They are very bright during the day. Lower Merion wants to prohibit it. -Should Narberth consider a resolution regarding lighting? -Other Civics have individuals come to their meetings to present topics. -Regarding maintenance of rental properties in Narberth that are not multi-family: Lower Merion does have an ordinance that they do have to have inspections. This may be another issue NCA wants to examine. -The Civic will further discuss some of these issues such as lighting resolutions and inspection of rental properties. Old Business: Andy Haakenson reported: -At previous meetings the Civic has discussed hosting a seminar on Medicare for eligible seniors. Andy has a contact who does such presentations; a nighttime event would be most realistic. This could be a one-night event for individuals to learn the steps to signing up for Medicare; additionally, it may be beneficial if someone from the political spectrum can come speak to what may happen to Medicare given funding issues. February or March might be a good time to host such an event. -Pay-Pal account is being established. -Ed Ridgeway of the Business Association has invited us to join in sponsoring Oktoberfest next year. Proceeds this year were split between the Business Association and the Fire Department.

New Business: -Georgette Du Bois reported that Channel 99 is having a free anniversary event at the Tavern on Thursday, November 3rd from 5:30pm to 8pm. It may be beneficial if some members of the Civic went to the event. 7:30pm: Introduction of Borough Council candidates and informal question and answer / discussion. General Questions asked of Borough Council Candidates Bob Weisbord and Michael Alexander: 1. What does each candidate love about Narberth? 2. What dont you like about Narberth? 3. What specifically, if each candidate was running against opponents, would each candidate do to differentiate themselves? 4. Regarding infrastructure such as the air conditioning in this [Borough Hall] building, would that be addressed in Borough Council? How do the candidates feel about oversight of the Borough Managers budget? 5. Regarding oversight of borough employees, how active has Borough Council been in this and do the candidates have an interest in looking into borough employees job descriptions and salaries? 6. Is it worthwhile funding a pedestrian bridge at Rockland? 7. Small businesses open and close in Narberth. What would the candidates do to facilitate the opening of a coffee shop or that type of business here in Narberth? 8. Does the Borough actually need a coffee shop, for example, and should the Borough Council specifically select the type of businesses allowed? 9. Do the candidates know anything about making repairs to the Narberth train station, which, incidentally, does not conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act? 10. Would the candidates be willing to revisit the sidewalk ordinance which compels repair of sidewalks? 11. Does Narberth have a lighting ordinance?

Meeting adjourned, 8:20pm.
