ANALYSIS OF EDUCATION PROBLEMS:

Education is considered as the cheapest defence of a nation. But the down trodden condition of education in Pakistan bears an ample testimony of the fact that it is unable to defend its own sector. Though 62 years have been passed and 23 policies and action plans have been introduced yet the educational sector is waiting for an arrival of a saviour. Following are the most important problems that is considered to be the key source for the higher illetracy rate: 1.Improper allocation of funds: The main problem ragarding education is that government do not allocate the funds for the different sectors effeciently, the do not have a proper plan to follw, they do not form any streaty to handle the situation and to give the proper guideline to the concerned sectors. As they do not have proper plain for the education so the can not allocate the funds according to the weightage .in a required manner as it want to be. 2. Courruption: Courruption is considered to be the main source to lack of education in Pakistan. As in most of the sectors people which are highered are not up to the mark and most of them are not even educated properly. People are getting jobs on the bases of relationships, bribery and other non ethical sources, so if our education policies made by those people who are not eligible enough so definatly it will cause lots of problems and will leave a desasterous effects on the long term as our youth is considerd the leaders of tomorrow so if they would not provided with the quality of education so it will automaticly turn the future into dark. 3.Poverty: As we all know that Pakistan has high rate of poverty level around 24%. Most of the population of our society are not able even to satisfy there basic need like food, shelter , clothing etc. If they are facing problems in making there both ends meet so how would they think of getting education.

4. Inflation:

As inflation in Pakistan is increasing day by day and it is getting difficult for the people to survive. The poor class of the society is having it very difficult for there survival as we can see that most of them are commiting sucided and breaking there hopes, the middle class is also effected badly with the inflation, as we can say that rich people is gatting richer and poor is getting poorer day by day. As the prices of thing are getting higher rapidly due to bad economic condition so most of the people are . There childern out from the school as they can not afford these expence as education is gatting expensive by the time. 5.Shallow thinking: There are such people in out society who donot give any importance to education. they have it in their mind that educating their childrem wiill do no good to them and it will only waste their money. Most of it is done for the girls. the girl are stopped from going to school, their parents just want to get them married and teach them the household stuff. They are such people who do not consider the boys and girls as equal. Also, their are people who donot even want their boys to study further then matric, as they let want them to take part in the family business or start their own. they are budened with responsibilities from a very early age. 6.Over population: Overpopulation is also the most important aspect of lack of educationin Pakistan. As the family size increase the resources becomes less so it would be difficult for people for educating there children along with providing them with the basics needs.

DEFINATION OF LITERATE IN OUR SOCIETY AND OTHER SOCIETY: The person who is called literate in our society is the person who can just know how to write his/her name. This criteria of judjing people is not reperesnt the real standard if the person can only have the knowlegde how to write his/her name how can we call him/her literate, but if we compaire the concept of literate person with other society and with the people of other country and state they called those person the literate one who can write, read and have some knowledge about mathematics. These are the proposed standard that is adopted by most of the successful countries and that is the reason that they are ruling on the world because they set there standad so high.

CURRENT SITUATION:

This picture is showing the current situation of literacy in our country. Literacy rate in 1999: 45% Literacy rate in 2007: 53%

Overall literacy rate in the country has improved from previous 56% to 57 %, says the Economic Survey. The data shows that literacy remained higher in urban areas (74%) than in rural areas (48%), and is more prevalent for men (69%) compared to women (45%). As we can see the huge differnce between the education level of urban area and

rural area and the gender discrmination is also visible from the diffrenec in percentages of literacy.

However, it is evident from the data that overall female literacy is rising over time, but progress is uneven across the provinces. Literacy rate in Punjab is (59 %), Sindh, (59%), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (50%) and Balochistan at (45%).

According to the data, the overall school attendance, as measured by the Net Enrolment Rate (NER)1, for 2008-09 was 57% as compared to 55% in 2007-08.

LITERACY RATE OF MEN AND WOMEN IN DIFFERENT PROVINCE:

Total Adult Literacy Rate : 55% Total Adult Literacy Rate : 54% ( Male 66.25% , Female 41.75%) Punjab : 60.8% (Male 70%, Female 51%) KPK : 47.4% (Male 63%, Female 30.8%) Sindh : 5.15% (Male 60.5%, Female 42.5%) Balochistan : 34% (Male 45%, Female 23%) Total Literacy Rate : 49% Total Literacy Rate 50%

As it is very clear from the above data that literacy rate in quite low and espacially the litracy rate of women that shows that women are not given equal rights as compaire to men.

It is clear from the picture that people that are doing nothing for the education has higher rate as near to 31% and those who reaches the level of post graduate is just 29%

COMPARISION: YEARLY :

This data shows that the litracy rate in rural areas is badly affected as compare to urban areas. As we can see that the litracy rate of Balochistan is much lower than others because of lack of oppertunities and is very much neglacted by the government, litracy rate of Punjab is comparatively better than others but still low

As we can see from the graph that in 15 years the level of education has increased just by 13% and its not a very good sign.

COUNTRY:

We can see the from the table that we are at 136th number of the ranking which showes the alarming stage and also showing the highre rate of illteracy in pakistan as compare to other countries.

In Human development Report Pakistan is placed at 136th position for having just 49.9% educated populace. The primary completion rate in Pakistan, given by Date Center of UNESCO, is 33.8% in females and 47.18% in males, which shows that people in the 6th largest country of the world are unable to get the basic education. Following are the problems of education in Pakistan. Firstly, the educational system of Pakistan is based on unequal lines. Medium of education is different in both, public and private

sector. This create a sort of disparity among people, dividing them into two segments. Secondly, regional disparity is also a major cause. The schools in Balochistan(The Largest Provice Of Pakistan By Area) are not that much groomed as that of Punjab (The Largest Provice Of Pakistan By Population). In FATA, the literacy rate is deplorable constituting 29.5% in males and 3% in females. Thirdly, the ratio of gender discrimination is a cause which is projecting the primary school ratio of boys & girls which is 10:4 respectively. For the last few years there has been an increase in the growth of private schools. That not only harms the quality of education but create a gap among haves and have nots. Fourthly, the lack of technical education is a biggest flaw in the educational policy that has never been focused before. Therefore, less technical people means less . Fifthly, the allocation of funds for education are very low. It is only 1.5 to 2.0 percent of the total GDP. It should be around 7% of the total GDP. Sixthly, the teachers in government schools are not well trained. People who donot get job in any other sector, they try their luck in educational system. They are not professionally trained teachers so they are unable to train a nation. Finally, Poverty is also another factor that restrict the parents to send their children to public or private schools. So, they prefer to send their children to madressahs where education is totally free.

EFFECTS OF LACK OF EDUCATION:

1.UNEMPLOYMENT: The unemployment rate is a measure of the prevalence of unemployment and it is calculated as a percentage by dividing the number of unemployed individuals by all individuals currently in the labour force. As the illetracy rate in Pakistan is quite high and majority of people are not getting quality education so they are not getting jobs and due to which unemployement rate is high.

2.POVERTY: Poverty in Pakistan is a growing concern. Although the middle-class has grown in Pakistan to 35 million, nearly one-quarter of the population is classified poor as of October 2006. As of 2008, 17.2% of the total population lives below the poverty line, Education is perhaps the best long-term solution to poverty in the developing world. Time and time again, experts say that educating children, especially young generation, is the key to ending the global cycle of poverty.

This graph showes the poverty rate in Pakistan 3.TERRORISM: Terrorism in Pakistan has been a problem in recent years, and has been attributed to the government allying itself with the United States in the global "war on terror". Currently, the biggest threat to the state and citizens of Pakistan stems from the politically motivated killing of civilians and police officialsAs majority of the people are illetrate in Pakiastan so, it people are illetrate they do not have the knowledge of good and bad things so for fulfilling there needs they turn toward terrorism.

5.DECLINE IN ECONOMY:

Economical condition of Pakistan is underdeveloped as it suffers from internal crisis at several levels like economy, political disputes, low foreign investments and others. Every sector of Pakistan economy has made significant contributions to its GDP. Agricultural sector has contributed 20.4 percent to Pakistan gross domestic product. Industrial sector of Pakistan has accounted for 26.6 percent of 2008 GDP of Pakistan while 53 percent of Pakistani comes from services sector.
