Executive Summary

Souzas BBQ will be an eat-in, carry out restaurant. We will also be offering a delivery service for anyone looking for some good southern style BBQ brought right to the front door. Unlike other BBQ restaurants in Fort Collins we will provide a unique combination of exceptional food and value pricing. From the many college students to the thousands of people that just want some good grub Souzas BBQ will be the place to go. Having friendly customer service is one area that we will go above and beyond because at Souzas we believe that good service and great food is how we are going to gain the trust and loyalty that we need from our Fort Collins customer base. Also throughout the year Souzas BBQ competes in many different local and state wide BBQ competitions which will allow us to reach the heart and soul of the Colorado BBQ community.

Mission Statement

To provide a type of BBQ experience that is unique and different then any other BBQ restaurant. From our delicious smoked food to our one if a kind customer service, we will strive to give every guest that walks through our doors the best BBQ experience they have ever had.

Business Concept

We will be taking over a pre-existing company called Souzas BBQ. This is going to allow us to take advantage of the growing customer base that has already been set up by the previous owners. Combining our new business concepts with an already solid business foundation is the reason we believe that we WILL meet our entire short and long term objectives.

Short and Long Term Goals

Our short-term goals include branching out to new marketing demographics, new customer bases, and continuing to provide top-notch BBQ food to customers at a lower price than all of our competition. We will be advertising more to college age students in order to capitalize on our business location. Our long-term goals are fairly simple. We want to be known as the best BBQ restaurant in all of Fort Collins. We want to be one of the best restaurants that compete in BBQ competitions around the state. Ultimately we hope to make a name for ourselves in order to open new locations around Colorado

Target Audience

Our target audience is simple, people who love BBQ food. Our restaurant caters to all types of people. We have specials for the local college students. We have specials for families and young children. We also target a large BBQ loving audience because we go to local and state wide BBQ competitions.

Competition

Nordys: This is an upscale BBQ restaurant that has a limited selection of BBQ dishes. Although the selection is limited and pricey, the dishes are quite good. Brother Mels: An BBQ restaurant with a decent BBQ selection, however quality is inconsistent. Smokin Dave's: An upscale restaurant with a large food selection and good BBQ. Everything else is mediocre at best and over-priced. Service can often be poor.

Marketing Strategies

Our heaviest advertising will come through word of mouth of our customers. This can happen through social media, like Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. We can provide coupons to be sent through Value Ad and other local coupon books. Local newspaper and radio advertisements could be added in the future depending on success. College Sponsorships also depending on success.

Needs Summary

A current location with restaurant renovations is currently for sale for $40,000. Since it is already equipped with the necessary assets to run a restaurant, minimal start up costs will be needed. With these numbers in mind as well as support from a franchised business, a loan of $100,000 will provide us with enough to cover needed expenditures to open for business.

Revenue Model

Concept: We plan to try to keep prices low to make affordable barbeque for college students with average to low income. We want to keep prices for individual meals to where 50% of the sales cover the food costs while, 40% go towards other expenses like payroll, utilities, repairs, and other miscellaneous expenses. The final 10% will be kept as a reserve in case of increased or unexpected expenses. Pros: Lower pricing will draw more interest from students around campus. Both high school and college students with average to low income will be able to afford meals on a consistent basis. Cons: Keeping prices lower will keep us from being able to make larger amounts of profit. Forcing loans to be longer term liabilities.

Assumptions and Concepts

Payroll - First of all owners have agreed to limit owner withdrawal to $2,000 per owner for each month. This amounts to $72,000 dollars each year. Projections These are taken from averages of restaurants in the Fort Collins area targeting the same type of consumer.

Revenue Strategies

Catering- for catering there will be a fifty-dollar set up and tear down cost. Usually we try to keep it at 1/3 of a pound per person. At an average rate of 10 dollars per pound of food if you are trying to feed 100 people the cost for everything would be around Three hundred to four hundred dollars. We will offer this service to parties as large as 250 people to parties as small as 10 people. Delivery- one advantage of our location is that we are in a central position in Fort Collins. This allows us to have a service that most other BBQ Restaurants in this area do not. We will deliver our delicious food right to your door for an additional cost of $2.50. BBQ Competitions- We will also attend local and statewide BBQ competitions. These competitions allow us to advertise our products to a different audience. These competitions bring in an average of 200 dollars in revenue, however the advertisement that our business receives from these events is the real reason we attend.
