Government Financial Institutions).

SAFETY OF THE INVESTED SCRIPS : To keep scrips in safe custody with a

Sahara India Pariwar’s foray into the field of media and entertainment began with the
launch of Sahara TV on 28 March 2000 with the 24-hour free-to-air Digital Hindi
General Entertainment Channel beamed across 66 countries. On 10th October 2004, the
channel was rechristened Sahara One Television with the launch of the First Indian
Sangeet Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Today, Sahara One Television
reaches out to over 40 million Cable and Satellite Television homes.

Sahara One Television provides a strong mix of engrossing fiction and non-fiction
entertainment and is popular for its star-studded mega events, soaps, kids’ programmes,
thrillers, feature films and film-based programmes among other things. It has the
distinction of launching India’s first live game show, Dial One Aur Jeeto, now in a one-
hour format that receives close to two million phone calls and SMSes in a single day.
Committed to providing its viewers with the best in television entertainment, Sahara-One
recently launched a serial aimed at women called Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki. Other
popular shows on Sahara-One Television include Chacha Choudhry and Raat Hone Ko
Hai, which bagged the award for Best Horror Show at the Indian Television Awards 2004.

Sahara One Television has won 20 programming awards from prestigious institutions
including Lions International, RAPA and the Screen.

Sahara One Television today has some of the most experienced and renowned media
professionals working on the channel.

With a strong focus on quality content, innovative programming and promotions and
strong distribution, Sahara-One is poised for a position of strength amongst the
mainstream Hindi General Entertainment Channels in India.

Sahara One Television is part of the umbrella brand Sahara One, whose other

India’s largest player in the motion pictures business.

Sahara One Media & Entertainment Limited operates two television channels – Sahara
One in the general entertainment genre and Filmy in the Hindi movie genre. There are
plans to launch a third channel – HIT, in the Hindi music space soon.

Sahara One channel offers its viewers an interesting mix of fiction, non-fiction
entertainment and events. The channel has revamped its prime time offering by launching
two new shows 'Solhah Singaarr' and 'Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye'. Our leading shows are
Rajshri Productions – “Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki” and Siddhanth Cinevision’s “Kittu
Sab Jaanti Hai”.

The channel is popular amongst viewers also for its non-fiction shows, mega events, kids
programming, features films and film based programs. It has the distinction of launching
India’s first live TV game show – Dial One Aur Jeeto which was a huge hit.

Sahara One Television channel sources software from India’s top production houses like
Rajshri Productions, Creative Eye, Cinevista Production and others. It has been
associated with key directors like Sooraj Barjatiya, Ravi Chopra, B.P. Singh and others.
Leading advertisers in the FMCG, Consumers products, Automobiles and Telecom
Services are associated with our channel. Advertisers include Hindustan Lever, Procter &

FILMY, Sahara One Media and Entertainment Limited's second channel after Sahara One, was launched on
February 12, 2006. The Sahara Group was already into the businesses of general entertainment television,

news and motion pictures and a Hindi films based channel was recognised as a natural step in the
direction of integration of these businesses.

FILMY, a Sahara One Network Creation, is a digitally encrypted Hindi Movie channel, which aims to
redefine how cinema is consumed on television. It delivers the biggest Bollywood blockbusters, spiced up
with a dash of fun and irreverent original content. This unique movie presentation format combined with
FILMY's slick and new-age packaging promises to enthrall the viewers with a stress-free movie viewing
experience.

The test signal for FILMY went on air on January 26, 2006 . The commercial launch of the channel
happened amidst much fanfare on February 12, 2006 . A 30-city FILMY Yatra was organized through the
month of February, where the FILMY anchors traveled with the Yatra to various cities, and met the viewers
and the media at the local level. The launch also featured a high decibel campaign across television, radio,
outdoor and ground. Some of the key markets covered were Mumbai, Delhi , Kolkata, Lucknow ,
Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur , Chandigarh , Bhopal , Jaipur and many others.

Cinema production

Sahara-One Motion Pictures is India’s biggest motion pictures production company. It is


driven by the desire to delight audiences with quality content. With over 40 film projects
in hand, of which 22 are currently on the floor -- Sahara-One Motion Pictures is
producing quality movies and undertaking distribution and marketing such films that are
appealing to the masses.

Trade Sales Department (FMCG channel) is engaged in selling Detco washing


powder, Classic White Soap, Mosquito Coil, under the umbrella brand name SAHARA
CARE in the states of UP & Uttranchal for about a year. Products are being sold
through dealer network on advance payment term only. We have over 100 Distributors
& 10000 Retailers under our fold.

We have a team of sales representatives based at different locations to look after the sales
and assists distributors for the growth of our business. The department plans to spread its
wings in other neighboring states after successful completion of task in UP & Uttranchal.

Future Prospects of our FMCG Channel: Making new Distributors, Dealers, Retailers,
C & F agents for Sahara Care products. We had hoisted wall paintings & dealer board at
different parts of Uttar pradesh & Uttranchal

Retail Sales

India represents an economic opportunity on a massive scale, both as a global base and as
a domestic market. Indian Retail sector consists of small family-owned stores, located in
residential areas, with a shop floor of less than 500 square feet. At present the organized
sector accounts for only 2 to 4% of the total market although this is expected to rise by 20
to 25% on YOY basis.

Retail growth in the coming five years is expected to be stronger than GDP growth,
driven by changing lifestyles and by strong income growth, which in turn will be
supported by favorable demographic patterns and the extent to which organized retailers
succeed in reaching lower down the income scale to reach potential consumers towards
the bottom of the consumer pyramid. Growing consumer credit will also help in boosting
consumer demand

The structure of retailing will also develop rapidly. Shopping malls are becoming
increasingly common in large cities, and announced development plans project at least
150 new shopping malls by 2008. The number of department stores is growing much
faster than overall retail, at an annual 24%. Supermarkets have been taking an increasing
share of general food and grocery trade over the last two decades.

However, Distribution continues to improve, but it still remains a major inefficiency.


Poor quality of infrastructure, coupled with poor quality of the distribution sector, results
in logistics costs that are very high as a proportion of GDP, and inventories, which have
to be maintained at an unusually high level. Distribution and marketing is a huge cost in
Indian consumer markets. It's a lot easier to cut manufacturing costs than it is to cut
distribution and marketing costs.

So keeping in tune with the world Sahara India Pariwar launched its retail sales on 10
June 2003 at Gurgaon in the form of Sahara Unique Retail Outlet. The Retail Sales
motive was to provide our esteem customers the concept of “Touch” & “Feel”.

Till date, we have opened 38 Sahara Unique retail outlets in various major cities
preferably where our regional offices are located. All the 38 Sahara Unique Retail outlets
are located in the prime location of the town.

the consumers.

Araria Jute project : Production of handloom, handicrafts & hand-knitted carpets


to bring forth socio-economic development of the people of Araria.

Sahara India Jute Project and R & D Centre - a multi-faceted development initiative by
Sahara India Pariwar, is an ambitious project with a very deep-rooted social foundation.
Coming up at Araria, the birthplace of our Hon'ble Managing Worker & Chairman,
Sahara India Pariwar, Shri Subrata Roy Sahara, the project will address critical social &
developmental issues specific to the region, as also the larger concerns of the jute
industry in India, with an aim of providing it a proper identity in India & abroad. The
project endeavours to bring about a complete Social Renaissance by empowering the
local community so that they may bring a composite improvement in their standard of
living, and in the condition of their habitat. The project aims at creating worthwhile
livelihood opportunities by promoting entrepreneurship for the people of Araria &
surrounding districts through the promotion & manufacture of jute, jute products & jute
diversified products. The project overwhelmingly shares & propagates Sahara India
Pariwar's unwavering commitment to comprehensive socio-economic upheaval in the
country. Araria being the starting point, the emphasis however, will be on extending this
model to the entire region by embarking upon a rigorous program of training, research
