ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

My gratitude goes first and foremost TCT administration for the facilities that have been provided to me in order to accomplish my practical training. I am thankful to NDBP officers, who helped me to obtain the form from NDBP/BUGESERA district allowing my training in this company. My thanks go to all technicians who kindly supported me during my practical training. Finally, I wish to extend my deep sense of gratitude to my family, friends, and colleagues for their assistance and encouragements during my industrial attachment. God bless you all.

ABSTRACT This report includes my industrial attachment done in NDBP BUGESERA district this has enabled me to improve my knowledge and my experience in practice that I could not get in the classroom for better understanding the theoretical framework of the classroom. During my industrial attachment at BUGESERA district was concerning about making layout, excavation, constructing, preparation of the concrete and miser installation of biogas plant. In fact, my industrial attachment was including also the promotion and motivation of customers and fulfilling the biogas contract and visit biogas which are useful for monitoring and controlling because some have troubleshooting.

CHAPITER 1 GENERAL INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND My industrial attachment was localiazed at BUGESERA district from East province of Rwanda. So, let us see its borders Northern of BUGESERA, there is Kicukiro district Eastern of BUGESERA, there are Ngoma and Rwamagana district Southern of BUGESERA, there are Nyanza district and Burundi country Western of BUGESERA, there are Ruhango and Kamonyi district BUGESERA district have 15 sectors, my industrial attachment was focus in all sectors in order of visiting controlling and monitoring the completion biogas plant but all have not the constructing biogas plant only some of them. Rwanda faces energy problems principally due to its land locked position and dependency on petroleum fuels that have to be imported at high cost .wood is the source of energy for more then 80% of the population which leads to massive deforestation and soil destruction. Our vision 2020 states that Rwanda will therefore increase energy productions and diversify into alternative energy sources. So, NDBP come as major solution of reduction of deforestation and increasing a domestic hygienic and domestic lighting by use and constructing biogas plant.

OBJECTIVES The major points of doing industrial attachment are:

To cultivate the students professionalism, aptitude, attitude and adaptive skills in real-life situations To appreciate the importance of human relationships and work attitudes. To understand the constraints of working life and functional relationship within and between organizations. To be oriented toward work processes. To apply theoretical concepts and school based skills to practice. To develop work attitudes like curiousness self confidence, maturity and self reliance. Internships will provide the opportunity to improve professional knowledge. To obtain knowledge of potential careers and develop new areas of interest. . About employer: Influence the training of future generation of employees. Saving the benefit from the activities of trainee without any allowances. Know future skills availability.

CHAPTER II: DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPANY

2.1. Location and Brief history of establishment. My company is called National Domestic Biogas Program (NDBP) one of the EWSAS departments. So, NDBP has also the fields in each district. Then I was localized at BUGESERA district from East province of Rwanda.

2.3. Vision

2.4. Mission
The main mission was to provide more biogas plant in all villages of Rwanda and vocation training in order to empower biogas technicians and masons.

CHAPTER 3

WORK CARRIED OUT

3.1 SUMMARY OF THE ACTIVITIES DONE My industrial attachment was concerning about constructing, controlling, monitoring, motivating peoples, making layout, visiting the completion for checking biogas plant. There are two mains activities that I focus on it: A. Constructing biogas plant : was including all steps that are concerned like

i. ii.

Motivating peoples and fulfilling biogas contracts Making the layout and excavating the pits Tools used: Cord Pegs Measuring steel tape Hoe Picks Spade Wheel borrow

We construct a biogas plant having 6m3 of size at nyarugenge sector and at nyamata. The excavation done Depth of pit was 170cm, radius of pit was 160cm, length of outlet was 160cm, breadth of outlet 130cm, height of outlet was 55cm and side of manhole was 60cm and height of outlet passage was 110cm.

iii.

Foundation round wall of digester: was concerning of stones, cement and sand We construct foundation of stones and construct digester wall up to 35cm for positioning Inlet pipe and toilet pipe.

Inlet should be at heart line and toilet should be at10cm inner distance and 1m outer distance between inlet pipe and toilet pipe. Then, we make completion up to 85cm.

iv.

The plastering digester wall and foundation tool used: Towel Pans Float Jericans Hoe Spade Tape measure Masonry level

v. vi. vii.

Backfilling Dome casting by using earth mould and tool called Template Dome construction by make a layer of soaked sand and then make a concrete was well prepared before. Remember Turret construction.

Viii.

Slabs construction, we normally done 3slabs of outlet tank and 1 slab of

covering water drain by using steel bars with mix of cement, sand, and gravels. ix. Inlet construction by using half bricks, cement, and sand .those are material used. So, constructions of inlet are done according the heart line and remember to install mixer. The orientation of inlet should be Eastern to Western or Western to Eastern means sun ways x. Removing the earth from digester chamber by passing through the manhole and make top filling of dome xi. Outlet and Manhole construction , using all materials states above and remember overflow hole and then plastering this structure. xii. Making others layers of dome by using plastering, mix of acrylic emulsion paint, and cement according to the appropriate ratio. xiii. Leveling the earth and excavating compost pits and make cloture of biogas plant areas

B. THE VISITED BIOGAS PLANT Those biogas plant are completed and are useful but most of them , they mix more water for making facilitation of their arms, because they dont have the mixer. so, it can impart the production of biogas for not be well anaerobic for those bacteria. Then most of customers need control and monitoring of how they mix and feed the materials. Work done when we are visiting biogas plant i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. vii. Use dipstick for checking mixing and bacteria through a hole in slab No.1 Open water drain Checking manometer and lamp Checking if they remove unauthorized component Control how cow dung are collected and mix Making some conversation with customer if biogas plant give them the change Advising and motivation other neighbor

THE THINGS LEARN AND GAINED EXPERIENCE I can supervising the construction of biogas systems Troubleshooting biogas system I can try to construct biogas plant with under a supervisor Casting the dome Dome constructing I learnt to positioning inlet and toilet pipes etc

Recommendation

During the industrial attachment in Bugesera we get a problem of transport, so we propose Tumba College of Technology (TCT) in collaboration with NDBP to help the students, in order to give them some allowances for facilitate a trainee to follow the activities of biogas on the ground of all sectors without obstacles I recommend to all customers which have biogas systems that must respect the ratio of organic matter and water to maintain optimum gas. I recommend those customers respect (daily ;weekly; monthly and yearly maintenance)for performance of the biogas systems I recommend to NDBP to strength the supervision of the construction activities and increase institution biogas system in all cities of our country. I recommend NDBP to courage the customers Suggestion -NDBP staffs, could you bring vocation training and starting at TCT ending students. -Most people want the connection of toilet pipe and inlet pipe, you may do it.(possible when) -Most customers want lamps than stoves, Then how can we empower stoves for not consum more gas.
