Fertiliser Project

Sohar International Urea & Chemical Industries The Sohar Fertiliser Project The Sohar Fertiliser Project is one of the largest industrial investments by any individual in the GCC. The fertiliser complex is in the new Sohar Industrial Port Area 250 kilometers to the North West of Muscat. The project comprises the following manufacturing facilities: An ammonia plant with a production capacity of 2,000 metric tons per day. Two granular urea plants with a combined capacity of 3,500 metric tons per day. The related utilities and offsite facilities. The plant use natural gas as a feedstock supplied through overland pipeline. For cooling and desalination purpose, the plants access the Seawater Intake/Outfall Facility in the Sohar Industrial Port area, itself a major facility constructed by the Suhail Bahwan Group. The product is exported from a 260 metre dedicated berth adjacent to the plant. With a production capacity of 3,500 metric tons per day of granular urea, this complex is one of the largest private sector Greenfield fertiliser projects in the world. The entire project management from inception to financial close and construction supervision is being carried out by SIUCIs own personnel, as is the subsequent operation and maintenance of the Plant.

Desalination & Power Plant Maintenance

Sogex (Oman) LLC Sogex Oman plays an important and highly responsible role in the lives of many of Omans population. Since 1976 we have held the contract for the complete operation, maintenance, commissioning and management of Ghubrah Power and Desalination plant which proves the total power requirement and water for Omans capital Muscat and the surrounding area. This high technology service is based on a policy of continuous preventive and corrective maintenance. Faults are discovered early to save major cost and repair. Round the clock testing in our own laboratory is carried out to maintain water quality for the steam generators and turbines, as well as the highest levels of drinking water purity.

Chemical Industry

Suhail Chemical Industries Established in 1999, Suhail Chemical Industries (SCI) is s state-of-art manufacturing facility for Sulphuric Acid at Sohar Industrial Area. SCI produces Technical Grade & Battery Grade Sulphuric Acid and Distilled Water. The company also trades in industrial chemicals such as Granular Sulphur, HCI, Laboratory Chemicals and Lab ware items. In addition to supplying to the local market, SCI exports their products to the GCC countries and Africa. Applying Double Conversion Double absorption (DCDA) technology, SCI ensures the best quality technical grade and battery grade Sulphuric Acid made in glass plant with negligible iron content. Stringent measures are taken to ensure that the entire operation is environment friendly. A state-of-the-art, well-quipped laboratory ensures quality and monitors the effluent contents, making the whole operation environment friendly. This is the first fully dedicated Sulphuric Acid plant of Oman producing acid of high purity.

Bilad (Oman) LLC Bilad Oman is a steel construction company that specialises in Design, Fabrication and Erection of steel structures. The Company was established in 1977 and is one of the largest steel fabricators in the Region. Corporate Business Development Office

The Corporate Business Development Office identifies and develops major business opportunities for the Group. In exploitation of these opportunities, the Group is willing to invest with international companies to form Joint Ventures or local companies with majority, equal, or minority shareholding. The Group is continuously pursuing the development of large upstream and down-stream projects in the Petro-Chemical, Water & Energy, Oil & Gas and Infrastructure sectors. Some of our major Joint Venture investments include: Bahwan Lamnalco LLC, a JV with Lamnalco, Sharjah (a Boskalis Associated Co) for Marine Terminal operations.

A 40% shareholding with Asea Brown Boveri, a Swedish-Swiss Group in the fields of Energy & Automation for work carried out in Oman. A 27.50% shareholding in TR Engineering LLC, a Tecnicas Reunidas Group Co. Spain, for engineering services to the Oil & Gas Industries in Oman and the Region. Arabian Caravans, Furnishing & Trading Co. LLC Bahwan Furnishing ACFT was established during the pioneering days of the Seventies. It initially specialised in portacabin construction to cope with the rapidly rising demand for offices and accommodation. As the market matured, ACFT extended its product range and services to cover the two broad divisions of Outfittings and Furniture Sales. Over the years, it has accumulated a wealth of experience in designing and executing projects for fitting out shops, showrooms, offices, warehouses, factories, academic institutions and homes. The service covers all stages from conceptual work to commissioning of interiors including a wide range of ceilings, wall finishes, floorings, furniture and soft furnishings. While its well equipped factory provides for these activities, its retailing operations are handled by Bahwan Furnishings. Its GRC decorative capability is visible in the facades of numerous prominent buildings. Oman United Insurance Co Since its inception, steady growth has brought it to a prominent position as once of the leading companies in the Oman Insurance Sector. Oman Ceramics Co SAOG Oman Ceramics Company is the sole manufacturer of vitreous china sanitary ware in the Sultanate. Its products are marketed under the Wave brand name throughout the countries of the Arabian Peninsula; approximately 15% of its production is exported to the United Kingdom. Annual capacity will reach 600,000 pieces by the end of 2007.
