On the Edge of Hope

Romans 5:5 Hope fills three places or roles in our lives. There is the hope that pulls at us to be obtained. There is the hope that drives us forward. There is the hope that transports us beyond our perceived limits. If these places in life seem to be a bit unfamiliar, it may be that you are standing on the edge of hope and never venturing into the adventure of experience it may bring. The Hope that Pulls at Us We want! There is no denying it. We want to obtain. We see, hear, or in some other way sense an element that is desired for our lives and we long for it. Whatever the achievement may be, we look to it and like climbing the side of a very steep mountain we move step by step closer to having it. We neither hesitate or stop as long as hope keeps the prize in front of us. 1 Thessalonians 2:19 The Hope that Drives Us We are always in process. We are always going somewhere. Typically, we know where we have been. We generally know where we are. We may even know where we are trying to go. Hope is that force that makes us pick up our feet and step by step move toward the goal. With hope in place, we dont have to see the complete journey as a great leap. Instead, we can see each small step as another accomplishment that brings us closer to that goal. It is the encouragement that we need every step of the way. Hebrews 10:23 The Hope that Transports Us Hope may have a rear-view mirror, but it does not have a reverse. Understand that it is not an inability to look backward, but a thrust that only allows forward movement. Hope believes that when you stand at the top of the world and with wonder perceive the end of your journey, there is still another step to take. It is the step into promise. It is the step into the unseen. It is the greatest hope of all. Remember, Abraham went out no knowing where he was going, but knowing in whom he hoped. Hebrews 11:8 We live not on the edge of hope, but in the very heart of it. Russ

Brothers Keeper All groups will be involved in organization of the annual Holiday Dinner November 18 Brothers Keeper Leaders Darrell MacDonald is seeking people to be Brothers Keeper group leaders for 2012. The primary job is to organize your group and schedule monthly time of fellowship. To volunteer, contact Darrell. We received the following letter from the Oklahoma Blood Institute. What a life-saving difference youve made by hosting a blood drive on Sunday October 30! Thank you on behalf of those directly impacted and their friends and families. While it was great fun to celebrate Bedlam rivalry through Randy Vances leadership, all who donated are winners. At the blood drive 19 caring people participated, and 18 were able to make a donation that day. Southern Ridge Church of Christ can be proud of this partnership with Oklahoma Blood Institute in such a tangible life-giving effort. We commend you. Sincerely, DaOnne Skaggs Blood Program Consultant
