Since its introduction in 1980, the Rotary Lobe Air Motor has demonstrated its many advantages across almost all industries and applications. From Mining to Mixing, Drilling to Defence, Hauling, Hoisting and Pumping, the Rotair motor gets the job done - better. Motair supplies an extensive range of Motors, Valves, Brakes and Mountings as well as an almost infinite selection of geared drives giving you the choice you need. With standard motor ratings covering 1 to 70 hp, torque ratings of 4 to 400 ft-lbs, geared drive ratios up to 2000:1, and capacity ratings of up to 350,000 ft-lbs, the Rotair motor will meet virtually any pneumatic requirement. Compact Air Power

With only two moving parts, our frictionless, rotary, non-reciprocating design of air-motor results in low air consumption, higher reliability, and an almost unlimited operating life. The unique design is versatile and compact with power outputs from 1 to 70 hp. The simplicity of the Rotair design makes our drives very competitive and allows us to cater for custom builds.

Motor Lubrication
An adequately sized lubricator should be fitted in the supply line, preferably no further than 1 metre from the motor. The drip feed setting depends on motor size, air flow and running time/frequency. Motors used infrequently and for short duration should have a much higher drip rate setting than motors running continuously or often. Detailed guidelines are provided with motors.

Gearbox Lubrication
Gearboxes do not contain oil when shipped. A lubrication chart is provided.

Operation Angle
Motors may be operated at any orientation and direction of rotation is fully reversible.

Air Supply
Rotair air motors feature very low air consumption (down to 18 cu ft free air per horse power under suitable conditions), however we recommend compressor ratings of 30 cu ft per required horsepower be allowed to avoid any problems due to unforeseen site losses of volume or pressure.

Exhaust
Rotair motors have only two ports. If they are used in a reversing mode, the exhaust air exits via the valve. This must be taken into account when sizing valves to avoid back pressure. Alternatively, rotair supply a range of motor mounted lever and pilot operated valves as well as exhaust control valves for when a remote lever valve is to be used.

N.B. All statistics shown are based upon an air supply at 90psi/20-30 SCFM per hp.
