The MX stationary boom system a summary

4

The factor of time is playing an increasingly important role in concrete placement for large projects. When the reach and options on truck-mounted concrete pumps are insufficient, stationary booms are able to offer efficient concrete placement. Used together with stationary concrete pumps, they provide high-performance and practical solutions. They reduce the time required for placing the concrete and increase productivity. The MX standardised modular design allows the system to be used economically for various applications, e.g. the construction of power stations, caverns, liquid gas tanks and bridges, as well as in building construction. Booms with 24 to 50 m horizontal reach, with or without counter-weights (up to 36 m) in accordance with construction site requirements, for both climbing formworks and freestanding construction sites or also auto-climbing, e.g. through floors. This fulfils all requirements regarding the creation of building and industrial constructions. In the initial phase, the freestanding boom, mounted on a tubular column or lattice tower, is used to concrete the base plate and the first floor. Following this initial phase, the climbing boom uses the integrated lifting equipment to move up through the floors and shafts to the height of the higher floors still to be constructed. On large construction sites, the displaceable boom can be moved from one tubular column to another using the quick disconnect system. The RS 850 system

Flexible and quick setup

New tubular column The RS 850 tubular column system comes with 3 m, 6 m or 9 m columns as standard, with standard pipeline lengths. Different tubular columns for setting up the boom pedestal and arm assembly are not required. The double M tubular column profile requires only one simple, square cut-out (1 m x 1 m) in the floors. By using an adapter, existing booms can continue to be used with the RS 850 tubular column. Automatic climbing procedure The climbing system integrated in the tubular column profile allows automatic climbing in the building. Once the climbing procedure is complete, the climbing cylinder is drawn upwards along the climbing bar, using a cable winch (see p. 8).

Setup variants The placing boom can be set up in different ways s Freestanding, on a ballastable cruciform base s Freestanding, on the compact cruciform base secured on the base plate with foundation anchor s Using a cruciform base, secured on a climbing framework s No cruciform base is required if a base plate and floor are present. The tubular column is held in place by four base plates and floor corner guides

Simple column connection Instead of the procedure common up until now, in which the tubular columns had to be laboriously screwed together, re-usable pins are used in the RS 850 system. They can be simply inserted by hand and secured.

Attachment to a base plate with anchor embedded in the foundation. If the location is cramped, the compact cruciform base can also be attached in the foundation using a tension anchor basket.

Adapter between tubular column RS 850 and boom pedestal R 750 Naturally, an existing Putzmeister placing boom (with R 750 boom pedestal) can be combined with the new tubular column. Putzmeister provides an adapter for this purpose. This allows the benefits of the RS 850 system to be enjoyed with the existing arm assembly.

If a floor is already present, no cruciform base is required. The tubular column is then guided through four base plates. BP 2059-6 GB

The multi-boom disconnection point Thanks to this disconnection point, placing booms can be used on truck-mounted concrete pumps and in stationary operation on tubular columns or lattice

towers. The multi-boom disconnection point separates the arm assembly from the boom pedestal. The arm assembly is set up and dismantled as one unit.

18

Separable platform One part of the platform can already be delivered to the construction site, preassembled on the tubular column. It can be immediately and simply installed on the tubular column. The rest of the platform is just latched in and secured. An optional safety platform, which is required by accident prevention regulations in some countries, can also be secured to the tubular column.

The T disconnection point In addition to the multi-boom disconnection point, Putzmeister also offers the disconnection point in the A arm for the placing booms with 28 m and 32 m horizontal reach. This separates the boom pedestal with part of the A arm from the rest of the arm assembly. The crane loads are under 5 to.

Two pins secure the boom on the boom pedestal and enable the two to be disconnected quickly and conveniently for assembly and disassembly

Ladder elements with removable back protection: the screwed-on back protection can be removed from the ladder elements for easier transportation and to protect against damage during storage.

What is common to all of these is that the electric motor, all hydraulic components and the boom control are integrated in the boom pedestal.

Bracing: Special construction site situations require special solutions. If a large freestanding height is required (in cavern construction, for instance), the stationary boom can be secured to the structure with a bracing, thereby overriding heights

Each tubular column can be connected to the boom pedestal by pins. The slewing gear cylinders have end position damping to reduce the twisting moment on the mounting console.

Lightweight components Four lightweight and compact floor corner guides replace the heavy floor frames used up until now. The floor corner guides can easily be carried to the relevant storey. Climbing cylinders and locating bolts are replaced with the climbing system which is secured on the tubular column and the integrated extending feet.

Climbing process Tubular columns climb hydraulically by means of a climbing cylinder. The swivel claw is folded out, the climbing cylinder is positioned on the floor and pushes the tubular column upwards using the upper climbing carriage (B). Before the end of the stroke, the catch on the lower climbing carriage engages in the climbing bar and holds the tubular column in position (C). After the climbing cylinder's return stroke (C), the catch on the upper climbing carriage engages in the climbing bar again (D). The starting position (D and A) has been reached. The climbing procedure is complete and can be repeated. After climbing, the tubular column supports itself on the extending feet again. The swivel claw is folded in again, and the climbing cylinder is drawn upwards along the rail by the cable winch (E).

1: Extending feet hold the placing boom when climbing is not in progress. 2: When climbing starts, the swivel claw holds the placing boom. Catches push the placing boom upwards or hold it while the climbing cylinder retracts for the next stroke.

Practical extending feet hold the tubular column in the building and relieve the operator of the task of handling the heavy and unwieldy bolts 9

The lattice tower system

Ideal for large horizontal reaches
34 36

If a project demands a horizontal reach greater than 36 m, stationary booms on lattice towers are used. These allow horizontal reaches of up to 50 m, as are frequently required for the construction of liquid gas tanks, for instance. The complete Putzmeister stationary boom range is, of course, also available with lattice towers as the base structure. Adapters provide the appropriate connection. (If stationary booms are to be set up on a lattice tower made by a different manufacturer, Putzmeister must give technical clarification and approval). When a stationary boom is set up on a lattice tower, no counter-weight is required for a horizontal reach of up to 34 m.

Stationary pumps and pipelines for the highest demands

An extensive product program of stationary concrete pumps with sophisticated technology forms the ideal combination of stationary booms. Delivery rates of 55 to 200 m3/h, delivery pressures between 106 bar and 260 bar, pumps with diesel or electric motors fulfil every requirement of a modern concrete pump.
39

Further information about stationary pumps is available in brochure BP 2632.

40

38

Pipeline and accessories make up, next to the concrete pump, the third important component when stationary booms are used. High-pressure resistant ZX pipelines up to 250 bar are indispensable in construction. The SK system is suitable for rotary distributors and placing booms. This system's con-

nection can be turned on its axis. Further information is available in brochure PM 2300. Putzmeister services offer comprehensive consulting and advice for major projects. We plan construction site installations, set-up sites

for booms, static calculations of set-up heights and will support you during the entire construction project in all technical aspects. Brochure BP 2362 gives more detailed information.
