College Kanpur was established in 1964 and was headed by Km. Sheo Saxena from 1964 to 1966 .From Km. Saxena, the reigns of the department came into the hands of Dr. Madhulata Bajpaee on July 18, 1966.She continued to serve till June 30,1999. The department received its permanent affiliation with the University of Kanpur in the year 1969 .From Dr. Madhulata Bajpaee, the charge of the department was taken over by Dr. Chandni Saxena on 03.01.2002.
