference otherwise
the first cause cannot be the last product. The similarity is that Atman or Purusha means
human being. The difference is that Atman is human incarnation, [and] Purusha is the
ordinary human being in the world. Externally both look like the same human being.
Internally also, you will find the same three bodies in both the human being and also in
human incarnation. Gross, subtle and causal bodies constitute both. But in human
incarnation exists the extra fourth item called as unimaginable God, who is invisible by
any means. Not only invisible but also unimaginable to intelligence. The reason is that
God is beyond three spatial dimensions. It means God is beyond three-dimensional space.
Space is invisible energy, even ancient logic says that space is made of atoms, atoms
mean quantized units. Bending of space around object proves that space is energy. The
human incarnation is human being charged by God.

Since God is invisible there is no visible difference between the human incarnation and
the ordinary human being. You may say that "why the word Atman is used here?" Instead,
the word Brahman or God could have been used. The reason for this is very clear, if you
are not jealous. The only address of God for the human beings in this world, being the
human incarnation, that alone was given here. This means that Krishna generated the
space, first. Here Krishna indicates God charging that specific human body. You cannot
mention single name like Krishna or Rama because there are several human incarnations
on earth. But every human incarnation is a human being visibly. Hence, the word soul or
Atman is used here in general. Remember, in Sanskrit, Atman stands for human body
also.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

278. The inert energy produced by oxidation of food is the awareness

Awareness is only the name of a specific type of work like walking, talking, eating etc.
Work is a form of energy. The original form of energy is converted into specific work.
Specification of work depends on specification of system. Electricity is the form of
energy; the same is converted into different types of works in corresponding specific
machines. Same electricity in grinder is converted in to grinding work. Same in a drilling
machine is converted in to drilling work. Similarly, the inert energy produced in the form
of heat by oxidation of food due to interaction with the oxygen, gets converted into
awareness in nervous system-machine.

Awareness means knowledge. It is the process of knowing; knowing means a type of

work. Work is not independent item.
It depends on the working element and the working machine. The working element here
is the inert energy liberated. The working machine here is the nervous system. If a small
electric shock is given nervous system stops functioning any more; the work is also
stopped at once.

In deep sleep also nervous system rests and no work. When one awakes from deep sleep
the work starts again. Work is property of inert energy; knowledge is property of
awareness. Awareness is also property of inert energy vanishing in deep sleep. Inert
energy remains without exhibiting knowledge and awareness. Hence, this inert energy is
called as Nirgunam or quality-less. Awareness or knowledge is only a quality or a
property only. Sattvam is knowledge; sattvam is a quality and not entity. The entity here
is inert energy that remains in deep sleep. Even the inert energy is dynamism, or
oscillation of intensity. It is propagation of waves; it is again called as Rajas. Rajas is also
a quality only; its inertia is called as Tamas.

Tamas is again a quality only. The soul or inert energy in cosmic magnification is called
as the primordial energy or Mula Maya or Mula Prakruti, it is also a property only.
Property is dependable entity is independent substratum. Blue color is a property, the
flower is the entity or dravya. If the flower is bleached it looses its blue color. It became
Nirgunam or attribute-less relatively. With respect to blue color the flower is not
absolutely nirgurnam to be called as God. Similarly, inert energy or soul lost its property
of awareness in deep sleep and became Nirgunam relatively, and so it is not absolute
Nirgunam or God.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

279. Complete description of Maya

Final entity is God only, the ultimate substratum of creation. The first creation is this
primordial energy or space, Akassha.
Ultimate Nirgunam finally stands for ultimate God only. But Nirgunam can also be used
relatively to created items. Radio is on a table; the table is finally standing on earth. Earth
is the ultimate support but table is also relatively, a support with respect to the radio
standing on it. Similarly, the inert energy is called as Nirgunam relatively. The inert
energy is entity, relatively with respect to awareness. Awareness is entity relatively with
respect to knowledge. The relative Nirgunam is not the absolute Nirgunam, the God.
Table is relative support it is not absolute support, the earth.

Space, invisible energy appearing as vacuum or Shunyam, generates visible energy or

Agni and matter in three states. Finally space generates awareness, a special typical work.
Mula Maya or space gives matter, visible energy and awareness. These three are Maha
Maya, the conversion of Mula Maya into Maha maya is apparent from the view of Mula
Maya. From the view of Maha Maya conversion is real. Apparent conversion is Vivarta –
real conversion is Parinama. If you see mud in the pot conversion is apparent. If you see
the pot only conversion is real. Vivarta says that no pot exists without the mud. Parinama
says that pot brings water but not the mud. Both are simultaneous truths with respect to
cause and effect. There is no difference between Shankara and Ramanuja. Shankara is for
Vivarta – Ramanuja is for Parinama. But the main point here is, conversion is limited
here. Between Mula Maya and Maha Maya God is not here. Generation of Mula Maya
from God is not the topic. The evolution of Mula Maya from God is unimaginable. Mula
Maya is imaginable but God is unimaginable. The production of imaginable from
unimaginable does not exist anywhere in this imaginable creation. Only conversion of
imaginable into imaginable is known. As Mula Maya generates Maha Maya, Maha Maya
gives Maya. Matter gives forms; Agni gives qualities like colors etc. Awareness gives
feelings like knowledge, love etc.

Mula Maya with respect to God; Maha Maya with respect to Mula Maya. Maya with
respect to Maha Maya is Mithya – Mithya is relatively real. Entire creation is Maya –
Maha Maya and Mula Maya. The soul is in Maha Maya. For soul Maya is Mithya. For
God entire creation is Mithya, not for the soul. The dream is Maya only; it is Mithya for
the soul. But the creation is not Maya alone to be Mithya for the soul; creation is dream
for God only. For the soul Maya in creation is like the dream. Forms, qualities and
feelings constitute Maya in creation. When Shankara says that the creation is Mithya for
the soul, the creation is confined to Maya only. Only the forms, qualities and feelings are
Mithya for soul.

Primordial energy, matter, visible energy and awareness are Mithya for God only. Dream
of the soul is a simile for the creation of God, simile is only a simile, after all. Concept is
creation of God, simile is dream of soul. Through the simile concept must be understood
clearly. Simile should not be taken as the very concept itself. The soul can enjoy the
Maya part of this creation as dream. But the soul should not treat the other two parts as
dream. For example take a girl, the beautiful form of her body, the shining color of
energy, and her love, the feeling. All the three are Mithya relative realities only for you
with respect to her matter, her energy and her awareness. You should not be trapped by
the Mithya part of the girl.

But one should not think that total girl herself is Mithya. The matter and energy of her
body and her awareness are not Mithya, they are real – equal to your self. If you say that
the girl is Mithya you are also Mithya. Yourself and girl are Mithya for the primordial
energy. Both of you are Maha Maya and Mithya for Mula Maya. Mula Maya is Mithya
for God both of you are also Mithya for God, who alone can create Mula Maya or the
space. A liberated soul blessed with super powers from God
Stands in the plane of Mula Maya. Maha Maya is Mithya for him only; even he cannot
create the Mula Maya.

The creator of Mula Maya is God alone. God alone is the creator, ruler and destroyer of
Mula Maya of creation. As God enjoys with relatively real creation like a dream, you can
enjoy the Maya part of this creation as a dream. For God entire creation is cinema; for
you Maya alone is a similar cinema. Maya is cinema in this creation-cinema. You are a
part of cinema for God, Maya is cinema for you.

In a drama, roles are forms, colors are visible qualities, actions are feelings. All these
three are Mithya for you. But the stage, actors and lights are not Mithya for you. With
super powers you can control Maha Maya as Mithya. But you cannot generate the very
Mula Maya or space. The energy liberated from the fission of an atom can destroy the
total awareness existing in all the humanity! You are a part of Maha Maya – controlled by
Mula Maya.

You cannot create even an atom how can you be God? Advaitin says that awareness is
converted in to dream. The dream consists of living and non-living objects together. He
takes this similarity into this entire creation and says that since creation consists of both
living and non-living items, the cause of the universe must be also the same awareness.
Hence, he concludes that soul is the common awareness. But the dream is not the actual
creation in anyway. There is similarity but both differ in degree of reality.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

280. End of world

A pin and a hill differ quantitatively but reality is same. A hill in the dream and a pin in
the world differ in reality. After the state of dream deep sleep results everywhere. The
awareness is converted into the inert energy.Similarly when the creation is fully
destroyed, the inert primordial energy results like in the deep sleep. Even the souls are
converted into inert impressions.
When the cinema is put off, the cinema remains as film. The film is static impressions on
the inert substratum. Similarly after the final dissolution souls are also fixed as inert
impressions in the film of primordial energy.
It is a static impression of the entire creation called as Avyaktam, which means that it is
not displayed as show. When the awareness disappears in the final dissolution, how can
you say that awareness is the final substratum? The activities of living and non-living are
static here. The activity or work of living being is awareness. This primordial inert energy
as a static film stands based on the final substratum which is the God. The inert energy in
deep sleep is also a static film carrying on various feelings as static impressions. It is a
microstate representing the final dissolution.

The inert energy in deep sleep, the static microfilm is also based on God only and not on
individual awareness, which already disappeared in deep sleep. You are rising from deep
sleep only by will of God and not by the will of your soul or the awareness that
disappeared. Similarly the macro film of this entire cosmos after the final dissolution,
called as static primordial energy rises to become active as cinema by the will of God
only. Since God wishes, immediately you conclude Him As awareness, applying logic
derived from worldly examples. God is omnipotent and hence can do anything above
logic. Veda says that God eats every thing, this does not mean that God is fire called as -
eater of every thing, Sarvabhakshaka. Brahma Sutra explains this “Attaa
Chaaracharagrahanat”. God burns every thing in final dissolution, but not fire. Veda says,
“God walks without legs, catches without hands”. This means that God can wish without
being awareness.

Brahma Sutra says “ Due to wish not primordial energy”. This means, since primordial
energy cannot wish, being inert, it is not the ultimate God, this does not mean that God is
awareness since God wishes. “God is not inert” does not mean that God is awareness,
you are not Rama. This does not mean that you are Lakshmana. You are neither Rama nor
Lakshmana God is beyond both.

God is neither inert nor awareness, He is unimaginable. Mula Maya or primordial energy
has only one defect; that is, it cannot wish being inert, awareness has defects. More than
hundred; very easy to deny it. Vyasa wrote one sutra only to deny Mula Maya, but he
wrote several to deny awareness in body “Anupapattestu….” etc. Awareness is available
only in a living body. Continuous awareness is only assumption, not practical. Matter,
visible energy like light and awareness dissolve in Mula Maya, when Mula Maya is
rejected to be God; not to speak of awareness which already dissolved.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

281. God is unknowable

If you say that He is this and He is not that, it means that you have understood God, none
knows God, Gita says this. Only God knows God, Veda says. If you say that you know
God you must be God. You say that you are awareness and that awareness is God. Yes,
you are only awareness. You know yourself, we agree, but awareness is not God since
you know awareness (yourself). Every one is awareness like you. If God is awareness,
every body knows God. Then, how Gita said that None knows God? Then, how Vedas
say that? If any body says that he knows God, he does not know God at all, if any body
says that he does not know God he knows God, this means God is unknowable.

Advaitins have misunderstood even the theory-class. Advaita or monism is limited to

human incarnation only. It should not be extended to every human being here. Advaita
applies to Shankara, He is human incarnation. He swallowed molten lead, followers
could not do so. He clearly filtered human beings from Him by this miracle. He told
“Shivah Kevaloham”; it means that He alone is God. You have misunderstood Advaita in
the very first step itself by extending it to all humanity so that you become God. This
shows your ambition to become omnipotent God. Soham means that you are God, this is
the final eternal fruit. It is possible but you have to travel in a special path, it is Dasoham,
which means that you are humble servant to God. The address of God to serve is the
human incarnation here. The care in service is that you should never aspire for soham.
Hanuman studied Gita from Sun, God told Gita to Sun, first. He understood that Advaita
is fruit, – Dvaita is the path to reach it.

With utmost care, He served His contemporary human incarnation; He received the fruit.
Ramayana is the practical procedure. After understanding theory, Veda, from Sun,
returned to earth. Advaitin has not understood even the theory told by Shankara. The Sun
of knowledge on earth, but follower is not Hanuman! The follower is only a monkey
jumping quickly from right interpretation to wrong interpretation. How can he come to
the practical procedure? Ramayana is just a story for him. Rama is Datta testing devotees
severely, first He masked Himself with thick ignorance to impress that – He is a common
man. All His life is only examination of devotees, no preaching here. All the preaching
was over in the upper world for devotees.

He never showed miracles. Lakshmana left his wife for Rama. He acted as a watchman
while Rama enjoyed Sita in hut. Rama showed climax of love to wife by running for deer.
Rama over-acted by weeping for wife, all this is to divert Lakshmana towards his wife.
Lakshmana was firm and never misunderstood Rama for His lust. Rama acted as
incapable in several occasions; Hanuman solved all His problems. Some times Hanuman
showed miracles to help Rama, but Hanuman always praised Rama as omnipotent God.
Hanuman never thought himself as God, only servant.

Every step of Ramayana is a message for Pravrutti externally, but internally every step is
a test in the end of Nivrutti. Similarly Bhagavatam is a test of Nivrutti for the sages.
Krishna acted as a thief and over showed lust for ladies. But the sages recognized Him
and surrendered totally to Him. Mahabharatha shows the failures of Pandavas in Nivrutti.
Even Dharma Raja, a leader in Pravtutti could not succeed. The places of failure are also
important to know for avoiding. These three epics are the laboratory – manuals after
theory.

282. Human form of God appearing as Satguru is to be – worshipped

Deepaka, a student of sage called as Vedadharma here performed lot of service to His
preacher, in this Kashi. The three divine forms of God appeared before him on the bank
of this river Ganga – he denied them. He told that his preacher is sufficient for him.

The essence of the story is that human form of God appearing as Satguru is to be
worshiped and not energetic forms.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

283. The main aim of life

You are admitted in the college and your main aim is to get the degree. If you fail in the
exams your main aim is upset, therefore, you should not get tension. Similarly you should
have tension if the main aim of the human life i.e., to achieve the grace of God, fails.
Except that, all this family life and relationships are only extra curricular activities. In
your college life, a game is conducted as an extra curricular activity. Suppose you are
defeated in it. You should take it sportively and not seriously, because that is not the main
aim. Therefore take everything in life sportively, because, this life is not the ultimate aim.
If family life only is the goal, even animals and birds have their family lives. The
specialty of human life is to think and achieve the grace of God.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

284. Surya the real devotee of God

Just now, Lakshman (Mumbai) told that Surya told him that atleast once in a life time, the
total sacrifice should be done. But he has already done that. One day he removed all his
earnings which are in the name of his son and deposited in the bank of Trust for God's
Mission. His wife, who is a good devotee of Me, also quarrelled for that act. He did not
even inform about his sacrifice! Only later on, it was known from his wife. Is he not
Saktuprastha really? Unfortunately, I am not the Lord in human form. Had I been the
Lord, I would have sent him to Brahmaloka. Atleast, I pray the Lord to give him
Brahmaloka, when he leaves his gross body in course of time as per the rules of nature.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

285. Become zero to become hero

Whenever a soul wants to be attracted by other soul or souls, it is only desire for fame,
which has its root in egoism. If one makes himself as zero, he will become hero, since the
grace or power of God enters into him. Arjuna without Krishna (God) was defeated even
by hunters from the forest. When he was associated with Krishna, he defeated all great
warriors and became the topmost hero. Hanuman is the greatest hero in every aspect
because, He always thinks Himself as zero. He sat on a stone like a school boy, when
other monkeys were expressing their capacities to jump over the sea. Other monkeys
were posing as heroes. He sat silently making Himself as zero.

But He became the real hero by the grace of God and crossed the sea just by one short
jump! He declared Himself as the weakest monkey (Mattah pratyavarah Kashcit –
Ramayana). Therefore learn to be attracted to God and not to attract others. Desire for
fame is also a wine to induce the egoism. When Vivekananda was roaming in the streets
of America, nobody cared for him. When he stood on the stage, then also nobody was
attracted to him. But when he surrendered himself to his Guru, the power entered him and
he attracted crowds by the divine knowledge – showers! If you become the absolute zero,
you will be made infinite hero by God.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

286. God decides the sin.

The grace of God is also not related to sex for a householder, who is involved in the sex
just for a few moments as in any biological function and involves himself in God’s work
without caring for it. It is the mind that is related in this issue and not the gross body
which is inert. Scholars say “Enaivaalingita kanta Tenaivalingita suta’ which means that
the same gross body embraces wife and also daughter. The physical action is same. But
the mind is different. The mind is responsible for the sin. Actually, here mind means the
intelligence (Buddhi) that decides everything. Buddhi is the driver of this chariot body.
The driver is guided by his knowledge in driving. Therefore, Buddhi or the driver means
the knowledge or Jnana yoga that ultimately decides the sin. Only analysis can decide the
sin (Buddhiyukto…the Gita). This knowledge that comes from God alone is correct.
Therefore God decides the sin.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

287. “I have no time to think of God. I do not bother about God.”

You must realize that the sacrifice is of the fruit of work or work, which is practical.
Sacrifice of words and feelings is of no use because God can never be fooled. I put one
question to that person. Suppose in the place of God, your wife or child is present – will
you not be on the road for their sake? Certainly you will sacrifice practically to any extent
for their sake. Young boys and girls are sacrificing even their lives for their love. But,
when God comes to the picture, all questions and practical difficulties come. Why? The
answer is very very simple and straight. You do not have the real love on God. But you
want to get all the benefits from the Lord here and after death. For that, you show all sorts
of arts of artificial love. Who asked you to love God? Did ever God ask you to love him?
He has created equal facilities to all the souls including atheists. He has created a cycle of
deeds (karma chakra), which is the legal constitution and according to it, you will receive
the results.
He has not done any injustice to you for not loving Him. Sometimes, I hear some people
telling, “I have no time to think of God. I do not bother about God.” Well. God is also not
bothered about you. If you care a pin for God, He will not care even a millionth pin for
you, because in His eyes, this entire earth is not equal even to a pin-tip. It is you, who is
approaching God every time for some favor. It is you, who is bothering Him always to
break the legal way and protect you. Yes. He does it. The kindest Lord pays for your sins
through human form and protects you and the justice simultaneously. For doing that, He
wants your pure and real love. You may plead that you do not have that much pure and
real love.

No. No. No. You have it, which is shown on your children. Give at least a drop of it,
proving that God is really to be loved, though not equal to your great child. At least stop
this hypocritical love and stop asking Him for any favor. Follow the path of justice and
still if you can love Him without aspiring any favor from Him; that is real love or
devotion. You love your child, even if it beats you. Don’t say it is impossible. It is
impossible only in the case of others including God. First you start loving and serving the
people who are other than your family, to get training in that path. At least do not grab the
money of other people by cheating. Business is also a licensed way of cheating others.
Even if you are not loving and serving others, do not grab their hard earned money by
corruption. First, you stop harming others. Then, you start loving others. Then, you start
serving others. Now you are trained well and is ready to love and serve God like
Saktuprastha.

288. Money is the root knot

It catches your throat. Therefore the Veda says “Dhanena tyagenaike …” which means
that money alone decides your love on God. Real love can be expressed only by money
and work (karma sanyasa and karma phala tyaga). Without these two, other ways are only
hypocritic. If these two also exist, then, other ways get life. Otherwise, they are dead
items only. ‘Guna’ is theory. ‘Karma’ is practice. Theory should lead to practice.
Otherwise, mere theory is only hypocrisy. The four castes in spiritual path are decided by
theory and practice only (guna karma vibhagasah – the Gita). Saktuprastha is the real
Brahmana (or Brahma Jnani), who sacrificed all the fruit of his work for God. Dharma
raja is kshatriya, who could only do partial sacrifice of wealth in doing Asvamedha.
Dhritarastra is Vysya, who has good theory but zero in practice. He recognized the Lord
Krishna but did not give even five villages, even though the Lord is asking. He has full
power to give but escaped nicely by pleading his false incapability in going against his
son.

Duryodhana is a sudra, who did not even recognise the Lord and was greedy for wealth
of even his own brothers. Thus caste is not by birth, but it is by the qualities and practice
(guna karma). Swami Dayananda, who is also human incarnation preached about this
valuable concept. Every great preacher is incarnation of God because the Gita says the
same (Yadyat vibhutimat…).

289. Can we use all the Religions in our spiritual effort?

Think that you are the universal human being and not a Hindu or a Christian or a Muslim.
You belong to all the Religions, which are the same syllabus in different languages. The
same Lord appeared in different forms. Every Religion has a Gem. Use all the Gems in
your spiritual life. Are you not using the Muslim petrol, scientific technology of
Christians and analytical brain of Hindus in your materialistic life? Similarly you can use
the merit of each Religion. Suppose paddy is grown in one part, pulses are grown in
another part and vegetables are grown in some other part of the country. The department
of civil supplies is moving rice, pulses and vegetables through out the country so that
every person in the country has rice, pulses and vegetable curry in his meal plate. Such a
meal only can give the full satisfaction to every body. Muslims are famous in regularity,
discipline and firmness in the faith of the Lord. Even if it is not a holiday and even if it is
working time and even in the journey they will pray the Lord. Hindus worship the Lord
in the leisure time and Christians worship the Lord on a holiday. Similarly the love of
Christians is a Gem. They love even their enemies and give funds to the spiritual centers
of other Religions also. In Hindus tolerance is the Gem. They worship different forms of
the same Lord. Therefore have firm faith and discipline like a Muslim. Show love even to
your enemies like a Christian. Worship the different forms of the same Lord of all the
Religions in the same manner like a Hindu. All these merits are like rivers merging in the
ocean of spiritualism. Be a sea fish. Don’t be a stagnant river fish. All the Religions in the
advanced stage mix and become one and the same in the spiritual ocean.

290. Formal Scriptural study and discovery of self

Is formal scriptural study essential for discovering the Self? What is the role of puja,
mediation etc? I would like to think that neither is as important as the other but I'm
hesitant to contradict those who have devoted their life to this. Please enlighten me.

------------------------------------

The study of Scriptures is like studying a subject through correspondence course. The
Scriptures contain the total truth. But the correct way of interpretation is very important.
Several people who are over intelligent have misinterpreted the Scriptures in their own
way to suit to their convenience. These people do not want to make any effort to change
themselves to become eligible for the divine fruit. They are unable to fly to the sky from
the earth. Instead, they wish the divine fruit from the sky should come to the earth and
should fall in their hands straightly. Everybody aspires the highest fruit through the
easiest way.

The easiest way is the path of knowledge, which does not require any sacrifice. The
highest fruit is to become the very Lord right now from this moment onwards. They like
the preacher to say that they should just come out of their house to receive a heap of
infinite treasure lying down before the doors. Anybody will be happiest to receive the
news that, he has become eligible to join the post of district collector in whatever stage of
his study to the I.A.S. Examination(I.A.S. is a prestigeous administrative post in India),
he is present. The post is offered to the fresh student who just joined the I.A.S. Course
and also to the student who passed the I.A.S. Examination. Both are equally eligible now
itself to join the same post. If the preacher says that already both have joined the post and
that they have forgotten this truth, now all the effort is only to recognize that they are the
district collectors.

This gives the idea that there is no need of any future effort. This is the mis-interpreted
philosophy of monoism (Advaita) of Sankara. Every body is very much attracted to this
path. The influence of this path is so much that no body is coming out of this illusion. It
is so sweet that they are unable to leave this state. The basic mis-concept is to think that
the self is the super-self. Self is any living being in this world. Super self is the Lord.
They just find one common point i.e., the pure awareness (Chit) exists in both. The Prime
Minister and his peon have several common points like pure awareness, similar form of
external human body etc. Both eat and sleep similarly. Both are married and both have
children. Because of these common points can you treat the Prime Minister and His peon
as one and the same? Based on one common point i.e., pure awareness, how can you say
that self is super-self?

Veda says that by the order of the Lord, the Sun is shining. In summer due to sunstroke a
human being is killed. Let the Advaita scholar stand against the sunstroke and order the
Sun not to kill him. When the disciples of Sankara thought that they are also the Lord,
Sankara swallowed the molten lead and asked the disciples to do the same. Then they fell
on the feet of Sankara. Then Sankara told "Shivah Kevaloham", which means that only
He is Shiva. The word Kevala (only) is important here. Sankara while taking bath in the
ocean at Puri told "Oh! Lord! Though the qualitative identity is in between us, the
quantitative difference exists. The water is common in both the sea and the wave like the
pure awareness in the soul and super soul. But the quantitative difference exists and one
should not forget that the entire wave is in the sea but the entire sea is not in the wave".
This is stated as a message for the sake of ordinary soul. These Advaita Scholars filter all
the differentiating points and finally get the common point filtered down into the beaker
as the filtrate. The differentiating points are the residue on the filter paper and the filtered
common point is in the downward beaker. They see only the beaker but not the filter
paper. Therefore, the whole spiritual path is twisted and confused almost all the human
beings. Seeing this situation the same Sankara came as Ramanuja and Madhva and
clearly differentiated the super self from the self. Some devotees have come out of this
illusion but several people are still lingering there only due to their unreasonable and
unimaginable ambition for the fruit. Unless this basic concept is realized, all the stages of
the spiritual effort cannot be healthy. The poison injected in the foundation has spread all
over the upstairs of the construction. Your question has already assumed that self is super
self. You have no doubt about that basic concept. Nobody likes to touch that basic
concept. If that basic concept is analysed the entire castle of their ambition will collapse.
They cannot tolerate to loose the highest fruit, which was captured by them by the easiest
way of self-realization. Now for such self-realization, you are asking whether the
meditation or the study of scriptures is the path. When the goal itself is absent what is the
use of the path? It is something like asking whether one should pass eighth standard or
ninth standard to become the district collector. Neither of these two standards can give
you the post. By passing those two standards one can get the post of a peon. One has to
pass the I.A.S. Examination for which he is eligible after passing degree examination,
which is far from both those standards. These advaita scholars argue that the peon is the
collector. They do not accept the existence of any higher post other than the peon. The
reason for this basic misunderstanding is the word "Brahman".

As per Sanskrit grammar this word comes from the root "Bruhi-Vruddhau", which means
that the root meaning of this word is greatness. Anything that is great can be called as
Brahman. The soul is the most precious and greatest item of the creation and is called as
Para Prakruti, which means the greatest of all the created items. The soul is included as a
part of the creation (Prakruti) and is called as Para Prakruti as said in Gita (Prakritim
Viddhi me paraam….). It is not Creator. If it is Creator it cannot be called as Prakruti. It is
only the modification of food during evolution as said in Veda (Annat Purushah…). The
same inert energy called as electro magnetic radiation working through a special
unknown technology is life. The materials of the technology are known and the working
inert energy is also known. But the special technology in which it works is not known
and therefore, life energy is not synthesized so far. Only God knows that technology.
When sage Gautama cursed Ahalya, she became a stone. Now where is the soul and its
subtle body of Ahalya? Is it not in the stone? If it is not in the stone there is no suffering
to the soul through its subtle body. When the foot of Rama touched it, it is converted into
the woman called Ahalya. This clearly shows the inter conversion of life energy into inert
energy and vice-versa. When Brahma stole the cows and cowboys for one year, Lord
Krishna created the same cows and cowboys again. If the soul is eternal it cannot be
created again. This again proves that the soul is only a part of the creation and not the
eternal Creator. The soul is said to be eternal with reference to this temporary body. Thus
it is only relatively more permanent as said in Gita (Na Hanyate Hanyamane Sareere). If
one does not understand the theory of relativity the verses in the second chapter in Gita
cannot be realized. The soul is greater than the great body but the super soul is greater
than the greater soul. Therefore, the soul is not greatest. But as far as the items of Prakruti
or Creation are concerned soul is the greatest and this does not mean that the soul is the
super soul. The super soul is beyond the creation and is not an item of the creation.
Therefore, the super soul does not come into the boundaries of Creation or Prakruti. In
this sense the greatest soul within the boundaries of creation is called as Brahman. The
Scripture Veda is also called as Brahman because it is greatest among all the scriptures.
This is stated in Gita (Brahmaakshara Samudbhavam).

Therefore, any greatest item in a specific category can be called as Brahman. There is
another path of psychological treatment of the teacher. It is to encourage the student by
attaching the highest goal to every step he climbs. To make the student climb one more
step, the teacher says that if he climbs one more step the final roof is achieved. In this
way the encouragement is given to the devotee by saying that the super self is achieved if
the self is achieved. In fact the achievement of self is necessary to achieve the super self.
If one attains his own self, he attains perfect peace. If he identifies himself to be the soul,
which is the pure awareness, he is detached from the gross body and the inner subtle
body. By such detachment all the worldly bonds disappear and all the mental worries
vanish. By this one attains the peace. Peace is a pre-requisite for attaining the super self.
Thus attainment of self is very important, which is the middle station of the journey.

When you are mental worried and dragged by these worldly bonds, how can you
concentrate and develop the single bond on God? Therefore, self-realization is the basis
for reaching the super self. But one should not stop at the self-realization because
attainment of self is not attainment of super self. One is traveling from Vijayawada to
Mumbai. The middle station is Hyderabad. One should reach Hyderabad before reaching
Mumbai. But one should not get down at Hyderabad thinking that it is Mumbai.

Therefore, to attain the self and thereby to attain the peace as a pre-requisite qualification
for attaining the super self, both the study of scriptures as well as meditation are
important. To know the truth the scripture must be studied. But only the Sadguru must
explain the scripture. ‘Veda, the scripture has to be studied from a Guru only and should
not be read directly from book’. Even this statement is mis-understood. People
misinterpret that the recitation of Veda should be done only with the help of the Guru or
Preacher. For recitation no teacher is required. Any student can by-heart any book by self-
reading and no teacher is required for that. The correct interpretation of this statement is
that Veda should be explained through a Sadguru (True Preacher) only. The teacher is
required for the explanation and interpretation and not for the recitation. Thus, the study
of the scripture must be done only with the help of Sadguru and not the Guru who is an
ordinary human being only. Then meditation means memorizing the concept that you are
the self or soul or casual body and detaching yourself from the gross and subtle bodies.
Both are required to fix you in the soul permanently. Pooja is the worship of a model
only, which is related to the preliminary low cadre devotees as said "Pratimaahyalpa
Buddhinaam". Thus both the study of Scripture with the help of Sadguru and meditation
are important to attain the middle station. Both these are also the indirect means to attain
the super self because unless the peace is attained by self-realization, one cannot travel
further to attain and please the super self or the Lord.

People are clinging to the fruit of the path of Sankara due to over ambition, which can be
obtained by spending a little time and energy in study of the scripture. It is just like the
recent computer scam given by the Abidjan city. They ask you to spend a little to release
the box and offer crores of rupees as the fruit of your little effort. Several innocent people
were trapped and even flew to Abidjan to collect the box. But there is no trace of the box.
Even Swami (Myself) played with one scam and made a long correspondence trying to
change their attitude. Atheists, who believe only the gross materialistic world, surrounded
Sankara. He tried to lead them from gross state to subtle state by introducing the subtle
soul. The journey from gross state to subtle state can be a pre-rehearsal for the journey
from imaginable creation to unimaginable God. He stressed on the detachment from the
body and attachment to the self. This gives a training to detach from the imaginable
world and to attach to the unimaginable God. In fact the super self or God is
unimaginable whereas the self or pure awareness is imaginable. Therefore, even
awareness cannot be the common point in super self and self. How can you say the
unimaginable God to possess the awareness? The awareness or life energy is imaginable
item of the creation. The Scholars have misunderstood that God has awareness because
God wished to create this universe. Since God wished God must be awareness. This logic
applies only to the items of creation and not to the Creator who is beyond creation. The
unimaginable God can wish even without being the awareness. He is above the laws of
Creation. Veda says ‘Apanipaado Javano Graheeta…), which means that He can run
without legs and He can catch without hands. Since God runs you say that God must have
legs based on the natural laws. But the super natural God does not require legs to run.
Similarly He can wish to create the world without Himself being the awareness. If this is
understood the super self is just beyond your imagination. The super self enters into one
of the items of the creation to give its experience to you. If the medium is human form, it
will be most convenient for the super self to preach you and receive your love and service
directly. The super-self present in the human form is Sadguru who will lead you from the
gross body and subtle body to the self and then finally to the super self, which is none-
else than Himself. Therefore, identifying and catching the feet of Sadguru is most
important than all these things mentioned by you.

The reason for Brahman to be stated as awareness is that, Brahman enters only a living
being and not an inert object. Ofcourse, the inert objects can be worshipped as models of
Brahman by the lower cadre. Such worship is called as Pooja. If you see the incarnations,
all of them were living beings only like fish, tortoise, pig etc. The living being can only
do certain action independently. For the sake of human beings Brahman enters the human
body because preaching and clarification of doubts is impossible if it is not a human
body. Even the energetic bodies of Brahman contain innermost soul and inner subtle
body. The energetic body is only the outer gross body. The subtle body is made of
qualities. If it is Brahma it is of Rajas quality, if it is Vishnu it is of Sattvam quality, if it is
Siva it is of Tamas quality and if it is Datta it is of three qualities. When Brahman
appeared as Yaksha to angles, it was Datta who tested them and talked to them. The inert
item is not independent and is always controlled by life. Therefore, Brahman never enters
any inert body, which is not self-controller. If Brahman is identified with any inert object,
Brahman has to be controlled by another living being. This is impossible because
Brahman is the controller of all the inert and living beings. Therefore, Veda says that
Brahman can never exist in a statute or a photo (Na tasya Pratima ….). But the inert
object can be kept as a representative of model of Brahman and can be worshipped. But
such worship is very much limited to cleaning and decorating the statute etc., only and
should not be extended to offering food, Dakshina (Money) etc. The priests and the
managers of temples are taking that food and Dakshina keeping the statue in front of you.
The priests and managers are not of the level of the Sadguru. Either they are enjoying or
spending the money improperly. Therefore, the worship of statue is not liked by realized
souls. But it should be respected because there is no other alternative except this for the
beginners. Therefore, whenever a soul or self (Atman) is referred, Atman means a human
being. In Sanskrit Atman means the human body. In fact even the soul is called as casual
body, which is the inner, most component of the human body. The human body consists
of the outer most gross body, the inner subtle body and the inner most casual body or
soul. Therefore, whenever the word Atman comes in the sense of the Lord, it means the
human body (Human being), which is charged and pervaded all over by the Lord. Only
such self is the super self or Brahman or the Lord. This should not be extrapolated to
every self or every human being. Every human being is only the human body, which is
composite of the three bodies. Veda says that the Lord is controller of all the selves
(Atmeswaram….).

If every self is Lord Himself, how can He be controller of the self? It means He controls
Himself. Therefore, the self-realization and attainment of self in the first of half of the
spiritual journey means realizing and attaining your own self and finally fixing you in the
self. But the word self in the second half of the journey means the human incarnation or
Sadguru and here the self-realization means the recognition of Sadguru and the self-
attainment here means catching hold of the feet of Sadguru. You should not sit at the end
of first half of the journey thinking that yourself is Sadguru. Therefore, it is better to
catch the Sadguru in the beginning itself so that you are well aware of the whole of
journey in the beginning itself. Of course, you can go to the middle station by your self
with the help of scripture and meditation. But there is a danger of your stagnation in the
middle station thinking that, that is the final station. Once you are caught up by this
Abidjan scam in the middle station, you will never go further, because the scam is so
sweet. The Advaita scholars are caught up by this scam even the beginning of the journey
itself. Therefore, no body can save them.

291. A spiritual aspirant and his day to day activities and interactions

The materialistic field (Pravrutti) consists of the day-to-day interactions. The spiritual
field (Nivrutti) consists of the interaction with the Lord. Both these fields are quite
opposite like darkness and light. Veda says the same (Duramete Vipareete Vishuchi). This
means that Pravrutti and Nivrutti are like North and South poles. They are opposite in the
direction. The goal of the Pravrutti is the happiness of this body and your family
members, fame, riches, etc. This goal is temporary and one has to struggle every time in
an atmosphere with lot of risk. The goal of Nivrutti is permanent and there is no struggle
and risk. The Pravrutti is like doing a job and getting salary every month. If you do not
work the salary is stopped. Nivrutti is like getting interest on the fixed deposit and you
work without any binding. The Lord is one and the same for both the fields and acts as
the controller for both. But the nature of Lord differs in these two fields. In the field of
Pravrutti the Lord is strict and follows the rules of justice. In the field of Nivrutti the Lord
is very kind and shows love in solving your problems even without your knowledge.
Now you want to bring the advantage of Nivrutti into Pravrutti. You want to have the
result of Nivrutti while keeping yourself in Pravrutti. People in the materialistic field pray
God to solve their problems related to this world.

The Lord has invented a way for this line also. He will solve your problems based on
your prayers. But He will postpone your evil results to the next birth or to the hell (if the
rebirth is not believed) with increased interest. He will draw the good results from the
future birth with decreased interest like a pre-matured deposit and hand over to you as
happiness.

You think that your evil result is cancelled and the good result is given to you without
doing the good deed. If it is done in that way the justice is insulted. Only a rearrangement
of the deeds in the wheel (Karma Chakra) is done. By this your future births become full
of difficulties and you will scold God in those births. However, if you are not bothered
about the future and is particular of the present only such rearrangements are done by the
Lord. In the case of some people the prayers are not answered because there is no
possibility of even such rearrangement. All the good deeds got exhausted and therefore
God keeps silent. You are unnecessarily attached to the enthusiasm in the materialistic
field, which consists of bonds with your body and your family members. These bonds are
neither before this birth nor will exist after this birth. They are temporary and therefore,
unreal.

All your anxiety and enthusiasm is for unreal bonds. This truth will be known if you do
the analysis through Vedanta, which is called as ‘Sadasat Viveka’ by Sankara, which
means the discrimination of reality from the false-hood. Thus the materialistic field has
strict and limited boundaries and you cannot cross the justice. There is no element of love
and kindness in its real sense. If you however get full detachment from this unreality and
attach yourself to the reality (God), you have entered the field of Nivrutti. In this field
you will have the only real bond with the real God. In such case the Lord crosses the
boundaries of justice and attains the nature of complete love and kindness. In this line
you are not aspiring for any happiness and your happiness lies only in the happiness of
the Lord. You are prepared to undergo any misery if that pleases the Lord. You will
realize that the sole aim in your manufacture itself is the entertainment of the Lord. In
that state the Lord also becomes your true reflection. He will behave in such a way to
maintain your happiness forever. For that, He will undergo all the misery, which is the
result of all your evil deeds. As you are prepared for the misery to please the Lord, the
Lord is prepared for the misery to please you.

In this field people think that the materialistic field is spoiled. It is utter foolishness. In
Pravrutti you have gained ten rupees. In Nivrutti you have gained one hundred and ten
rupees but lost the ten rupees in Pravrutti. Therefore, the loss in Pravrutti is very much
compensated in Nivrutti. You will find wonders in the materialistic field. All your day-to-
day interactions will be so perfect, which will amaze not only yourself but also the entire
world. It is a very far superior level.

You will be unable to tolerate the benefits of the materialistic field, which will fall on you
as mountains. His real devotee is neither insulted in this world nor in the upper world.
Your file in the hell is completely closed. Your route is entirely different and leads to the
permanent abode of God. The route of the pure materialistic person is towards hell and
heaven. Even from the heaven he has to return back into this world where the atmosphere
is risky again and you have to overcome the attraction from sin to do good social service.
The result of your social service is temporary heaven only. Both these roads are clearly
different as said in Gita (Sukla Krishna Gathee….).
At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

292. Jesus state during cruxification

When you are isolated from your subtle body, which is made of three qualities and
feelings, you are also isolated from the gross body. Then you are identified with your
causal body (Atman), which is pure awareness and in such stage you are just a spectator
of both the subtle and gross bodies. The gross body of Lord Jesus was crucified and the
subtle body is undergoing all the torture and agony. He was confined to His causal body
and was watching both the crucification of gross body and the agony of the subtle body.
During the process of crucification the reaction and statement of subtle body is in one
line and the reaction and statement of the causal body is in another line. Even before
crucification one can note the mixed feelings and statements of both the bodies.

Jesus prayed God to avoid the crucification if possible and His body was vibrating when
He was imagining the future crucification. All this belongs to the subtle body. Finally He
said that let the crucification take place if it was the will of God. This belongs to the
causal body. On the cross He was asking God “ Why have you left me? ” and this belongs
to subtle body. When He said “ I am surrendering myself to your hand ”, this belongs to
causal body. Unless the critical, logical and analytical discrimination exists, one will get
confused and will give wrong interpretations on these mutually contradicting feelings and
statements. Thus, you can find Jesus as a perfect “Atma Yogi” and He stands as a
successful practical follower of the spiritual knowledge of Sankara.

Both Sankara and Jesus are the knowledge- suns of East and West. Both stand opposite to
each other on the end points of the diameter of the earth as the single knowledge sun
rising in diagonally opposite times.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

293. Majority/Minority in Spirituality

People are always under the illusion of majority. People think that whatever is done by
the majority is always good. They expect their son to study, earn a job, marry and have
children. The sons of majority are doing like this. Therefore, people think that this is the
good path. Therefore, they expect their sons also to follow the same good path. If any son
tries to deviate from this path the parents are worried. Of-course the deviation from this
path may be towards positive or negative side. If one is leaving this earth, he may fly to
the sky or may fall into the downward pit called ‘Patala’. Both are deviations. Similarly,
if the son deviates from this normal path and becomes a lazy fellow and is trapped by bad
habits the deviation is negative.

In such case the son should be forced to the normal path. He should be brought to the
ground from the pit. But if the son deviates from the normal path and is turned towards
God by becoming a monk, the parents should encourage and appreciate. If some body is
leaving the ground and is flying to the sky, it should be appreciated. Therefore, the
negative deviation should be condemned and the positive deviation should be
appreciated. The Scriptures say that if a couple is not having a son, they will go to the
hell called ‘Put’ (Punnama Naraka). Does this mean that Sankara, Rama Krishna
Parahamsa etc., who did not have sons have gone to the hell? Does this mean the demons
who had sons have not gone to the hell? This statement of the scripture has to be
understood with reference to the negative deviation. This means that one should marry
and get a son by leading a disciplined regular family life and one should not be unmarried
and should not be trapped by bad habits like moving with prostitutes. Thus, with
reference to this negative deviation only the normal path is appreciated. This means that
you should be on the ground and should not fall into the pit.

This does not mean that you should be on the ground and should not fly to the sky. This is
not with reference to the positive deviation. Therefore, the production of a son is
appreciated with reference to a debatcherous life. But it should not be appreciated with
reference to the life of a monk. Earning one rupee is appreciated with reference to the
loss of money. But it need be appreciated with reference to earning 100 rupees. The
concept of majority is capturing the minds of even spiritual people. The spiritual preacher
is encouraged to deliver the knowledge if a large gathering appears. When Krishna
preached Gita there were lakhs of soldiers there.

But He preached Gita only to Arjuna because he was the only deserving devotee. If any
spiritual preacher is in the place of Krishna, he would have requested for a mike so that
he can preach Gita to all the people in the war!! Datta is surrounded only by very few
deserving disciples like Pingala Naga, Alarka, Parasurama, Skanda etc., Sankara
preached the commentary only to the four deserving disciples. A Professor is surrounded
by a very few research scholars engaged in discussions. If you visit a schoolteacher he is
surrounded by a hundred children who are not listening anything.

At the Lotus Feet of His Holiness, Sri Dattaswami

294. God is He

From the beginning the wife is in the control of the husband. Veda says that the Lord is
‘Purusha’ (male). His power called as Maya is treated as His wife. Veda says this (Atha
Pursushohavai, Purushayevedam, Paraasya Sakthihi, Indro Mayaabhih). The modification
of Maya is the world. The Jeevas (souls) are a part of the world. Therefore Jeevas are also
modification of Maya. Such Jeevas are the servants of the Lord. This world and Maya is
called ‘Bharya’ (wife) that means who is maintained. The Lord is called as ‘Bhartha’ that
means the maintainer. Among the Jeevas the males are also treated as the wives of the
Lord and as ladies only, as said in Veda (Striyah Sateeh Pumsa Ahuh).

The male sages have become the female Gopikas. This world is called ‘Prakruti’ which is
sub-divided into 1) Para Prakruti which is the life or consciousness or awareness 2) Apara
Prakruti which is inert matter. Prakruti is only the modification of Maya. Maya is
associated with the Lord. Prakruti is also called as Maya because there is no difference
between Maya and its modification. This is told in Gita (Maayaam tu Prakrutim). The
Lord and the world are mentioned as Purusha and Prakruti both stand as husband and
wife (Prakrutim Purusham Chaiva). When the Lord comes as Purusha in human form,
His devotees come as the servants of the Lord to participate in His work. Due to such
souls the Lord is entertained. If you take the Lord as the universal Eeswara, then all the
souls in this world are His servants to entertain Him.

The Lord alone cannot enjoy as said in Veda (Ekaaki Naramate). His power Maya is
treated as His wife who is modified into the world to entertain Him. This Maya is
awareness and is called as Para Sakthi. Maya is in the form of several wishes. This Maya
is converted into the inert five elements called as Apara Prakruti. This Maya (Para Sakthi)
entered some inert bodies in this world. Such Maya, which is present in any inert body is
called as Para Prakruti. The inert body is Apara prakruti. Any living being is the
combination of Para Prakruti and Apara Prakruti. The Lord did not enter any living being
and therefore any living being is not the Lord. The Lord enters a particular living body
present in the womb and when such living being is born, that is said to be the incarnation.
Lord Krishna at the center is such incarnation and the Gopikas around are the living
beings. Even Arjuna is a living being. Whenever the word Prakruti comes, it means both
Para Prakruti and Apara Prakruti which are the two sub divisions. In Gita the Lord said
“Prakrutim Svaam” which means that the Lord enters Prakruti.

Therefore the Lord entered both Para Prakruti and Apara Prakruti because the word
Prakruti means both the sub-divisions. The Lord also said “Aatma Mayayaa”. This means
the Lord enters the Prakruti with His Maya. Veda says the same (Tadevaanu Praavisat). In
this context Veda says “Sa Idam Sarva Masrujata Tat Srushtva” which means that the
Lord created this world and entered this world. The Lord enters a living body present in
the womb. The living body consists of the five inert elements called Apara Prakruthi and
also life called Para Prakruti. Therefore the living body is called as Prakruti. When Maya
(Para Sakthi) enters a non-living body, that body becomes a living being. Therefore when
the Lord enters the Prakruti it means that the Lord enters a living body only which is the
combination of both Para Prakruti and Apara Prakruti.

Both these put together is called Prakruti. This means the Lord will never enter only
Apara Prakruti, which is the inert body. Veda says this (Natasya Pratima Asthi). When the
Lord enters Prakruti, such living being is called as the human incarnation. The Siva Linga
indicates the wave nature of life energy (Para Prakruti). The statue of Lord Vishnu
indicates the matter, which is Apara Prakruti. Matter and energy are inter convertible as
per science. That means Siva and Vishnu are inter convertible forms as said “Sivaya
Vishnu Rupaaya”. Brahma is the Lord who enters both the Siva and Vishnu who
represent the life energy and the inert body. Then it becomes the human incarnation,
which is given to the world called as ‘Datta’. This is the meaning of the three heads of
Datta.

Therefore the statue of the Lord indicates the Purusha. The statue of the female indicates
His power Maya, which is modified as Prakruti (world). The power and the world,
entertain the Lord like a wife entertaining her husband. The male and female difference in
the two statues is not the actual difference of male and female in the world. All the living
beings including the inert world containing rivers, mountains etc., along with the power
Maya is represented by the female statue. All the jeevas are Prakruti and therefore female
only. Due to this reason Meera asked Tulasi Das whether there is any male in the souls.
Therefore the female statue indicates the group of servants who entertain the Lord in
Human form and the male statue indicates the Lord.

Maya is like the ocean on which the Lord is lying. A little of this water is modified into
static ice vessels. Some of the vessels are again filled with the water of the sea. Such
vessels filled with water are the living beings. The other ice vessels, which are not filled
with water are just the mountains, rivers etc., The water present in the ocean is Maya or
Para Sakthi. The same water that exists in the ice vessels as little quantities is called as
Para Prakruti . First a little seawater is modified into ice vessels. Similarly a little of
Maya (Para Sakti) is modified into the inert five elements. You can consider the seawater
as dynamic and the inert five elements as static ice. But the dynamism and static nature
are not the difference between life and inert matter because even the inert light is
dynamic. Therefore you cannot say that the dynamic water is life and the static ice is the
inert matter.

Of course science says that the inert static matter is the condensed form of the inert
dynamic energy. Therefore here the inert matter is produced from inert energy. But how
the inert energy like light, heat etc., is produced from the life energy (Para Sakti)? The
life energy is Maya and the inert energy is the Apara Prakruti. How this Apara Prakruti
resulted from Maya (Para Sakthi)? This is the mystery of the creation of the Universe.
Due to this mystery only this power is called Maya. The word Maya means wonderful.
From the earth plants are produced as said in Veda (Pruthivya Oshatha yah). Here the
plant consists of inert matter. Therefore into this inert matter (Apara Prakruti), Maya
entered and the plant becomes a living being. The life energy is not doing a particular
work, which is called as mind.

Mind is the work of the awareness and that work is desires. In the plant the awareness
does not do this work and therefore plants do not have mind. But in animals, birds etc.,
the awareness started doing this special work and therefore they possess mind. In human
beings apart from mind, the awareness started doing another special work called decision
and such work is called as intelligence or buddhi. Therefore the same life energy is
present in plant or animal or a human being. They differ only by the special works of the
awareness. The male statue and the female statue in the temple are teaching you this
wonderful divine knowledge.

Those statues are made of Apara Prakruti and not the Lord and Maya; Lord and Maya
have not entered those statues as said in Veda (Nedam Tat, Neti Neti, Natasya Pratima).
They are only the instruments of the knowledge and the vision of such statues can give
you divine experience and bliss. You have read this knowledge present on the paper. The
paper and the printed sentences are only instruments of knowledge and can give you
vision and bliss of knowledge. This does not mean that the paper and the sentences are
the divine Lord. The divine Lord is also not present in this paper and sentences. Unless
you learn the divine knowledge from this paper and printed sentences, this paper and the
sentences are a waste. Similarly if you do not understand the divine knowledge
represented by the statues, the statues are a waste for you.

295. Salvation

The liberated soul, who came down in a role to this earth along with the Lord to enjoy
this world-drama by direct participation invites both happiness and misery
simultaneously like sweet and hot dishes in the meals. Anything bores if it is continuous.
Entertainment does not bore even if it is continuous. But entertainment through
continuous happiness or continuous misery bores. A picture either with continuous scenes
of happiness or with continuous scenes of misery bores and the entertainment also bores.
Entertainment should be same as a product but the sources of entertainment should
change. You cannot entertain yourself with continuous sweet dishes or continuous hot
dishes. Such continuous entertainment is called Bliss or Ananda. The word Ananda
means continuous happiness (Aa samantat Nandayati Iti). If the happiness is a product, it
is continuous. If it is the source it is discontinuous. Therefore, you can be continuously
happy, if your happiness is the product of alternating misery and happiness. You are
happy, when you get happiness. But you should be happy when you get the misery also.
You must enjoy both sweet and hot. You must be happy to praise and abuse, profit and
loss, life and death, sincerity and cheating etc. This world is already arranged with these
alternating sweet and hot items. If you can enjoy both, you are always happy during your
life and after death. This is the state of God and is also the state of a liberated soul, who
accompanies the Lord to this world. The king visited the cinema along with his family.
All the family members including the king enjoy both the happy scenes and tragic scenes.
This is equality of the liberated soul with the God in the cinema hall. When the cinema is
over, king is king and servant is servant.

The spiritual journey is to transform yourself from ignorant soul to realized soul and
finally to become the liberated soul which is called as the complete salvation. You have to
be dear and near to God to become a liberated soul. This transformation is possible by
His grace only. His grace comes only when you are in true path. You can go in the true
path if you get the true knowledge from Him only. This is the divine cycle. The true path
is selfless service through words, mind, intelligence and work and fruit of work. Such
five-fold service is rendered by you to your body and your family members. An ignorant
soul is controlled by ignorance, which is real. A realized soul has neither ignorance nor
the grace of God. This middle stage comes because, in this stage, the soul serves the Lord
through words, mind and intelligence but not through work and fruit of work. The service
is theoretical but not practical. In this stage, the coverage of ignorance (Avaranam) is
removed but the practical effect (Vikshepa) is not removed. He realizes the Truth but is
unable to practice it. In the final stage God’s grace dawns on him and the ignorance is
removed theoretically and practically. The ignorance may exist in this stage also as a
helper for the full entertainment. Such ignorance may appear real from the view of
liberated soul also, but it will be removed by God whenever the scheduled duration ends.
Such real ignorance is imposed by God also on Himself, which goes after the fixed
schedule ends.

296. Ignorance ,Maya & God

Maya is not ignorance, though it is used in that sense, if you analyze its root meaning. It
is the unimaginability, which means that the ignorance here can never be removed. God
can never be understood and so the ignorance about God is Maya. Avidya means the
ignorance that can be removed. Ignorance of physics can be removed by special effort.
Avidya relates to the self. By effort the self-ignorance can be removed. But the ignorance
of God is Maya, which can never be removed by any effort as God is unimaginable. The
Gita says that He can never be understood (Man…). The Veda says that the soul can be
understood by sharp analysis (Drusyate tu…). Liberation comes by self-realization,
which gives peace but not bliss.

(Samah karanam…the Gita) (Eshahyeva Anandayati… the Veda). Peace is zero and bliss
is plus. Any one of these two can remove the misery, which is minus. But there is easy
tendency for the zero to become minus. Therefore, the self-analysis achieved by your
logical ladder can drop to misery (Savikalpa Samadhi). But if the same self-realization is
granted by the Lord, it is eternal (Nirvikalpa). Shankara told that the grace of the Lord
can alone bring the real self-realization (Esvaraanugrahaadeva…). Such grace of Lord
comes by devotion, which is generated and strengthened by knowledge and which can be
proved only in terms of practical service as seen in the case of your family. Shankara
gives the top importance to devotion (Bhaktireva…). The Gita also says that God is
achieved only by devotion (Bhaktyaatvananyayaa…).

The Gita also says that the devotion is proved by selfless service to God, which is called
as Nishkama karma yoga.

298. Free Will or Will of God

If everything is according to the will of the Lord, who is the overall controller, there is no
independence for any human being in this world. In such case the human being should
not receive the fruits of its actions. How do you justify this?

Ans) The Lord is controlling all the souls as per Veda “Aatmeshwaram”, which means
that all the souls are ruled by the Lord. Gita also says the same “Bhuthanaam Eeswarah”.
But this does not mean that there is no independence for the soul. When the king rules the
kingdom, all the people in that kingdom are independent in their activities, but they are
within the rules of the king. Thus a short span of independence in the human life exists
under the control and supervision of the Lord. A cat caught a rat by its jaws. It leaves the
rat after a bite for a short span of time. In that span the rat gets independence and runs in
any side as it likes. But the cat is watching the rat and catches it again whenever the rat is
out of the limits of the supervision. Similarly the Lord called “Kaala” (death) catches a
human being and bites. The bite is the illness of the human being. The repeated diseases
are the repeated bites of the ‘Kaala” or the Lord. During the bite the rat looses completely
its independence. Similarly any human being, which is attacked by the disease becomes a
patient and looses its independence completely. The cat plays with the rat for sometime
like this and finally swallows the rat. Similarly, the human being is swallowed by the
Lord at the end. The whole creation itself is like a rat for the cat-like Lord, which is told
in Brahmasutra “Atta Charaachara Grahanaat”. Thus the short span of independence of
human beings under the supervision of the overall controlling Lord, creates the full game
and entertainment for the Lord. The entertainment is the basic reason of the creation by
the Lord as said in Veda (Ekaaki Na Ramate) and as said in Brahmasutra (Lokavattu).
Within the limits of the supervision of the cat, the rat will receive the result of the
direction in which it runs. In one direction there may be fire and the rat may receive the
heat. In another direction there may be cold water and the rat will receive the coolness in
that direction. The rat is independent to receive the result of the direction and has full
independence to go in any direction. The final death of the rat shows that the rat is under
the control of the cat during its choice of direction also, which is not interfered by the cat.
Similarly the human life is with full of independence but the final end proves that the
independence is under the control of the Lord. Yet, since there was no interference of the
Lord during the human life, the human being receives the results according to its actions.
Thus the “whole game is perfectly justified in any angle”.

299. The inner meaning of the word 'Karma'

The Gita says that the meaning of the word Karma has very deep sense (Gahanaa
Karmano Gatih). This world is called as creation. Creation means work like explanation
etc. Karma means work. Therefore this world is a form of work only. Work is a form of
energy. Energy is dynamism or action or work. Matter is energy. Heat, sound etc. are
forms of energy. Therefore the world which consists of space, matter, light, heat,
awareness etc. is essentially energy or work only. Space is a form of energy. Awareness is
also a form of energy. Therefore all this creation is work only. Work needs the worker.
The worker is God. God is the creator and creation is His work. This entire world is said
to be the dance (work) of Shiva. This entire world is just a game (work) of God.

Therefore you should realize that any part of this creation is work or dance or game of
God. The working material (matter) is also a form of His work only. The forces in this
creation are again His works only. Thus you should realize that every part of His creation
is the work of God and thus we should constantly remember God. When you see an
object, the object is His work. The process of seeing is His work. The subject (yourself),
who is also an object for others, is also work of God. If you analyse yourself, you can
realize that you are entirely His work only. The matter of your body, working forces like
heat, circulation force of blood etc. are also His works. Awareness is His work. The basic
form of your awareness which is energy is also His work only. Knowledge is the work of
intelligence. Devotion is the work of mind. Service is the work of your body. Sacrifice
which is a process of leaving something is also a work.

Therefore whatever you understand is work and understanding itself is work. The word
Karma is frequently repeated in the Gita. There is nothing like static condition. Even in a
static stone, the molecules, atoms and subatomic particles are rotating, vibrating and
spinning indicating essentially the work only. The Gita says that work should be found in
static state (Akarmanichayah). The Gita also says that you should find no work in the
work (karmanya karma yah pasyet). What does this mean? This means, you should not
think that the work is the work of itself. You should find the worker who is doing the
work. You should not think that the work is going on by itself. The work is done by
somebody.

300. Inevitability of Law of Karma

Shri Nikhil (Florida, USA) said that a man can lose the information stored in the brain by
a head injury or in a nuclear explosion. A nuclear blast should be capable of destroying
any information stored in the form of matter or pulses of energy. If the information can be
lost, then the impression of deeds of a person (Vasanas) which are also stored in the inert
energy or matter would also be lost. In that case, the Law of Karma would be defeated
because the vasanas are responsible for the action and fruits. This means the accident or
death in a nuclear explosion could give complete liberation to a person by erasing his file
of Karma. Then the spiritual effort would be a waste.

The answer for this is that you must distinguish between the three basic qualities
(Satvam, Rajas and Tamas) and the Vasanas, which are the elaborated branches of these
three fundamental qualities. No doubt the Vasanas (information) are erased by such
shocks. But the Vasanas are reduced into their sources, which are the three basic qualities
(Satvam, Rajas and Tamas).

When the Vasanas are erased, the intensity of the corresponding basic quality increases
and according to the intensity of that quality, the fruits are rendered. The three basic
qualities with specific intensities [relative proportions] constitute the code language,
which brings the fruits on decoding in heaven or hell. This point can be explained by a
small example. Two murderers are destroyed in a nuclear explosion. The detailed
information of their crimes is erased from the souls.

But the basic quality of the murderer, which is Rajas is increased in intensity according to
the proportion of Vasanas. Suppose the first criminal murdered ten good people. The
Rajas in him will be 10 to the power 10. Suppose the second criminal murdered six good
people. The intensity of his Rajas is 10 to the power 6. In the hell, Chitra Gupta [the
divine accountant of souls’ Karma] decodes this basic quality and accordingly the
punishment is ordered by Lord Yama. Thus, the detailed information of each case is not
required in the divine system.

Such information is only required by the court here, which cannot detect the basic
qualities. These three basic qualities are a more powerful form of energy and cannot be
erased by the nuclear energy. In the final destruction of the world also (Maha Pralaya),
these three qualities remain in the subtlest state, which bear the entire plan of the
universe. Such a state of the qualities is called as Avyaktam [unmanifest], which means
that the state is not expressed. During that time, all the individual souls remain along with
their own information in the condensed form of the three qualities. When the creation
restarts, the whole universe is expressed in the same design and the souls are also
expressed according to their previous proportions of the three qualities as said in the Veda
(Dhata Yathapurvam…)
