Before going to some area /port we do need consider: -is this area where we want that ship will be? -is it safe / with in IWL -can we go due to political reasons? -next loading position or what ship will do afterwards? -long versus short voyage -bunker avialability/ prices - Chartering terms / reputation - Ice restrictions
Vessel at NAABSA berth naabsa not always afloat but safe aground
STOWAGE FACTOR
COFEE IN 60 KG BAGS 1,9 m3 / t Wheat bran / kvieu klijas 1,45-1,9 m3 / t Hemp in bales non compressed 7,65 m3 / t Hemp in bales compressed 2,44 -3,55 m3 / t
STOWAGE FACTOR
Stow factors vary with load country If geven stowage factor 55 it means 1 t stowing in 55 cbft!!! IRON ORE - 11/14 that is 1 t of iron ore is taking space in hold of 11 cbft. Coal - 30-50 t / cbft = 0,84 1,41 t / m3
STOWAGE FACTOR
Ships holds volume 3000 m3 The cargo stowage factor 1,45 t / m3 We can load in hold = 3000 / 1,45 = 2068,96 t All above correct if no other limits like: - ships dwcc -draft at laod / discharge ports -pressure on tank top -ships stability
STOWAGE FACTOR
Wet cargo API American Petrolium Institute API gravity, is a measure of how heavy or light a petroleum liquid is compared to water. If its API gravity is greater than 10, it is lighter and floats on water; if less than 10, it is heavier and sinks
STOWAGE FACTOR
Wet cargo API gravity, given at 60 F - Intake requested in BBLS - 1 m3 = 6,2898 BBLS
Light crude oil is defined as having an API gravity higher than 31.1 API. (less than 870 kg/m3) Medium oil is defined as having an API gravity between 22.3 API and 31.1 API. (870 to 920 kg/m3) Heavy oil is defined as having an API gravity below 22.3 API. (920 to 1000 kg/m3) Extra heavy oil is defined with API gravity below 10.0 API. (greater than 1000 kg/m3)
