Behind The Design

I started with searching on-line for inspiration. Ann Arbor Language Partnership is a teaching program so I initially came out with several ideas like dictionaries, teachers, blackboards, etc. I drew sketches of those ideas and compared them on my sketch book. Then I decided to include a book in my logo. A2LP themself mentioned that they liked the idea of save the children. That logo was really simple, with just a red human gure. I assumed they would like to have human gures in their logo; besides, the core idea of A2LP is the teaching activity, thats why I decided to add 2 human gures to highlight the teaching concept. About the color choice, I tried to use the mutiple colors that A2LP perferred, but it was a little hard to arrange the colors so I gave up, decided to use simpli ed colorscheme. I nally chose black and red just because they were simple enough as well as provide good color contrast to make the logo stand out. About the fonts, my rst choice was a roundish, serif font Cooper Std. At the class discussion my groupmates suggested me use some serious and sans-serif font. instead. I was trying to use Helvetica, then found that Helvetica is not available for PC users. So I adopted an alternative font family that provides a lot of fonts: the Gill Sans MT family. The Gill Sans MT Bold font was a good replacement for Helvetica.
