0 SYNOPSIS The course presents a blending of two major components: curriculum and pedagogy. Both the theoretical and practical aspects of the components are given emphasis in this course. As an introduction, the fundamentals aspects of curriculum and its foundations will be discussed. This will follow with the discussion of issues, principles, and models in curriculum planning and curriculum evaluation. This course will also discuss approaches and domains of teaching and learning. Students will also be exposed to various models of teaching and learning, and choose appropriate model to suit student needs and the teaching context. 2.0 Course Objectives Students are expected to: 1. understand the fundamental aspects of curriculum and pedagogy. 2. understand the principles and issues in curriculum development. 3. Understand theories of learning and teaching, and domain of teaching and learning. 4. Know models of instruction and its implication to students learning. 3.0 Course Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. develop an understanding of the fundamental aspects of curriculum and pedagogy. 2. discuss principles and issues in curriculum planning and curriculum evaluation. 3. discuss theories, issues and domain of teaching and learning. 4. conduct an analysis of various models of teaching and learning, and select appropriate model of teaching to suit students needs and teaching context. 4.0 COURSE CONTENT NO 1 TOPICS Understanding the concept of curriculum and pedagogy Definition and concept of curriculum Definition and concept of pedagogy The fundamental aspects of curriculum and pedagogy HOURS 6 : : : : SGDC 5013 Curriculum and Pedagogy 3 None
