It is your job to write an essay that takes one side of the issue of the effects of the baby boom. Through your readings, you must decide whether the baby boom has had more positive or negative effects on Canadian society today. Step One: Listen to your teacher! Baby Boom Essay Rubric

PMI for the BABY BOOM


Using your textbook, the article The Baby Booms Last Echoes, the excerpt from Boom, Bust, Echo and the two newspaper editorials, begin to assess the positive and negative effects of the baby boom.

PLUS make a point form list of the positive effects of the Baby Boom on Canadian society

Minus make a point form list of the negative effects of the Baby Boom on Canadian society.

Interesting look over your Plus and Minus lists of effects. Are there any that could be positive and
negative? List them and give reasons here.

Now look over your work again. Decide which one you will take on to create an essay that will answer In what ways has the baby boom generation caused a positive or negative effect on Canadian society today and in the future? Decide which direction you will go. Review Building an Essay Burger. Consult Student Projects book (you have from last year -blue) page 50 that reviews The Working Outline, then The Skeleton Outline on page 54-55. Start your outline using the framework provided.

*Remember that a reader should be able to read just the introduction and conclusion to be able to understand the overall ideas that your essay presents. The introduction is very important as it sets the stage for how the reader feels while reading your work. The conclusion is very important as it gives the last words one reads before making a decision on how they feel about your work.
