ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This OSH-WIND Manual was developed with the wholehearted assistance and support of
different individuals, organizations and institutions. Gratitude is tendered to:

• The couples from the Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) of Esperanza, Aurora and
Bagnos, Alicia in Isabela who generously gave their time, ideas and views during the
focused group discussions and manual pre-testing. Their openness to occupational safety and
health practice is deeply appreciated.
• The organizations that collaborate with the ARCs who gave rich expertise in rice production,
basis of the Manual’s technical content. They are the Esperanza Multi-purpose Cooperative,
local municipalities of Aurora, Echague, Alicia and the Isabela State University.
• The writers of the Manual led by:
o Gerryza Montero, Arlene Gutierrez, Alma Bueno, Moonyeen Rubi for the Manual
Introduction, Preparations and Actual Conduct of the Technical Session as well as the
Roles and Responsibilities of the OSH-WIND Champion and Paratechnician;
o Francisco Ordiales, Lito Pagunuran, Salvadora Reginaldo, Joseph Jose and Ireneo
Ramirez, Jr. for the contents of the Occupational Safety and Health focused on Working
Conditions;
o Ma. Carmen Sison, Gabriel Daloran, Maribel Marcos, Milagros Reyes for the contents of
the Occupational Safety and Health focused on Living Conditions;
o Ma. Soledad Peralta for the first topic outline, monitoring and evaluation;
o Roselle Cabrera, Francisco Nocolas III, Purificacion Canceran and Julieta Visitacion
Pizarro for the information, education and communication (IEC) of the concept design
and the appropriate illustrations in the Manual and other materials.

• The initial review of the Manual’s technical content by the select group of representatives
from Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, Occupational Safety and Health Center,
Isabela State University, Bureau of Rural Workers from Department of Labor and
Employment and DAR’s Support Services Office and Foreign Assisted Programs Office.
• The incessant technical and financial support of the International Labour Organization, most
especially to Kenichi Hirose and Sylvia Fulgencio for encouraging OSH for the informal
sector.
• To Director Susana Evangelista-Leones, OIC-Assistant Director Letecia Damole, CARPO
Ma. Elena Cabanes and OIC-CARPO Ma. Soledad Peralta of the BARBD, for upholding the
right of farmers to OSH and the ability of DAR to bring this program to them. Ronald Dela
Rosa, PARO II of Isabela, for his unconditional support to his staff who executed the aims of
OSH-WIND and to Bienvendio Reginaldo, CARPO of BDCD for all his moral support.

And most of all, to the Almighty, who with his guidance and Divine providence, the development
