The soon-to-be parents Sachin and Pinky Pawar are of course super excited. The couple got married on 8 January 2011 and Pinky conceived a month later. When she registered herself at the local primary health centre, there was more good news in store. I was very happy when I was told the news. The officials from London even asked me what I would name my child, said Pinky. Not just the Pawars, all of Sunheda is excited that their village will soon be known all over the world.

The village gram pradhan, Vijender, is also happy that our village will become famous. Comparison with China In Beijing, the population has doubled over the past decade and the city is struggling to play home to 20 million people. Migrant workers crowd cities like Beijing, which is the worlds 13th most populated city. The strain on cities across the globe like the Chinese capital is evident as the worlds population reaches seven billion. UN secy general calls for unity of purpose Meanwhile, as the world readies to welcome its seventh billion inhabitant today, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for unity of purpose among people across nations to address problems of climate change, economic crisis and inequality. Some say our planet is too crowded. I say we are 7 billion strong. But we will only be able to use that strength for the benefit of all if our societies are built on mutual respect and understanding, Moon said. Watch video
