eTrace WiCap

mini
PROFFESIONAL AND COMPACT WIRELESS LAN INTERCEPTOR
With the advent of ever increasing access and more sophisticated applications in the Wireless (WiFi) Communications arena it is becoming clear that criminal elements are using technology to plan and coordinate their activities. 10 years ago 90% of useful intelligence was obtained through traditional phone tapping and other surveillance procedures but in recent years the level of useful intelligence gathered by such methods has fallen dramatically. This can be attributed largely to the advent of internet based technology coupled with technology savvy criminals who are aware of the difficulties of intercepting internet based communications, especially when the connection is over WiFi. This has generated the need for tools capable of monitoring, decrypting and intercepting WiFi borne data and this is why eTrace has developed the foremost product range dedicated to the task at hand:

Complete system architecture.

Data Capturing and Filtering:

Set of various WLAN antennas,, 2.4 GHz amplifier for range boosting, External radio module Control is via a Linux based notebook that stores the data on HDD Architecture is open for plug-in options WEP decryption module WPA decryption module accepts Hash matrixes from eTrace WiCrack unit PCAP output format delivers compatibility with Wireshark or other Backend system for data analysis WiCap can create copy of data to external units Copied data will also be saved on the WiCap HDD for offline analysis

The eTrace WiCap captures data from all WiFi channels simultaneously in a forensically sound way. Having identified the MAC address of a specific target it is then possible to enable all radios to capture data from that one specific MAC address so that in the event of the target Channel Hopping to avoid detection the data will still be caught. The data from a specific MAC address can then be Streamed in near real time for further analysis. See Data Streaming below:

M AC Tracking Capability:
A sophisticated means of comparing all newly identified MAC addresses with all previously detected MAC addresses makes it easy to identify a specific targets MAC address by simply following the suspect to several geographical locations. The MAC address that is common to each of the locations must belong to the target. This can then be loaded into all channels such that data from this specific MAC address will be captured even if the user is clever enough to hop between different WLAN channels.

Omni Directional and Uni-Directional An tenna:

The eTrace WiCap is supplied as standard with a 6db gain omni-directional antenna. Optionally directional antennas can be provided with gain in excess of 20 dbs. This allows for the triangulation of signals to identify the position of access points and client targets relative to the GPS position of the WiCap.

GPS Positioning for Forensic integrity:

Each eTrace WiCap is supplied with a GPS receiver build in to the unit. This is a necessity to provide forensically sound intelligence. Clearly it is of fundamental importance to be able to capture all the data from a target but just as importantly it is necessary to tie that information to a time of day and a geographical location. Without this capability the information gained can only be treated as hear say and therefore not admissible as evidence.

Control and Remote Control Capability:

The standard graphical user interface is web based such that an operative can connect directly over a wired connection with a local PC or over an internet connection with a remote PC. Standard browsers are supported although Firefox is the recommended means of access. Also, a simplified user interface is available so that non-technical personnel can quickly turn the unit on and get it to collect data from all WiFi channels with a minimum of training.

Ac ti ve At ta cks:
To enable the recovery of Network Keys it is necessary to capture the 4 way hand shake that is used in WPA encryption. If a session is already active the interceptor will have missed the handshake, so there is a need to be able to actively stimulate a new handshake. This is accomplished in the eTrace WiCap by actively attacking the target network to force the handshake procedure to take place.
