Wearing Uniforms at Work

Wearing uniforms has been a long disputed issue that entails certain
complications. For a long time employers and employees find this debatable ground
crucial.

Most workers consider wearing uniforms very frustrating and inconvenient. It

is widely accepted that such a step is a little bit implausible and arouses a number
of questions. Certainly there is a reason for all this. Everyone is easily exposed to
manipulation and to loosing his/her freedom. The person becomes vulnerable and
liable to obeying orders in such a way that it can even affect his/her view of life. All
the staff of a given company turns into some kind of pawns in the hands of a master.
Thus, each day gets more and more monotonous and annoying, even boring. There
exist no different individualities, but just identical creatures, all alike. Furthermore
under these unfavorable conditions it is too probable to begin to feel as if in prison.
And is this the very purpose when working for a company? It seems that a worker
loses more than it gains.

Let’s now discuss the employer’s point of view over this delicate subject. He
also occupies a paramount place in our everyday life. As for me, wearing uniforms
helps us enormously to increase the productivity and even serves as a spring-board
to a future promotion. The uniforms make us feel as if in a team, they create an
atmosphere of appurtenance to a given group of people. The presence of a team
that is united enough and works over one and the same problem is a success itself.
Another point in favour of the uniforms is the fact that they save us plenty of time.
Early in the morning, instead of trying to find what exactly matches perfectly with
your new blue shirt, one can do some really useful stuff. Last but not least, the
inferiority complex meets no grounds when wearing uniforms. They for sure prevent
us from feeling uncomfortable and down-hearted due to our worn-out clothes or
insufficient income.

To sum up, after such a detailed observation one can conclude that each
viewpoint his its pros and cons. And in my opinion the greatest solution of all is to
stick to the golden mean. This means that to obtain the best results people should
mix the two extreme points so as to achieve what is really worth. For example, a
possible way to overcome future disagreements is to apply the uniforms but not at
their full potential. I find it truly lucrative if only one scarf is added to each one’s

clothing. This very scarf, all the same for the whole staff, also may make you act as
if you work in a team but the consequence is totally different. The feeling of a slave
and prisoner does not bother you because people can make their own choices
related to clothes and be free. On the other hand, in some laboratories, companies
dealing with highly poisonous materials or where experiments are performed it is
completely obligatory to wear uniforms that a specially made for the case. There
exist a lot of solutions that are really appropriate but what is of vital importance is
our common sense and prudent behavior.
