Getting Started
Before Powering Up
Before powering up check that:
1. The unit has been installed in a suitable location.
2. The power supply has been checked and a good earth provided.
3. The correct fuse type and rating has been fitted to both the unit
and the ac power cable. There are no adjustments or fuse
changes needed for 110/230 Vac ranges.
4. The unit is connected to external equipment and power supply, as
required.
NOTE...
Please refer to Instruction manual ST.TM.E10076 for all power
supply, fuse, safety, EMC information and operating
conditions.
Powering Up
To power up the DSNG Encoder:
1. Check that the Power Supply Stand-by Switch is set to ON and
apply power to the equipment.
2. The DSNG Encoder executes a series of power-up initialisation
and self-test routines. If the self-tests are successful, the summary
screen is displayed (see the following section).
3. Confirm that the green Power LED is lit and that the red Alarm
LED is unlit.
4. Stable operation, within specification, is available after a boot peri-
od of approximately 90 seconds (without Remux Option fitted).
Page 3
Summary Screen
Once the self-tests are successfully completed, the summary screen
is displayed (see Figure 2).
Turn Output On
The configuration of the DSNG Encoder after booting is the same as
when power was last removed, with the following exceptions:
• Modulation of the IF carrier is switched on.
• The IF output is switched off.
• The IF output power is set to 'Low' (or 'Normal' if the low and nor-
mal settings are set to the same level).
NOTE...
If power dip recovery is enabled, and the power supply interrup-
tion is less than eight seconds, the unit powers up in the same
state as when the power failed.

Configuration Setup
The Configs menu allows the user to store and load the following
types of configurations:
• User Defined
• User Defined Backup
• Factory 525/625 Default
16 Setup configurations (plus 16 backups) can be stored.
1. From the summary screen press the down arrow five times to
access Configs and press the right arrow to enter the menu.
2. Use the up and down arrow keys to select from the following:
Load Active Config - load a predefined configuration from memo-
ry.
Store Active Config - overwrite the current configuration in memo-
ry.
Load Configs from Backup - overwrite all existing configurations
from the backup memory.
Store Configs in Backup - store current configurations in backup
memory.
Factory 525 Defaults - restore the factory 525 default configura-
tions.
Factory 625 Defaults - restore the factory 625 default configura-
tions.
Write Protect Configs - write protect the configurations so they
cannot be overwritten.
NOTE...
Other audio and video controls are available in the Setup menus,
see ST.TM.E10076 for details.

IF Frequency - sets the frequency between 50 MHz and 90 MHz
Modulation - turns modulation on or off
Mod Type - the only modulation type available is QPSK
Symbol Rate - sets the symbol rate in Msym/s
NOTE...
Other parameters such as Preset Power Levels and Satellite
Descriptors can also be altered, see ST.TM.E10076 for details.
