Assignment 5 - PLP Reflection

Please answer the questions in the space provided. Be honest in your answers but please explain your views in detail. 1. Has learning about the type of learner you are i.e. visual, active, been helpful in improving your studies this year. Please explain why or why not? Learning about the type of learner that I am has not been helpful in this last year, with the school work given to mean not allowing me the chance to use any of these elements.

2. In the My Learning assignment you had to write SMART goals and develop an action plan for improving your literacy and numeracy skills. Did you find these goal setting tools useful, please explain your answer in detail what did you like/dislike about the goal setting activity. I found the smart goals to be unhelpful because of the lack of time in this past year that I have had to improve a Pacific area likely spelling. All work this year has been completely new concepts like in maths or encompassing many things like in English.

3. Was the career builder assignment helpful in determining your career choice? Explain. The career building assignment was extremely helpful in showing mean many things that sold like to do in the future. Also showing the Pacific details about the different areas in which I might want to study. 4. Was the Career Builder assignment beneficial in choosing stage 1 and stage 2 subjects? Explain. Yet it was helpful because it showed me how to keep my options open to many different areas may want to continue studying in. 5. Was work experience useful in assisting you to choose a career path? As a result of work experience are you satisfied wit the subject selection choices you have made for next year? Work experience was a real eye-opener to how the workforce really works, it gave me a good idea of if I wanted to follow in this area what I would mean to do. 6. Overall, how helpful has the PLP been in helping you decide your future path? Please explain. Different aspects of PLP have been helpful and unhelpful, I think after this year aspects of PLP will need to be rethought, the career builder was the most helpful to me in choosing how my future will turn out.

7. How can the PLP be improved for the year 10s next year? Write at least 2 constructive suggestions. I think that some aspects of PLP should be tailored to the person doing, so that it would be most helpful if for the user. The program be more user-friendly for people with spelling and English difficulties in fulling out such big worded forms.

2. SMART Goals
Update 2 of your SMART Goals using the SMART goal system (a reminder of how to use the system in on the next page) write them into the spaces below.

Specific Goal: make a band

S: to make a band to make music and money.

M: to get gigs A: if will try to get together once a week R: yes if I try T: 3 weeks

Specific Goal: get the right score in engering

S: to get a big enough score for engering

M: get in at uni A: yes with perstents R: yes T: by the end of school SMART Goals
This is one particular method of developing goal setting skills. Work through the process to plan how you will achieve a goal that you have been thinking about for a while.

Specific: make sure that the goal is specific.

parts.

You may have to split larger

goals into separate

Measurable: How will you be able to measure your success or when the goal is achieved? Achieve: Is the goal achievable in your situation? Realistic: Is it realistic that you will achieve this goal in the time frame? Time: When are you going to achieve it by?
It is really important that you are constantly working through the goal setting process. The more you write them down the better your tasks will be organised. It is also vital that you have short term goals within the longer term goals. This allows you to have some feedback along the way to check whether your long term goals are achievable and realistic. The following is an example of how to use SMART Goals. Specific Goal Improve my grade in Maths

S:

Improve my grade in maths this year from a C to consistent Bs

M: Measurable by keeping my percentage for every piece of work above 75% A: Achievable if I do at least 1 hour of Maths homework for each week and seek
help with assignments and tests.

R: Talk with Maths teacher and check.

T: Must be done by middle of Term 4.
