Careerpie provides students & graduates the means by which to communicate the skills, achievements and qualications that they build up throughout their time at university. Lending heavily from social media principles, it then allows them to share their accumulated worth effortlessly. + University clubs/societies + Work placements + Extra curricular activities = Accumulated worth

The careerpie page, ta daa! It all works around the careerpie page. This is the space allocated to each student or graduate to show themselves off in the best possible light. It takes aspects of a CV and infuses them with social media to deliver an interactive view of a users credentials.

Whats so special about this careerpie page? A careerpie page takes the important data from users that employers look for and displays this information in a visually appealing, interactive & easy to share way. Its also incredibly simple to use. Take a look at some key features below.

A professional image together with contact details for the user to let prospective employers get in touch. Contact details can be as detailed or vague as desired

Qualications & Employment Timelines

Any qualications & employment information is displayed in timeline format making it visually easier to follow. If an employer wants further information on a particular qualication or employment they simply click onto the relevant section of the timeline for further details

Uploads & Links

Showing is always better than telling & this space lets users upload evidence of their skills, achievements, qualications & employment. Word & pdf documents, images & youtube videos can all be uploaded. Videos of presentation and language skills, images of awards received and references from work placements or even copies of coursework can all be evidenced here

Skills & Achievements

A dedicated space to summarise skills and achievements. Whether it be presenting, graphic design, a sporting award or extracurricular excellence

So how does this thing work then?

Students are introduced to careerpie during the rst teaching week

Throughout their time at university they populate their page with the qualications, work or placement details, skills & achievements they develop

Upon graduation (or at any point they desire) they have an effective & visually appealing record of the aspects mentioned in point 2, that can be easily shared with prospective employers

You keep mentioning sharing, how can a page be shared? Sharing a careerpie page couldnt be easier. All the user needs to do is forward their unique page url. The page url can be used as an add on for CVs, mentioned in application forms or even posted on social networks.

Sounds great but is it safe? We are all too aware that on the web you cant always be sure of everyones intentions and so have included certain features to make careerpie as safe as possible . SSL Secure: Careerpie works under a valid SSL certicate from leading web security company Comodo.This means that anytime users are working on their page they are doing so safely and in addition whenever they forward their page url on, its still protected. Obscure links: Every careerpie page url is assigned a unique ID that makes up the complete page link.This ID is a random combination of 32 numbers & letters, making it extremely difcult for anyone to view a users page unless they have forwarded the url to that person.

Ok, but whats in it for the University? This would be a great section to wafe on about the state of graduate unemployment and wheel out the latest set of statistics from HECSU What do graduates do? 2010, showing that 17.6% of Marketing graduates, 20.5% of Biology graduates & 26% of Art graduates in 2009 only found employment in areas unrelated to their degrees, such as Retail & Catering in this case. But thats not really our style, we like to get straight to the point, so heres how the University will benet from using careerpie:

 Improve KPI statistics for number of graduates in employment as well the number of graduates employed in degree related elds

With the planned future increase in tuition fees, careerpie can be used for positive publicity to highlight the fact that the institution is investing in continuous student & graduate development

Highlight the positivity of being an innovator for continuous student & graduate development in the UK higher education sector Careerpie, in time, has the potential to become a staple of the Universitys offering to potential students.

Our plans for the future We are currently working to form partnerships with some leading job sites. This would enable us to feature the latest graduate, placement and parttime opportunities live on the site. Users would be able to apply directly for the roles by sharing their page url. In terms of the placement & part-time roles featured, what better way for students to add additional worth on their pages ready for when they graduate?

So what resources would the University have to commit? We know your resources are better spent producing the great minds of the future, so we take care of pretty much everything. If users experience any technical difculties, they contact us directly through the site and we resolve the issue. The only thing we ask is that the University actively promotes careerpie to students as you see t, be this through the teaching faculty or by other means. But hopefully thats something youll want to do anyway.
