Em Trn Minh c, lp E52, gi c bi lun th nht: It is no doubt that sport events are becoming more and more popular worldwide. This is followed by the high competition among countries to be a host, especially a major one. However, every coin has got two sides, and hosting a major sport competition is no exception. A country surely gets a lot of benefits when organizing a sport event. First of all, the economy will be stimulated to develop. Infrastructures and traffic network are upgraded to serve the competition. Local people get employment easily, domestic companies have big chances to increase the revenues by selling more products relating to the event. The government also gets more income tax from the investment of foreign corporations as well as tourism. Secondly, hosting a sport event will enhance the countrys position in the world. In fact, after the success of the 22nd Seagames, Viet Nam has gained confidence from international community and has continued to host other major sport competitions, such as Asian Indoor Games 3. Besides, these events help the country introduce its culture to the world. Since many spectators go on the visit of various places, they collect information about the culture and life style of people. Tourism can take advantage of this to rise. On the other hand, there are problems that the hosting country has to deal with. The government must balance the budget carefully in order not to get stuck in finance crisis because major sports events need huge investment on sport centers, traffic network, security . Furthermore, a large number of spectators coming to the country may cause unsafety and other social problems. Thay can also transmit various diseases like HIV AIDS to the civilians. In another aspect, after an event, the government faces the problems of using big sport buildings. Take Greece for example, after the Olympic Athens 2004, this country has to spend hundred million of dollars to maintain Olympic architectures, but they havent been much used since then. It is an enormous waste. From my own perspective, I do strongly support the idea that a country should host a major competition. The benefits gained from it are evident incontroversible. In addition, this is a good chance to demonstrate the prosperity of the country and the hospitality of the people. Based on the above discussion, we can see that hosting a major sport competition has both good and bad effect. A country should have effective strategies in order to organize successfully. Em V Minh Hng - E52 Along with the development of society, more and more problems are brought to our attention, one of which is that it is good or bad for a country to host a major sports competition. This essay will show the advantages and disadvantages of hosting international sporting events. When a country hosts a major sports competition, there are several obvious benefits for economic and community development. Firstly, the modern facilities are built such as stadiums, sport complex, infrastructure and hotels. This will make the country more attractive in the investors eyes. As you know, It is the fact that after the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the South Africa have been put on the map as an investment destination. Secondly, organizing international sports events is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of the nation, especially its tourism sector. This attracts a large number of tourists. For example, during the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Sydney hosted 362,000 domestic and 110,000 international visitors. Another positive aspect is bringing employment opportunities to citizens. Building stadium and hotels creates jobs for the local economy for up to 4 years before the event. In addition, many new shops will be opened to sell traditional products for tourists. However, there are also many people who strongly think that hosting a major sports competition causes many problems for the country. Major sports events such as the World Cup and the Olympics require infrastructure investment, which may not be used in the future. Moreover, the place where the event occurs takes place is a big target of terrorist. In recent years, the cost of organizing a sporting event has increased significantly because it includes not only the infrastructure investment but also the heightened security. Therefore, this can lead to higher taxes for the local population. From my own perspective, a country should take on the responsibility of hosting major sports competition if it has capacity to plan and organize successfully. To be awarded the honour of host nation of a major international sporting event can have a profound effect on a country such as changing the profile of the place and life of the people. A similar trend was also noticeable in the number of members participating in circuit training; it grew gradually before hitting the highest point of 300 for the time being. This was nearly double the figure for 1990. When it comes to swimming, there has been a slight fluctuation around 250 since 1990 to present. 2000 is the best year where the quantity of people participating in swimming peaked at 270. Meanwhile, the amount of members who entered racquet sports, dropped steeply during the period 1990-1995, from 280 to 200. For the present, it reaches the lowest point of just 140 members. 4. The diagram describes how a thermos flask keeps the liquid

like water, tea, milk cold or hot for a long time. The thermos has a cylindrical shape which is thirty to fourty centimeters long. It consists of three main parts that are top, body and bottom. The top is a plastic cup which is used for drinking the liquid inside the thermos flask. The body includes two layers: outer case and vacuum flask. The Outer case is made of either metal or plastic in order to protect vaccum flask from breaking. Conduction and radiation are the two processes by which heat can flow from one place to another. Therefore, the vacuum flask has the glass envelope covering by silver. Glass is used to make thermos flask become a bad conductor and heat is not lost due to radiation because of silver. When the top is sealed, liquid inside maintains its temperature because heat can not transfer through the vacuum. Conduction can only occur at the points where the top and the body meet and through an insulated support at the bottom. The glass is enveloped with silver so that less infrared radition can pass outside. The space between the two layers, the vacuum flask, is empty of any substance in order to prevent heat loss. The capability of keeping the water warm is also improved by a poor conductor near the vacuum flask. Moreover, there is a special part that supports insulation at the bottom of the thermos flask. The outer case is of either metal or plastic to protect the inner layer and makes the shape of the thermos flask. On the top of the outer case is a cap to cover up, which is usually made of plastic. Em o Qunh Trang E52 np Writing task 2 Many countries are experiencing serious problems with their environment, with pollution of their land, water and air. What are these problems and how might they be reduced? Along with the development of society, more and more problems are brought to our attention, one of which is the environmental pollution, namely contaminated land, water and air that a great number of countries are facing up with. It goes without saying that air pollution has been a problem throughout history. There are many evidences that can verify this .Factories, office buildings burn fossil fuels, which cause air pollution. The burning of oil and coal also contributes to smog. This is not only has bad effects on human's health, on the development of the ecosystem but also makes the global warming. In order to control these disastrous outcome, renewable forms of energy such as wind and solar energy are substituted for fossil fuels which will be exhausted within a relatively short time. Using public transportation is now widely encouraged in many countries .However,if you are really in need of a car,a fuel-efficent or a less-polluting one is a top choice. Many countries are boosting the industrialization and modernization processes, which leads to the rapid decline in quality of the land especially in industrial zones For the establishment of factories, industries and due to urbanization, trees are cut on a large number This leads to deforestation which has caused a rise in the soil erosion levels . What is also worth noticing is the unawareness of people that litter scattered on the street becoming a huge rubbish dump after a short time.To limit tremendous impacts,i do strongly support the idea that we had better use biodegradable objects such as cloth bags instead of plasticbags, use tree leaves to wrap things, vegetable matter to make animal food... Although everyone is aware of how indispensable water is, human is still adding hazardous substances into it.The wastewater and chemical

pollutants released from factories are linked with nearby rivers which are used to wash clothes, kitchen ultensils,to bath and to do other activities by residents. It might also be noted that Oil spilled from ships pollute oceans around the world. To protect clean source of water ,polluting factories should be charged high taxes or are supposed to compensate for inhabitants. All the evidence supports an unmistakable conclusion that human beings are changing the environment in all respects through their actions and by their habits .From the alarming reality,it is high time we took action seriously, or it could have adverse effects on our future generations. SUGGESTED BAND SCORE: 6.0 Em Nguyn Lan Phng, lp E52 gi bi Writing Task 2 With the advance of the human civilization, there are an increasing number of people who have raised doubts about whether environmental pollution has seriously affected our life. These, which influences our land, air and water, are some solemn problems putting pressure on the administration of many countries. What to do to minimize the rough effects of these difficulties is necessary to discuss. Firstly, the main issues on land pollution are about the reduction of the earth. The agricultural land are reducing speed with the exhausted soil, which are the result of the soil erosion of farmland; the immoderate deforestation of some people and building in rural areas for other purposes like industrial zones or other services. In one day, it will lead to a lack of open spaces in the future. One another problem is about rubbish, which causes the land. There are some solutions to work this out, such as trying to recycle materials such as glass and paper, or produce and use more biodegradable objects like carrier bags. The governments can possibly refuse to give planning permission for new buildings if they are unneeded. Secondly, the air effects have its own problems, particularly in the big cities. Polluted atmosphere, such as the acid rain, smog, toxic fumes, greenhouse gases which are caused by waste of industry and cars. These makes the ozon layer thinner and thinner as the time goes on. The solution is to buy fuel-efficient cars with less-polluting engines, or to use public transport more often. We can also plant more trees to fresh the air. Finally, it is the water pollution with some problems: contaminated rivers are the consequence of pollution from nearby factories; the natural problems like floods, droughts, or nearly the melting ice caps. The rubbish in our oceans make many sea animals seriously hurt. For the past few years, scientist have predicted that the global warming will soon happen, causing harmful consequences. To solve these, we can do something like turning off electrical appliances when not in use; or trying to use renewable

forms of energy such as wind or solar energy. The government need to give new policies to improve this matter like charging polluting factories high taxes. Once you have known all of these, you must agree with me that environment is a big problem currently. How to reduce the effect of these on our land, air and water is still a subject we ought to discuss. What are these problems and how might they be reduced? Along with the development of society, more and more problems are brought to our attention, one of which is environmental pollution. Environmental pollution comes in various forms, such as land pollution, water pollution and air pollution. Firstly, this is the land pollution, one of the gravest problems existing on the earth. The land can become polluted from dangerous materials such as heavy metals, pesticides and landfills. It is often caused by human activities and their misusage of land resources. When these pollutants get mixed with air, this causes acid rain and when they are discharged directly or indirectly into water, this spreads the pollution further. Solutions, therefore, involve not only removing the source of pollution but also cleaning up and restoring the polluted area. Secondly, water pollution has become a serious environmental concern in Vietnam and other countries around the world. Water pollution occurs anytime when the contaminants including fertilizer, pesticides, and waste enter into a water source such as the ocean, rivers, lakes and groundwater. It has damaged the food chain and the drinking water, thus it has a huge impact on the health of an individual and the environment. Consequently, each person has to raise awareness about the importance of environmental issues and what can be done: reduce the waste, never throw solid or liquid into the water, and conserve water in an effective way. Last but not least, air pollution is becoming a major problem all over the world. Air pollution is in the form of a gas emitted by factories, power plants and automobiles. Anyone can see the brownish sky over a city or the dark smoke from a motorbike. Its effects range from contaminated rain to global

warming. Recycling, riding or taking public transport and planting trees are some great ways to help reduce air pollution. Environmental pollution has put life on this planet at risk. Fortunately, there are many solutions that can be taken by individuals, businesses, goverments and international organizations in order to keep the world in a good condition so that future generations will have the same natural resources.
