Undergraduate Thesis

The particle interaction based trac ow model accounts for the lack of lane-based trac ow on Indian roads. In this model, the behavior of driver is not only inuenced by the speed and separation of the leading vehicle, but by all the vehicles around it Developed and implemented the model for a single lane one-directional ow on a mid-block section in Java language. Currently working on the calibration and validation of the model using eld data and comparing results with the outputs of a standard simulation model Achievement: Accepted for poster presentation at the Silver Jubilee International Conference on Transportation Planning and Implementation Methodologies for Developing Countries [TPMDC], 2012 Research Internship Modelling of Carbon Nanotube - PVA Nanocomposite Guide: Dr. Chandra Veer Singh [University of Toronto] May - July, 2012

Built a molecular model of Carbon Nanotube - Polyvinyl Alcohol Nanocomposite and developed its forceeld using molecular dynamics in GROMACS and VMD softwares. Also, validated the forceeld by comparing results of the estimated solubility of designed PVA model with the experimental solubility of PVA in water Concluded with an extensive literature study on the uses of CNT - PVA Nanocomposite in reinforcing applications and studied its thermo-mechanical properties

Course Projects

Sustainable Transportation in IIT Bombay Guide: Dr. P. Vedagiri [Indian Institute of Technology Bombay]

Feb - Mar, 2012

Studied existing modes of transportation in IIT Bombay and designed modications for existing footpaths, bicycle and bus facilities. These changes were aimed at minimizing the role of private transport and thus achieve sustainability in IIT Bombays public transit system Devised a bicycle pool facility using smart cards integrated with a dedicated sheltered bicycle lane and improved footpaths along the road network of IIT Bombay. Also, suggested methods to create an Intelligent Public Transportation System by proposing implementation of technologies such as GPS and electronic travel time synchronisation of institute buses Geometric Design of Pavements Guide: Dr. Gopal R Patil [Indian Institute of Technology Bombay] Feb - Mar, 2012

Implemented the geometric design of pavements using design standards of Indian Roads Congress (IRC) in HTML and Java. Created an application for design of cross-section elements of pavement using design speed, longitudinal friction, type of road surface and rainfall as input values Created an application for the design of vertical and horizontal alignment using input values of design speed, cross-slope of country, type of road and number of lanes Intelligent Transportation System [Seminar] Guide: Dr. Gopal R Patil [Indian Institute of Technology Bombay] Feb - Mar, 2012

Studied the existing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) such as advanced information and management system including ATIS, ATMS and APTS. Analysed the transportation pricing systems, vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure integration Evaluated the benets of ITS using safety, mobility and level of service parameters. Proposed solutions to integrate ITS with existing transportation system Modelling Dierentiation of Embryonic Cells using Structural Analysis Aug - Dec, 2011 Guide: Dr. Mandar M Inamdar [Indian Institute of Technology Bombay] Modelled the dierentiation phenomenon in embryonic cells in MATLAB. Correlated the physical properties of the cell system such as stiness of the embryonic and substrate cells to the mechanical properties of a spring system under loading for structural analysis of the system Predicted the potential diusion of a point stimulus on a chain of embryonic cells using the results from simulation model for varying parameters such as stiness and magnitude of stimulus force Relevant Courses Urban Transportation Systems Planning, Transportation Engineering [I & II], Trac Analysis and Design, Transportation Engineering Lab [I & II], Economics, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Thermal and Statistical Physics, Numerical Analysis VISSIM, Java, C/C++, MATLAB, GROMACS, Scilab, MS Oce, CAD
