As promised, here is my study plan which I submitted when applying for my scholarship to China.

Please read my previous post on how I wrote it and the thoughts that went through my head. This my held you develop your own study plan. Please resist from copying my plan. Remember, a study plan needs to be unique and reflect your personality in order to stand out from the crowed. Wishing you all the best of luck, My name is Li Hua, I am a communications manager from London, United Kingdom and I plan to study Mandarin in China for one year. Past My interest in learning Chinese stemmed from 2002 when I passed through Beijing on route to Mongolia where I participated in charity work. As I passed through Beijing I instantly fell in love with the culture. In 2006 I graduated from Brunel University. My final dissertation focused on doing business across Asia. Once submitted I began studying Mandarin part-time. Studying Mandarin quickly became my favourite hobby and in 2007 I enrolled in the Waltham Forest Chinese Association Sunday Chinese School. My passion for learning Chinese enabled me to achieve excellent results and in academic years 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 I achieved awards within the school (please see attached letter of recommendation from the Head Master). I accomplished this while working full time, as well as studying a postgraduate diploma in marketing. Since my initial visit to China in 2002 I have returned five times, feeding my passion for Chinese culture, language and to visit friends I have made along the way. Present The scholarship will fund my education to study Mandarin at a Chinese university for one year. The three universities I have chosen are Peking University, Tianjin University and Beijing Jiaotong University. My first choice is Peking University. Being the university with the longest history in teaching the Chinese language to foreign students in China, Peking University continues to build on its heritage playing a leading role in teaching Chinese. At present I am reading the Chinese Breeze series (a series of story books designed for Chinese language learners) published by Peking University Press. Peking Universitys teaching methods, facilities and rich literature will be a key enabler in facilitating me to unfold my potential. My current profession as Communications Manager is very demanding and it can often be difficult to find the time to practice Mandarin. The scholarship will provide me with the opportunity to focus my efforts entirely on studying Mandarin for twelve months, to immerse myself in Chinese culture and support me in realising my goal of achieving absolute fluency.

I will also be spending my time in China learning about daily life, customs as well as business practices and developing my network in the business and social arena. Future Throughout my studies and career I have obtained a high level of skills within marketing, communications and project management. Once I acquire a fluent level in Mandarin I will be using my expertise to bridge relationships between Chinese and Western firms and to help both parties thrive in a fast growing economy that is China. Misunderstandings can often occur between Chinese and Westerners not just through the language barrier but through cultural differences. Therefore studying Mandarin just in the United Kingdom is insufficient; there is no substitute for studying Mandarin in its homeland China.
