Training Camp October 15-23 White, GA

January 2012 World Race E Squad!

Where to start? October 15-23 was training camp for all 3 January 2012 World Race squads- C, D, and E. Each squad has over 40 participants and 3 squad leaders, so along with the training department and other World Race staff/serve team, almost 200 people gathered together in the woods of Georgia for a week. It was amazing, draining, crazy and cold. The rst 3 full days of camp focused primarily on inner healing and freedom. There were numerous teaching sessions throughout the day, each starting with a worship time.

Jonathan David Helser and his band lead us a community in worship during these days. The middle portion of training camp involved bonding as a squad and the process of making teams. On the World Race you travel with the entire squad from country to country, but often you are doing ministry with just your small team. A large part of training camp is to form these individual teams of 6-8 people. We had a dance off competition, a squad camp out, morning workouts together, and a few team building activities. The squad leaders and the training team came together to make the teams and chose team leaders.

Once this was done we announced it to the squad and they were able to spend the last couple of days bonding as teams. We also had a womens and mens retreat for each squad during the last full day. of camp. Our nal night at camp is spent participating in Squad Wars- a series of games and competitions between the squads to see who will come out on top. We came in 3rd place (so last) but it was still fun! The picture above is E Squad after Squad Wars. By the time camp had ended, I was exhausted, but incredibly blessed to be leading E Squad with Lindsay Dobner and Allan Boehm. (continued on the back)

Now that I have shared some of the basic details of training camp, I wanted to share a little more of my heart for E Squad with you. Arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Isaiah 60: 1-3 These are the verses that God has given me for E Squad. I believe that big things are going to happen in and through this squad during their 11 month journey. I believe that the glory of the Lord is upon them and that their presence is going to change nations.

I could write pages about training camp and all that God did in 7 days. But, for now, I will share one of my favorite moments from that week. A few nights into training we had a camp out. As a squad we were

responsible for hiking out to our campsite, canoeing a little part of the, setting up camp, and cooking our dinner. After all the food had been consumed, we were all standing by the re, warming our frozen bodies when someone began to sing How Great is Our God. For the next couple of hours the squad worshipped acapalla together, prayed healing over one of us, opened up about questions and struggles we were having, and some shared part of their stories. It brought so much joy to my heart to see the squad already uniting and loving each other through hard moments when we had only been together for 4 days. I truly felt like we were the body of Christ that night. Throughout the camp out, I was reminded why I am doing this, why I am going out again: to see my generation arising for Christ, to see them awakened by His love, to see their identities transformed, to see them united for His Kingdom. E Squad is beginning to walk in those now and we havent even left yet! I am so excited for what is to come in January! Thanks for reading, please keep E Squad in your prayers!
